He explanation of the roots of English immediately increased my Spanish vocabulary without using rote memory. That alone was with the price of the course. Also, he begins teaching with the verb hacer. As a previously failed language student, this was a revelation that allowed me to understand a great deal and made it possible for me to speak "on the fly" by using the many cognates without memorization. All in all, I've made huge strides that previously eluded me. I highly recommend this course for people that want to learn by listening. Review: logical presentation of material enhances ease of learning - I liked this first tape so much I have now ordered part 2 and part 3 as well. I did buy an English/Spanish dictionary, though, because I like knowing how words are spelled as I am introduced to new vocabulary. (Spelling is not given for most words presented on the tape.) I liked listening to the tapes and listened to each lesson two or three times, picking up more info each time. By the end of this first tape, I am able to speak many sentences in Spanish, but I'm a bit slow thinking them through yet, and find I don't always know enough vocabulary yet to express myself fully. However, during my recent vacation, I was able to get by OK, if somewhat frustrated with myself at times. Most of the people I met knew at least some English, which made things go more smoothly than would otherwise be the case. I will continue with next two tapes and see how it goes. I actually liked how Spanish is taught on this tape.

So easy to learn this way
I found the booklet, a zip file on audbile web site. I was able to email it to my kindle address, after looking in the settings on my kindle. Great help to see some of the spellings, and use for self test. It is 80 pages so donโt miss out. Anyway I am using this along with Duolingo to learn Spanish. Most of my errors on Duolingo are spelling, so in many ways I prefer this. I want to speak Spanish not write it. This gets you really able to string phrases together to have meaningful conversations. The best method I have encountered. I cannot believe I threw away money on Rosetta Stone this is far far superior! Get it! I am astounded that this has not been adopted by everyone, schools, government anyone involved in language learning.

Learn to speak, but not to understand
I have completed parts one through three of Paul Noble's Spanish course. It's not bad if you are learning while driving, but it has definite weaknesses. First of all, and this is a major drawback, the focus has been 100% on SPEAKING and 0% on LISTENING, so while you might be able to SAY something in Spanish, good luck being able to UNDERSTAND anyone speaking Spanish to you, especially if they're speaking at a normal rate! Second, I find the content builds slowly. Repetition -- spaced learning -- is good, but after this many hours I would have expected to learn more words. Third, his choice of vocabulary is a bit odd. Again, I'm through part three and we have yet to learn "buenos dias" or "hasta luego" or โcomo estaโ.

Made all the difference!
I bought this book on Audible and we listened it as a family on a few hour route to the airport anticipating our trip to Puerto Rico. This quick study made a huge difference in allowing us to use the basic words and phrases we already knew and turning them into conversations. Several times during the trip we commented how much we picked up from this brief tutorial. I would highly recommend!

Pretty sure this is my first Amazon review in several years, if not ever. This audio book is beyond phenomenal. It has me thinking in Spanish, and learning more effectively than 4 years of HS/college Spanish. I cannot recommend more highly. I listen when walking or driving. Easy to follow and understand - he is an excellent instructor!

Two thumbs up! Simple and straightforward. Well done!
Not your normal, boring teaching method. This works. Makes sense of languages in a simple, straightforward manner. Easy to understand. Enjoyable. I'm using both the Spanish and the French and I am amazed at my progress. Two thumbs up.
