Great printer at a reasonable price
A great printer at a reasonable price. I am 74 but still found the set up to be really easy and the wireless internet set up is very smooth. The quality of the printing is really good and the printer us very quiet . I can easily print from my phone, tablet and laptop.

Turns itself off
A fairly good little printer, bought to work with a bunch of Macs across a wireless network. We had a bigger Pixma before, which died when the cats weed on it. This new one is not quite as neat - the paper sticks out with no cover over it and it turns itself off (presumably to save power). This is annoying when I have to run upstairs, turn it on, run downstairs, press print and then run back up to get the prints. The old Pixma used to be able to turn itself on when it detected an incoming job. We keep the office door closed now, to keep the cats out.

deeply frustrating
I bought this printer as the write ups were good and Which gave it a glowing report but I really miss my old HP printer. This Canon printer has offered me nothing but frustration. Constant paper jams and inability to connect to the various devices we are trying to print from, as the bluetooth has been flaky so we often need to hook it up on the USB cable, which isn't fun when printing from a different floor but something my old HP printer did with ease. The head alignment is now off so the printing quality is shocking and using the apps to correct the alignment has sent me around in circles. Hoping to return.

A Printer Designed by People Who Hate Users
I regret to say that this printer is not a device so much as an ordeal. The Canon PIXMA MG3600 has no user interface screen, no readable error messages, and no apparent interest in communicating like a modern piece of technology. Instead, it conveys problems via a blinking light system that appears to be based on Morse code. When something goes wrong (which is often), the printer flashes at you meaningfully and expects you to Google what seven blinks followed by three blinks might signify. Spoiler: it usually means "buy more ink." This is not user-friendly. This is not intuitive. This is not acceptable in the year of our Lord 20-something. The lack of a display means even basic troubleshooting becomes a scavenger hunt through forums, PDFs, and YouTube videos filmed in 2014. A previous Canon model I owned—older, cheaper, and presumably built before joy was outlawed—at least had the decency to tell me what was wrong. This one just blinks judgmentally. Ink consumption is predictably atrocious, setup is fiddly, and every interaction feels like the printer is doing you a personal favour by functioning at all. When it does work, it prints adequately, which is the bare minimum and not a glowing endorsement. I feel like I didn't buy a printer. I bought a malevolent entity that feeds on human hope and £40 cartridges. This printer would be perfect for someone who: * Enjoys decoding flashing lights * Has unlimited patience * Misses the thrill of early-2000s tech frustration If you value your time, sanity, or basic dignity, I strongly recommend choosing literally any other model—preferably one that uses words instead of interpretive blinking to communicate errors. Two stars. And that’s extremely generous.

Good reasonably priced printer.
I thought i may struggle to connect the printer to my laptop and phone as I am in my late 70s but it was so easy. I have printed a few photos off both my laptop and phone and they are very clear. Great value for money.

Poor software, unreliable device
Didn't even get the chance to purchase ink refills before it inexplicably stopped responding—we managed to get around the issue for a month by adding it to our machines every time we needed to print but now none of that works. Connecting it to machines *directly* via USB doesn't work, either. The software for it sucks, configuring networking is clunky, and there's no guarantee it'll actually print things successfully once you get through setting it up and a few weeks have passed.
