My husband took it apart and put it together the right way and works perfectly. We filled it with sand, because water leaks out of it. The cap locks, so don't twist it on until your ready, I learned the hard way.Once perfected, it is worth the money and gives lots of support for our 10 foot umbrella that we spent a fortune on. It holds the umbrella up in all cases except when the wind is very strong.One issue to highlight: The cap that covers where you pour the sand in is one time use. Once you close it, you're done. You cannot open it again. That's not very helpful. So make sure you put all of the sand that you want in there BEFORE you close the cap. I filled it half way with sand and closed the cap to test it out...ooops. So I don't have as much weight in there as I would like.
