Standard tap & die set, seems like good quality hardened steel. The key thing to know is that 9/16"-24tpi UNEF is the exact thread match for standard US (sink, dishwasher, etc) 3/8" OD compression fittings. Worked perfectly in my case to clean up the boogered threads I discovered when replacing the supply hose to my sink.

Good and sharp, saved the project

I had a lawnmower spindle and pulley nut stripped on me. I used the 9/16” tap and die set to successfully re-thread the nut and spindle. I filed a couple of threads off of the spindle and was able to start the die, and then used a wrench and large mouth pliers to twist the die to re-thread the spindle bolt. The tap worked a lot easier to re-thread the nut. Better than buying a full set of taps and dies which I probably would have never used.

The arrive in less than 1 day, the cost was low (on sale from Amazon). And they would work if the size I need was 7/16 x 24. But after trying them I found that i needed M10 X 1.0 for my brake fittings. I will probably keep them because of the price, other wise I would return them. Also like most inexpensive taps the have no starter threads but the metal will hold up if used carefully and lubricated while using. The price was great. you will need the 1 inch round handle .

I don't do a lot of threading so when it goes well I'm happy. I used it on 12 lug bolts and threads and it looks like it's still new.

Smashed the threads on my 3.55 pinion. This helped both fix the threads and clean them out. Used a bit of oil to make it easier. Cleaned both the pinion and the nut. I would recommend it but you need to buy the die holder too.
