**Q: What does this mean, 2 cans or 3 for wood. coverage:  textured = 60sq.ft/gallon in 2 coats, wood surfaces requir**
A: The standard application of Durabak, is a 2 coat application. However, wood surfaces are usually more absorbent, and require a 3rd coat for a full finish. So a gallon of Durabak on most surfaces will cover approximately 60 square feet with 2 coats, but on more absorbent surfaces, like plywood, 1 gallon of Durabak will get you closer to 40 square feet with 3 coats.

**Q: Will this product adhere to truck parts and trim ? Also can it be used to coat a dura max tool box thats made of plastic ?**
A: Hey, great question! Durabak can be applied to plastic and it bonds well!
Just like all Durabak applications prep is required; clean (with non chlorinated detergent) then scuff (60 grit when prepping plastic, same for rubber. Fiberglass, Gel coat, bare metal, aluminum all require 40 grit. Painted surfaces are 80 grit for textured Durabak and 100 grit for smooth Durabak), then wipe down with Xylene (use t-shirt material) and as soon as evaporated apply the Durabak (thin coats so you don't get curing bubbles and pinholes, second coat goes down as soon as first coat is touch dry - do the fingernail test).
In short, clean, scuff 60 grit, wipe down with Xylene and apply 2 coats.
Give it 24 hours completely dry and then light use, after 4-7 days heavy use.
It is moisture cured, so high humidity and high temperatures will make the Durabak dry FASTER.

**Q: What can you use to seal bare wood before application?**
A: Durabak normally bonds directly to bare wood. But it can be very absorbent, and may require 3 coats of Durabak. So if you prefer, you can prime it first using most traditional wood primers, including a latex primer. Just check the label of the primer to ensure it's compatible with a urethane over-coat.

**Q: Does this require primer on bare aluminum**
A: Yes- you should prime the bare aluminum. You'll want to clean the surface thoroughly, rough it up with 40 grit, and apply a metal self etching primer, like zinc chromate. Just make sure to follow the primer guidelines regarding over-coating.

I sanded the heck out of the inside of the truck bed, blew out the dust, then used alcohol to wipe it all down. I then mask-taped everything I didn't want painted. Stirred it up and used a brush to get into the hard places first, then rolled it on. I parked it in the sun for about an hour and a half to dry up the first coat. There were some places where the "Grit" or the non-slip stuff was lacking after my first coat, but those were all easily filled in with the second coating. It took me about 6 hours in total. One gallon was just right.

This was my first time using any bed liner material and it was very positive. The first coat rolled on easy and dried in a few hours. The second coat really added the texture to the bed.I have tried a few areas to get pieces to peel up with my fingernail but had no luck.I coated the bed, front of the bed and tailgate on a mini truck and had about a quart left over after the second coat.Once I stirred it the material stayed in suspension really well.The only downside was the smell. I put this on in my garage with both doors open and the smell was intense. Had to close the doors for the night and in the morning the smell was very strong. Opened both doors and it went right out. Caution not to do this in a room or building that you cannot get some ventilation in. Pretty sure some brain damage may occur.Used the white on my white truck and could not be happier with the results.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ 1st impressions - It came out well

Wow it stinks - I was outside under a sun screen and was dizzy after the 2nd coat. Make sure you mask well so you can move fast, it gets thick quickly. I had seam sealed a medium size gap between the floor and the front wall, after finishing I wish I had also done the smaller gaps and used a bit larger bead size. I started panicking after the 1st coat as it looked awful, with the overlaps being darker. Just keep going. You will have to develop your own technique. I settled on using a brush to apply by dapping and then rolled over it to smooth and even it out. I have a 5'7" bed and only had a little left over - I do not think you could do a 8' bed with a gallon. It is a moisture cure, so I did my 2nd coat after 2 hours but should have waited longer. I was careful to offset the overlapping areas on the 2nd coat. I liked that you can chose different colors. Grey is not at great match for the silver truck, but I am putting a cover on soon, so I wanted to keep the heat down.
