Pure Original Ingredients Salicylic Acid 5% Solution (30 mL), Pure & Simple Serum

I don’t buy those OTC acne/pimple creams with 2% salicylic acid anymore! This is my go-to for all of my facial issues. Also gets rid of lines, dark spots and whiteheads. Very strong so use sparingly and if starting out- apply only to spots - then use a moisturizer. Each face has its own sensitivity so monitor yours. This brand is high quality and affordable compared to others. Have purchased multiple times over the years. Product works!

GENERAL: I've repurchased this countless times over the years. This is a no-frills, thin/lightweight formula (see my video) to use salicylic acid at a higher % than available in most stores, not from an overpriced brand, and still not too strong - 'goldilocks zone' of acid %, in my opinion. Salicylic acid penetrates pores deeper than other alpha hydroxy acids, to breakdown skin cells and sebum, which is why it's so highly recommended for acne prone skin. I recommend not using it more than once per day consistently, however, as that could be irritating. Keep it off of your sensitive/dryer skin areas, like around your eyes TROUBLESHOOTING: If you notice a breakout of small pustules, you're using it too much, especially if you use any other acids/exfoliants, physical (like a buff puff) or chemical (like glycolic acid or a retinol). This doesn't mean it's no good for you, just that you may need to use it less frequently/in a lower concentration, and alternate days with it. I use a moisturizer on delicate/dry areas first, then apply the acid last, so the lotion acts as a barrier to the acid in addition to not applying it to those areas. If also using Benzoyl Peroxide - that could be harsh, so look for a 2.5% formula to prevent drying/irritation. UNDER MAKEUP: I've used it under both silicone and water-based makeup, and both work well without causing pilling or any other texture issues. PACKAGING: Very nice glass bottle and dropper that I've never experienced leakage with, even during travel. That said, I do put it in a ziplock snack size bag just in case!

I gave it four stars instead of five because for some reason, it's an oily solution, and it's also pricier than another 5% Salicylic acid I've purchased from here (that isn't oily). It did work well for me, I just didn't care for the oiliness or the higher price.

At first when I used this product I thought it was a joke. I stopped using it and went back to another brand of 2% salicylic acid that made my face too sensitive and too shiny. I decided I needed a stronger salicylic acid and remembered I had this one. I decided to give it a try until the bottle was empty. Within weeks, all the discoloration on my face was dramatically reduced! This bottle seems to never end! There is never any irritation! This works so well that on my exfoliation days, I can’t wait to use it the following day! I don’t like reviewing products until I have used them with results or lack thereof. This review is long overdue. I had acne scars. Gone. I had darkness around my mouth. Gone. Bumpy texture. Smooth as a baby’s butt. Less thin papery skin and now a firmer skin density. Of course I use great moisturizers and a sunscreen to keep my good results. If I get curious to see if this still works, I merely stop using this product for a day or two. All the reasons why I use this product begin to present themselves again solidifying it’s efficacy. After a few months, this product will change your view of yourself when you see a clear youthful face look back at you in the mirror!

It is the best product for my skin that I have ever used. It has reduced my pores on my nose and removed all traces of blackheads. Oh I wish I had found it 70 years ago when I was 14. Yes I am 84 and thrilled to see a much better complexion. I am sorry I did not take a before and after picture to show the incredible improvement.

I guess I overlooked a detail when buying this product. I have used it literally only 3 times because I found out that this is not your average regular serum , you have to leave it on the skin for 2 to 5 minutes and then rinse with water!!! That detail has had me rarely use the product. Also I feel a slight heating sensation when applying this to my face, idk if that's normal but if anyone else feels the same then it's probably the way the product works I guess. My skin is sensitive but not so much like other people if that helps any of you. It's It's great value for the price and the texture is great like any serum. Have I seen any changes for rhe few days I did use it? Afterwards yes I seen minor details with my pores a smaller acne but again I only used it a few times , I will most likely come back for an update but I wish it was written in more bolder letters that's this is a (rinse off serum) that way I would of bought the other version and saved my self an extra two steps in my nightly skin routine.

Instantly lighted a burn mark on my arm !!! This product is very effective, but you have to use it with care because it is a chemical . Do your research

The way they describe this is as if it is something super strong that you should only leave on for a short time and then rinse off. I didn't find it that way at all. Maybe I just have skin that's used to salicylic acid, but I just rubbed it all over my face my neck and dabbed it under my eyes and left it on all night. I've never had to wash it off. I've never found it to be irritating in any way. I've even used it on other parts of my body at times. I used to use Neutrogena Clean and Clear Spot Treatment with 2.5% salicylic acid but then I decided to try this which says it has double the amount of salicylic acid. I'm not sure how accurate that is, but it will say it's a good product and it seems to do well on my skin without any negative effects. I guess, depending on your skin type, maybe just test it out on small areas. But I use it just like any other Serum at night.
