Though the machine did its job (or so I thought), the work bowl and lid were flimsy and broke if you looked at it wrong. I re-glued the locking mechanism back together numerous times. It was also difficult to clean. To replace the crappy work bowl and lid was $110. Nope. I settled on the Breville based on my satisfaction with other Breville appliances I have and on reviews online and on UTube. It does not disappoint: Fast, quiet (relatively), and the blades are sharp as blue blazes. Bowl is much sturdier than the Quisinart and the locking mechanism is much less sensitive and easy to use. I’ve done Oreo cookie crust, sliced potatoes, chopped onions, garlic, tomatoes, and cilantro for salsa. Cilantro was perfect. Cut, not bruised. Worth the investment for sure! This machine has (so far) solved for me every problem I had with the old standby. The bowl is made of a thicker plastic that has the feel of being hard to crack or otherwise damage. The bottom of the bowl has a sealed center bearing, so no leakage if you fill the bowl more than halfway. Three different sizes of pushers and pusher openings to handle small or large vegetables. A holder for the sharp blade so you don't cut yourself in the drawer. Properly sized plastic blade, which I rarely use but still. A well-engineered grating, shredding, and slicing blade that can be adjusted for slice thickness or thinness. And as quiet as my OG because it's direct-drive (no internal gears to amp up the noise level). Safety interlocks and labels on everything are well-engineered and don't interfere with use. If this machine won't do what you want it to when you want it to, it's probably because you're risking cutting off a finger or something. One shortcoming, though, is a very short cord, designed for a countertop with an outlet close at hand. I had to add a 2-foot extension cord to reach over the edge and down to the outlet on our prep island. Finally, this 12-cup bowl size is substantially bigger than my OG. I don't think I'd want it bigger unless I was cutting up huge quantities of something to cook for a big crowd. The "Plus" is identical to the 12-cup processor, it is NOT a 16-cup processor (that is a different model entirely). The "Plus" includes a small processor bowl and serrated S-blade that fits it. The "Plus" includes the blade storage box also. **Q: Does it break down for storage, or do you need a 17 inch high space?** A: While the lid and bowl of the BFP660SIL Sous Chef 12 Cup™ can be removed and stored separately, the unit does not "break down" for storage. **Q: Can it shred baby carrots?** A: It can shred carrots of any age. This machine shames the Cusinarts! **Q: How high is the machine & bowl together without the lid? Can the lid invert into the bowl when not using? (18" is too too high for my counter.)** A: The height without the lid on is 11 1/2". I measured the height with the lid to be 17" if that helps you. The lid couldn't be inverted for storage because of the odd shape. It has one wierd thing I can't remember. It is way better than our past food processors that have broke. We hope it lasts a long while since it was spendy! It is worth it though since it is easy to use and slices veggies perfectly. We love to make hummus, pesto and other thngs in it.
