Review: USED but charged NEW - I have a person in mind for whom I got this. I opened the package. It was used !! The device was put back in the box with instructions. The instructions were even a mess; they were not placed in any protective packaging to prevent damage. Just put it in the box; even the box that it was shipped in was barely together. It drives NUTS that this happens so often. This is a $ 923.00 unit, not a $ 10.00 unit. I do not know how it will work until my friend, whom I got it for, uses it. I will decide whether to send it back or not after it is tested to see if it works. It was returned for a reason.

I have a person in mind for whom I got this. I opened the package. It was used !! The device was put back in the box with instructions. The instructions were even a mess; they were not placed in any protective packaging to prevent damage. Just put it in the box; even the box that it was shipped in was barely together. It drives NUTS that this happens so often. This is a $ 923.00 unit, not a $ 10.00 unit. I do not know how it will work until my friend, whom I got it for, uses it. I will decide whether to send it back or not after it is tested to see if it works. It was returned for a reason.

Tested on a known gas line that the utility had marked (it was ~3ft underground), and an electrical line that was 18" underground. It completely failed on the gas line (at all settings), and only partially detected the electrical line. I was unable to trace the electrical line more than a few feet.
