Seachem Tanganyika Buffer 250g Tanganyika Buffer is a blend of carbonate salts designed to enhance the natural environment of cichlids by increasing alkalinity, carbonate hardness, buffer capacity, and pH. It is formulated to maintain a pH of 9.0–9.4. For optimum replication of the Tanganyikan environment, use with Cichlid Lake Salt, Cichlid Trace, and NutriDiet Cichlid Flakes. If one is adding the buffer to an established tank with fish, I would start gradually, with small doses at first [as we lost a fish when dumping the entire dose in at once]. Maintains the pH of a tank
Using this to augment the sand for Tanganyika shellies. Seems to work well, keeping the pH at ~7.5-8. If one is adding the buffer to an established tank with fish, I would start gradually, with small doses at first [as we lost a fish when dumping the entire dose in at once].
