My physical therapist recommended them. They improve on standard poles because they have well-designed ergonomic grips. With these poles, I have less stress on my wrists and enhanced comfort. Length adjustability is good, but not infinitely adjustable like my other trekking poles with flip-locks. These aluminum poles are relatively light, but not quite as light as my carbon fiber poles. The weight difference (maybe an ounce or two?) is not a big deal. I purchased these Activator2 poles (vs. the original Activator poles) because they are shorter when fully collapsed, an advantage when traveling. As noted by others, the poles do not have wrist straps, which may be an issue for those hiking on trails or cross-country. Most of my walking is done in my neighborhood, so the lack of straps is not an issue. When I hike in the hinterlands, I will use my other poles.I have been using trekking poles for 15 years, since I was 60, because of mobility and balance issues. I use them whenever I leave the house. They are much better than walkers or rollators because they require more energy, helping maintain upper body strength, and are easily transported.If you have mobility issues, I recommend checking with your health insurance or using your HSA plan.These trekking poles are an improvement over standard trekking poles for those with mobility issues! ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Sturdy poles with great handles *by C***E on February 9, 2025* my husband has been using regular hiking poles with walking tips for balance. Like Ski poles, he had to pause each time to put on the straps at the top to keep them stable. The Activator2 poles - to accomodate his height - are a bit sturdier and very easy to adjust for height. They have two click in place catches that don't slip. The handles are great. They don't need straps and they support the edge of the hand, making them much more stable. Finally, the end has a round rubber tip that also provides stability. There's a point inside if you want to use it for hiking up trails, but for everything else, the rubber tips are great. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Top notch hiking poles! *by H***E on March 22, 2025* These hiking poles are great quality, work well, and are collapsible to fit in a suitcase. I took them on a European vacation for my semi-bad knee. They worked great. Will use in the park system to take hikes as well.
