great for my purposes
You need a mallet, and a ratcheting screwdriver will be helpful. I have a bad knee, where standing for long periods is uncomfortable. Was looking for this height stool to use during handbell practices. I tried the standard round stools and let me just say, those are NOT designed for normal size bottoms. This one, with a cushion, will be perfect I think. What's to like: Its SOLID. Once you get it assembled it feels sturdy. It is walnut finish, not walnut wood, so it's also lightweight for moving around. The instructions aren't the greatest but it took me 30 min start to finish to assemble, and that included a couple trips out to get better tools. There are some imperfections in the product where there are knots in the wood, but nothing major, and it looks better than I expected for something this cheap. What's not to like: not much, to be honest. the legs don't have any sort of floor protector--just sanded wood, so you'll want to add some stick on floor pads if you have hardwood. And that's about it for the cons. Assembly: while you could assemble this with the included hex wrench, make your life easier and get a ratchet. I don't think I"d use a power tool, too easy to over tighten. Also, the screws are pretty substantial--rub them over a piece of wax and they go in a lot easier. And abt those instructions. They've made it overly difficult. Assemble the left and right sides--don't tighten up yet. PUt the right set on per the instructions and then add the long side bars--both of them. Then add the second leg assembly and tighten everything (don't over tighten). The stool comes with little wooden plugs to cover the holes, but they aren't going to go in with just finger pressure--you need a mallet or something to pad the piece and a hammer.

A Perfect Blend of Style and Functionality: Winsome Satori Counter Stool, 24", Walnut
i recently purchased the Winsome Satori Counter Stool, 24", Walnut, and I couldn't be more pleased with my choice. This stool has truly exceeded my expectations in every way, and I am excited to share my experience with others. First and foremost, the design of this stool is simply stunning. The walnut finish adds a touch of elegance and sophistication to any space, seamlessly blending with various home décor styles. The saddle-shaped seat is not only visually appealing but also incredibly comfortable, providing excellent support for extended periods of sitting. The build quality of the Winsome Satori Counter Stool is exceptional. Crafted from durable solid wood, this stool is built to last. The sturdy construction ensures that it can withstand daily use without any signs of wear and tear. Additionally, the crossbars on all four sides add stability and serve as convenient footrests, enhancing the overall comfort and functionality of the stool. One of the standout features of this stool is its versatility. It fits perfectly in my kitchen, providing a comfortable seating option for meals and casual gatherings. It also works well in other areas of my home, such as the living room or bedroom, where it serves as a stylish and practical piece of furniture. The compact and space-saving design makes it ideal for smaller spaces, without compromising on functionality or style. Another aspect that I appreciate is the ease of assembly. The stool comes with all the necessary hardware and clear instructions, making the setup process quick and hassle-free. Within minutes, I had the stool assembled and ready to use, which was a pleasant surprise. In terms of comfort, the Winsome Satori Counter Stool does not disappoint. The saddle-shaped seat is ergonomically designed to provide optimal support and comfort, even during long periods of sitting. The height of the stool is perfect for my counter, allowing me to sit comfortably without feeling too high or too low. Overall, I am extremely satisfied with my purchase of the Winsome Satori Counter Stool, 24", Walnut. It combines style, durability, and comfort in a way that few other stools can match.

Very well built stool.
The following review summarizes the stools very well. It was extremely helpful with assembling. Let me start off by saying these bar stools look and feel very, VERY nice when they are finished. They are incredibly sturdy and I have no doubt they could survive an extremely long time and hold very heavy weight. As many other reviewers have noted, the assembly is a PAIN... with what they provide you in the box, that is! This is the only reason I did not rate these stools 5/5 stars. Here are some tips on what we did when assembling the stools that made them 1000x easier to put together: 1. Toss the allen wrench they provide you into the trash immediately. Don't even look at it, unless you feel like stripping the screws right off the bat. 2. Have a small ratchet, some wood glue (or normal school glue even), a microfiber cloth and a hammer handy. You will need to attach a 4mm hex bit to the ratchet for the screws they provide you (and yes, you CAN use the screws provided! They are good quality, although we are still unsure why they give you galvanized Tapcon screws intended for outdoor cement work... they're not cheap to produce!) 3. Assemble both the legs like Figure 1 in the instructions before you being to screw in the screws. Make SURE you use the correct pieces of wood in the correct holes (shorter cross piece goes in the lower hole, each side should have a long leg piece with a dot and a leg without a dot at the top) as well as the correct length screws (short, for this part). 4. When screwing in the screws, go slow and steady; do not apply too much force/torque at once or you WILL STRIP THE SCREW! Fortunately, if this happens (and you are not too close to the end) you can unscrew them out and use a replacement screw they provide you. With the ratchet, it is very easy to get the screws in quickly while not stripping them. Do the same process for the long screws for the seat. 5. When you finish assembling the body of the chair (including attaching the seat), choose a side of the stool you want to face the wall (in case you make a mistake on the first couple of cover pegs). Put a small glob of glue on the flat side of the wooden peg and put it in one of the holes on the side of the chair that will face the wall. Press it in as far as you can, then cover the peg with a microfiber cloth. Take the hammer and LIGHTLY tap it in, checking every once in a while to see how far down it's gone. If you hammer too hard or too deep, the peg will go too far in and splinter the wood surrounding it. Use the microfiber cloth to wipe up any excess glue and it won't leave residue on the chair. Hope this helps everyone! I am also attaching a picture of our stools in customer images.

Nice bar stool; right height for working.
This stool looks like high quality wood. It is comfortable and the right height to sit at a standard counter top and use it as a desk/table/work surface. It was easy to put together, although I should have placed a towel or something to protect the surface of the plugs that cap the screws in their holes--one or two plugs stripped of their finish as we pounded them into place. My kids like these stools and drag them all over the house for various uses. I wanted these stools for a pump organ and a weaving loom. They work okay for those, but are 1-2 inches too high. They will be better suited at the kitchen counter (as I needed those, too). I knew they might be too tall but was hoping they would work and do double duty. I guess I get to keep looking for an elusive 22-inch stool.

Nice stools at this price point
Nice stools for what you're paying (I shopped around, and at the time I ordered, Amazon's price was about half what some retailer wanted for the same stool). I ordered three. Two went together very easy. The third had a cracked wooden bar. Rather than return, I followed instructions that came with the product to get the piece replaced. Replacement bar (or strut/brace) arrived in less than a week. It wasn't an exact fit, but worked in well after about five minutes of sanding with 80 weight sandpaper. Taking a cue from other reviewers, I purchased a hex bit for my ratchet to ease assembly. Highly recommend using a ratchet, but be careful not to over tighten. Of three stools, only one screw began to strip (one of the longer ones used to attach the seat). I was able to complete assembly by using the included hex wrench that came with the kit (it provided a deeper insertion after the screw's surface was damaged). All three stools are stable and sturdy after assembly. I used just a touch of wood glue down the screw holes of the third stool to enhance construction strength. If the others work loose over time, I may disassemble and re-assemble adding glue. For the money, these can't be beat. The wood tone of all three stools I received was uniform, and goes well in a kitchen/dinning room combo largely furnished with cherry or mahogany tones. Plenty study for sitting. The braces between the legs fine for gently resting your feet on, but I would not recommend putting heavy body weight directly on the strut/braces. I've been using these just over a week, so I can't speak to long term durability. But I've assembled lots of furniture of this type over the years, and while this looks a bit on the lightweight side, it should be durable for my limited use as occasional seating at our kitchen island. And again, the Amazon price point was low, so I don't have much invested here. I could have paid twice at much at other online retailers, and possibly three times as much had I bought the same or similar stool assembled at a retail store. I'm quite satisfied at this point.

Pathetically poor quality
Surprisingly poor construction and finish for a Winsome product. I bought two and both had the same issues. 1. Finger joints in the wood are glaringly obvious on the seat top and are unevenly joined and poorly finish sanded before staining. 2. Screws are abysmal. Made from inferior metal, the recessed heads strip easily. Do yourself a favor and go buy some replacements. Get Torx (star drive) screws, not Phillips and not slotted. Hex heads will not fit in the countersunk holes drilled in the legs. 3. Trash the included 4mm Allen (hex) wrench as it is too made of unhardened metal and will cause you much grief and misery. 4. Pilot holes are drilled in every screw location. While this is a welcome feature, the holes are too shallow to fully drive the screws home. After installing one screw and hearing that familiar cracking noise of splitting wood, I stopped and red rolled all the pilot holes to the correct depth. 5. There is only 1 screw holding each leg to the seat with less than 1/2” of wood holding the leg. It needs two screws and a metal reinforcement bracket at the joint. This is a common failure point due to stress on the joint. 6. Legs are uneven lengths, causing the stool to rock. Again, the leg ends are not square and random. Some edges rounded, some with a cut. 7. Instructions tell you to match white dots on the ends of 2 legs with corresponding white dots on sear base. There are no white dots.. there are some faint smears of red color too faint to see without a flashlight. Honestly, it looked like some on stuck their finger and smeared blood on the wood. Fit and joint quality is poor at best. Some parts are very loose and some needed sanding to fit in the holes. There is very little “saddle” to the seat, just a shallow dip. I bought 2 of these stools and had to return one as it had a long, large split through the seat. Some attempt had be made to hide the split as it looked like a marker had been rubbed over the damaged area. Company did not respond to my email for assistance.

Strong & Good-looking
My only complaint: this is the first "used" item I've bought from Amazon -- there were no instructions. If this is normal, I won't be buying anything else 'used'. Fortunately, the stool was fairly easy to assemble using common sense, but this isn't always the case, particularly regarding the best order of assembly. So, no more "used" items for me. The 4 stars for 'Easy to assemble' should perhaps be 5: it was easy, but I had a hard time tightening the seat screws, even using pliers to turn the key. However, the 'acceptable' condition was more than acceptable: like new, except for a small chip & a hardly-noticeable scratch. It's well made & very sturdy, & looks great. It's too big for where I'd planned to use it -- in my tiny kitchen, where I need to sit down frequently. (Foot-spread measurements from all manufacturers would be a good idea?) But I've found another home for it, & am very pleased with it. An excellent product.
