🌍 Shake Things Up with Science!
The American Educational Seismograph Model is a tabletop unit designed to demonstrate the measurement of seismic waves generated by earthquakes. With a compact size of 12" wide and 9" high, it records the intensity of simulated earthquakes using a stylus and paper roll, making it an ideal educational tool for classrooms and home learning.

Didn't really work
Didn't really seem to work for the purpose intended. I understand it was cheap, but c'mon. Even the pepper roll was a odd size not carried by either of the two large office supply retailers. Wished I'd picked a project that didn't require a seismograph.

Seismograph
This product arrived in a timely manner and well packaged. It was easy to assemble. For teaching purposes, it gives a nice visual, as well as hands-on. Obviously, there are too many variables for it to be scientifically accurate, but still a good tool for elementary use.

Nice!
Inexpensive. This is a great tool for teaching about earthquakes, seismic waves, seismographs, seismograms, and the Richter scale.

not worth the money
I would not buy again. Product does poor job of modeling seismograph. Overpriced for what you get in terms of product.

Looks good...works okay.
This was purchased to accompany a science fair project that one of my students did on earthquakes. It looks really good which is why he wanted to get it (better than a home-made seismograph). In use, it was only so-so. It's good for illustrating the components of a good working seismometer, but we were never able to get a good looking seismograph from it.

Little disappointed
Did not read that it was a demonstration unit not a real Seismograph

Worked Fine
bought this for a science fair project. Worked fine for our purposes but touchy. the wire holding the pen keeps falling.

Price is a rip-off as this is just a 'model' ...
Price is a rip-off as this is just a 'model' for demonstration purpose only. (As stated in the manual at page 5 as well). Supplied marker was too short in length and it would barely scratch the paper's surface. (In case of an earthquake, it would also require an 'operator' to record pen/marker's moves ,and and to make sure that it comes back at the middle position after each jolt).Again, I must repeat that it is not a working model and it does not has any motorized/automated roller etc. Nothing would keep the pen/needle at the centre or to record it accurately.
