The Stainless Steel Mesh Tea Ball is a great ! It held up well after long use without any rust, which is impressive. It worked efficiently for brewing tea and the quality is excellent. I highly recommend this tea ball for anyone looking for a durable and effective brewing solution!

I bought this to keep in my backpack for camping or.......well...backpacking. I bought this to make tea or coffee and not take up a lot of space like a coffee pot or french press would take up. I see a lot of other complaints on this item, saying it is cheeply made or some have trouble with it sealing. First of all, this is a very low cost item. It is made well enough that it will work with no problems. But......you may want to check the hinge part, and make sure it is pressed together. Now from what I have seen after making 10 cups of coffee with it, if it gets damaged, it will be from operator error. When you unlock the latch and open it up, do it easily and make sure the halves open oposing each other. Wash and rinse easily, and let it dry, then close it, latch it, and check the hinge. Just in case you need to adjust it. If you let it flop around or allow the halves to twist, or twist opposing each other, it will open up the hinge enough that it may not shut securely the next time you use it. But all you have to do is latch it, and press the hinge section back tight. Not rocket science, not hard to do, and an easy fix. You just have to be a little conscientious, and do a little preventive inspection and adjustment from time to time. But for a backpacker or camper, the low cost, space and weight savings it offers is a great trade for being a little careful with it.

The tea ball is okay. It's kept its shape, the mesh is good, and the latch and seal on mine work fine. Seeing all the complaints on these two issues, I guess I got lucky. Mine has rusted a little bit, but I probably need the iron. ;) I wouldn't buy another one, given the complaints and time frames. It took over a month to get here. I inquired of the company after about three weeks of waiting. I received a reply in broken English that it was shipping from China and would arrive soon. Okey, doke, it came about ten days later.

My expectations for this were very low, but I thought I'd try this before I got a more spendy tea ball. I'm glad I did, because this is a great, basic tea ball. It works. It holds the tea leaves. It submerges in my hot water. It opens and closes. It makes delicious tea out of whatever I put in it. So, it does everything that I had hoped for. However, all of the criticisms about this tea ball are probably true. The clasp is a little difficult to open and close. I found the chain absolutely worthless, but I didn't want to use it anyway. Luckily, the chain is very easy to remove. The parts aren't the highest quality, and I wouldn't be surprised if it breaks in 3-6 months. But, I'll definitely get another one even when it breaks, because I think that this is great value. This is the holder we got for the bulk chamomile flowers that we got on Amazon to make tea with and it works great. It did come apart once but it was easy to put it back together and it has worked fine ever since so we continue to use it and we like the hook that hooks onto the edge of the mason jar and the chain dangles down far enough so that the chamomile flowers that are in there can get saturated and the steeping is easy because you can just lift the hook and steep and make your tea as strong as you like. Just replace the hook on the edge of the jar and put the lid on and store it in the refrigerator. Pour a cup or glass when thirsty or just for relaxing or sleeping. We had a spoon holder with holes in it but the handle wasn't long enough so this is quite an improvement.

We needed a spice ball that would hold a little more than 2 tablespoons of a chunky pickling spice for a large, corned beef, and this seemed to be the perfect size that we needed, as our 2-inch ball was too small. This took a lot of work with needle nose pliers to be able to get the clip to hold the two pieces together and to close all the way and seal properly, without having to return it, but I got it done, and it was working very well. It worked very good without leaking loose spices all over the vegetables that were in with the beef. It looked to be that everything was going to be very good, and it cleaned up easily. After 5 weeks, I took it out of the drawer to look at it, and it was not closed at all, and I noticed that the clip was not holding the top and bottom sections together. Then without using any force at all, the clip fell off together with the piece that top hole goes over when you close it. So, it only lasted for 1 use, and now it is not able to be used again. I started to write this review a couple of weeks ago, and say how much I liked it, and would have probably given it 4 stars, but that did not go as I planned. It looks like the same style clip is used for most makes of these, so I definitely will avoid purchasing another one that has a clip like this. The 2-inch ball of this brand that I bought locally, seems to be in very good shape, but now I am very worried about it also. I guess it might be that you just need to be lucky enough to have received a good one, and not a lemon. That seems to be the way it is with all most everything now days. Good Luck! FYI Just to let everyone know that the size listed for spice balls are measured from the outside diameter. The inside diameter of most all of these balls, where you put the spice in are 1/2 inch shorter. So, a 2-inch ball is really 1-1/2 inch, and a 3-inch ball is really 2-1/2 inch and so forth, and you can really only put spices in either the top half or bottom half, so you are also only using 1/2 of the ball. So, you will probably need a larger one than you think.

I don't really know why so many people are complaining...Mine came in a nice package, the metal toggle is pretty strong, and the metal pin is well, what it is supposed to be and is much thicker than some I have owned. It's more sturdy than the one you will pay 5.99 for at the grocery store that is for sure. I have a few versions of tea infusers and strainers, I don't use any of them in a mug or cup that I drink out of. I always use a 3 cup ceramic pot for shorter sessions and a full pot for long days at the drafting table. I also do not leave these stewing in the tea after the appropriate time has passed. When I clean them, which is right after use, I dry it and I never toss them in a dishwasher. I bought this one just to have for my thick bark like teas. I never use mesh for fine teas that most people are used to in teabags, I just use a reusable baggy or a large loose leaf paper bag that hooks onto a funnel (best lazy loader ever XD) Yes it is made in China but not everything from China is crap, there are legit manufacturers there >.> Sometimes you play roulette, sometimes you get a good deal. I don't expect an add-on to be something mega awesome fabulous that my grandchildren would use. :P
