How do you clean this thing? Do you take off the collar every time?

I rinse it, I rinse the collar only if necessary. Once a week or more often if needed, I pop it in the dishwasher - just the glass - perfectly clean!

Is the "regular size" 6 cups?

I'm not sure what you mean by "regular. " The 6-cup Chemex coffeemaker will hold 30 oz, which is six 5-oz. Cups. That is a small mug, by American standards. A more typical mug size (American) is anywhere between 8 and 12 oz. So, the 6-cup size would serve between three and four mugs, again, depending upon the size of the mug. I hope this helpful.

Chemex recommends a medium grind with a burr. Reviews say the Harlo burr grinder doesn't consistently work for a medium grind. Any recommendations?

I started with a Hario when I first stated using Chemex brewers. The price and size was great, but I also found that the grind was inconsistent. I've since switched to using the 1Zpresso JX grinder with great results. It's pricier than the Hario grinders but it produces consistent results, doesn't need to be readjusted between uses, and grinds faster and easier thanks to the larger burr. Way late on the reply, but hopefully this helps someone out.
