Happy beginnings
I do love a book that makes me laugh. Mr Romance had me smiling and giggling in equal measure. Eden Tate is the kind of girl I wish I had been in my younger days. She’s funny, sassy, knows what she wants in life i.e. an amazing job, a great time with her friends and lots of peen. She also has Nannabeth. And I really really wish I had a Nannabeth with a pet duck called Moby. She stole the book. In order to get said amazing job Eden is looking for a scoop of a story. She is hot on the trail of Mister Romance, the sexy male escort who will role play your fantasy for a cute price. I’ll take the Adam Levine fantasy please and thank you. Along comes Max or is it Kieran to help her write the story of Mr R. I did think the story line was ingenious but I think it could have been so much better. I will always believe in the swoon and the happy ever after.

Looking forward to more of this series
This is the first book I have read by this author, and I quite liked it. I enjoyed the characters, I enjoyed the way they engaged in banter, and I enjoyed the story. I will definitely check out more of this author's work.

Leisa Rayven has once again delivered a jewel of a book.
We meet Eden Tate, a journalist who is stuck in a job much beneath her potential. Her sister then gives her a tip about a possibly career-changing story. This leads her to eventually meet Max Riley. Their interactions confront Eden with her own demons and emotional hang-ups, and force her to reevaluate her outlook on life. The random hook-up Eden had at the beginning of the book serves to show her attitude towards dating and sex. She doesn’t expect a romantic fairytale. The name mishap with the guy in question was either a funny coincidence or a clever NCIS reference. The first few times Kieran made an appearance I was a bit confused as to his role in this story. It is clear that he and Eden are attracted to each other, and her reasoning for turning him down makes sense within her own self-image and logic. However, I wondered how this would work once Eden got to know Max; would Kieran still play an active role or would he be dismissed to the background? And then BAM! Surprise! The chemistry and attraction between Eden and Max are palpable, but Eden is reluctant to give into this. I like how the author explains the origins of her issues, and I think they will resonate on some level with many readers. I know it did with me. Max is also not as perfect as his Mr. Romance persona may appear. Combined, their backgrounds make for a challenging and interesting road to common ground. The supporting characters are a wonderful addition in their variety and their different roles in the story. I especially enjoyed the scenes with Moby Duck – he’s hilarious! As this is the first book of the Masters of Love series, it does a great job of pulling the reader in. Leisa Rayven has a way of making complex characters with troubled backgrounds likeable, even loveable. I found myself liking Max and his various personas very much. His chivalrous and romantic gestures actually reminded me quite a bit of my own boyfriend… I look forward to the next books in this series!

Five Fab Stars !
Reviewed by Rachel & Sharon Thérèse If we found Ms Rayven's remarkably eloquent vocabulary fun and totally fitting for this contemporary romantic comedy, the innovative plot left us with our mouths agape! Ooh boy, and the cadence in her writing style couldn't possibly have been better. The narrative flow streams forth everything we look for in a good story; laugh out loud scenarios, antsy emotional moments and a titillating build-up to passionate steaminess. She's also cannily conveyed her characters moods and traits making each and everyone of them special. As per usual in all her books and this one is of no exception, the dialogue is quintessential. Well. . .we're both suckers for it, we can never seem to get enough and here Leisa made sure our banter-addiction was sated. “What an unexpected surprise to see you here tonight. Don’t take this as the corny line it seems to be, but do you come here often?” More often than not we go into our reads blind. Having a good idea of the genre is a must for us, but how exciting it is to have that element of surprise! In this case, it was delivered in such a way that we can honestly say we were given the WOW EFFECT underlined and highlighted! Seeing as we'd like the same thing to happen to you, we're going to do our utmost to make this review as spoiler free as possible. Nonetheless, what we can do is give you our opinion regarding two of the most delightful protagonists we've meet in a long time, and whose story is told in first person present tense. “One day you’ll meet a guy who will change your mind about men, and when that happens I’m going to laugh, and gloat, and probably make a laughy-gloaty YouTube video to commemorate the occasion.” “Doubtful.” “Definitely.” Although Eden Tate is by no means your typical heroine, it's difficult not to like her. In fact, we became smitten with this strong stubborn young woman early on in the story. Saying that, we're absolutely sure this comment would peeve her off greatly since she's not one to go out of her way to impress others. She’s very comfortable in her own skin, not in the slightest bit pretentious, doesn't give a toss about fashion or being seen in the right places, and has no unrealistic expectations of the opposite sex. Her happy single and fancy free attitude was exactly what drew her to us. All she's interested in is getting the recognition she thinks she deserves from her not so nice boss. She loves her job, hates the assignments she's ordered to do and like most journalists, waiting for that big break. “You have twenty-four hours to secure an interview, or I’m telling payroll you don’t work here anymore. Got it?” We have to admit that we had our suspicions about one of the character's goings on early on in the book. We even thought the author was playing a mind game with us because it all seemed a tad easy to suss out. Ahh, but you see, nothing is what it seems. Leisa was cleverly fuelling our imagination and testing our patience by holding back a bomb that dropped in the most unlikely of places and we freaking well loved it!. And what is more, being on red alert alongside Eden wasn't enough. First confusion kicked in and then the realisation left us all dumbfounded. This whole scenario and many more to come were so vividly illustrated, we could see them playing out in our heads. “...Eyes speak truths mouths refuse to, and liars always find a reason to glance away.” Mister Romance! Now here's a guy who literally charmed the pants off us. . . no pun intended! And not only can he multitask (oops, a rarity in the male species), but also changes his multifaceted persona like a chameleon changes its colours. Sounds confusing, doesn't it? Imagine the man of your dreams whose role-playing skills satisfy your innermost desires! Of course, to make things more interesting, strings are attached. Max Riley’s got secrets. Secrets which could cause a scandal or three! And Eden’s dead set on finding out every little one of them. What she wasn't banking on was getting to know the real man beneath his façade. What we weren't banking on was him! Max is complicated, gorgeous, mysterious and in part, we blame him for us not being able to put the book down. “Out of all the ladies I know, I find you the most ... interesting.” “I’m not interesting at all. I’m a simple creature with simple needs.” This full-length novel merits reiterating how much we adored it. The storyline per se, is excellently executed, creative and super sexy. The characters; secondary ones included, are stunning. We have no intentions of letting on whose turn it is next in the follow-up because we'd really love you to take a chance on Mister Romance. Ms Rayven, bravo!

Mister Romance is by new-to-me author Leisa Rayven. This book was listed a few times in a book recommendation thread on another site for being a slow burn romance. The other category was enemies to lovers, but that wasn't really the case here, but it was certainly a slow, but oh so hot, burn….. The premise of this book grabbed my attention from the first. An escort that fulfils the romantic fantasies of women, who can afford him, by taking them out on dates that are just out of this world. A big plus was that his services were not physically sexual, it is all role-playing with nothing more than possibly a kiss or a not so intimate touch. It’s all about making a woman feel desired and special, rather than the physical. I’ll admit the thought of a ‘full service’ escort as a romantic lead squicks me a bit. Simply because I don’t think I’d ever go there. The only exception is Julian from LH Cosway’s Fauxmance, but even that is a special case because well, I don’t want to spoil anything, just accept my advice that if you haven’t read Cosway’s Showmance & Fauxmance you don’t know what you are missing! Ok, back on point…. So my expectations were for a good read and a really interesting story. Perhaps some laughs, definitely some angst, and I knew (hoped) it would be hot, but basically a light and ‘feel good’ read. I could not have been more wrong! Mister Romance is a cerebrally sensual exploration of romance and the human condition. I haven’t been this mentally and emotionally seduced by a new book in a long time!! There is not much actual sex, apart from a bit of a dry hump, nothing happens until the last 25% of the novel, but you know what? I didn’t even notice! For me, it felt like the characters were going at it for the entire book. This author didn't need the physical act to make it one of the hottest stories I've read in a long time. Mister Romance resonated with me on so many levels. I could empathise with Eden and recognised a lot of myself in her and her situation; and as for Max whose heart wouldn’t bleed for him? Special mention goes to Moby. That scene on Nannabeth’s roof with him and Max doing pushups and laps around the pool – cuteness overload!! It takes a special skill to write a book such as this; to make a story so emotionally intense without making it heavy or depressing. It is being able to blend the almost exhaustively passionate and emotional scenes with a dash of humour, and wonderful secondary characters that allow the story to lighten in a smooth and natural way. The result is a rollercoaster of sensation, but one that doesn’t leave you feeling emotionally spent. I’ve only come across a few authors over the years that can successfully do this, but when it is done well, it’s an experience that can sometimes change you on some level, but at the very least it’s one heck of a ride! Mister Romance met my initial expectations and then threw them out the window as it went beyond anything I could have predicted. This was my first Leisa Rayven book, but if her others are anything like Mister Romance, it certainly won’t be my last!

I read a lot of romance books...a lot, like 3-4 a week. This is the first book by this author and will not be my last. It is hard to find original material when you read as much as me so it was very refreshing to find this book. I loved that it did not fall into the usual traps that you can see coming a mile away but instead subtly diverged from the well beaten path to make its own new trail. Very very funny and witty and Max is definitely my new book boyfriend! Great read!!
