Excellent air quality & a clean shop
I've got a basement woodworking shop and this is the perfect addition to keep my lungs clear and my machinery sawdust free. It comes all assembled you'll just need to mount it to your ceiling. It looks heavier than it is. I was able to install it by myself, although I'd recommend a second set of hands. Changing each of the two filters is super easy and its tool less to perform that task. It is pretty quiet too I've noticed in the rare moments there's no machinery running. I definitely recommend this air cleaner.

Very effective. Great value.
Arrived unscathed in a double box with the extra filters I ordered. Hung about half way along one of the four 16’ sides of a square woodshop out about 2’ from the wall. The remote is responsive and was immediately operative with included batteries. The chosen location creates circular air flow and enhances air cleaning. After only 2 days of moderate wood working the outside filter is already turning a sawdust color. I find little need to run the fan above low speed as the air flow is plenty for my shop size. Just a few minutes after sawing there is scarcely any airborne dust visible. Looking forward to a cleaner shop and lungs.

Works Well
Works great. Took me a minute to figure out how to get the remote to work but once I did, its working fine. Quiet enough for my shop. I have asthma so cleaning the sanding dust etc., has become rather important to me.

Not bad for a hobbyist shop
The good news is that it works fairly well. The filter started out white and now, two months later, it is quite yellow from the airborne dust. So much so that I'm already considering an additional filter. The so-so news is that even on high, I don't think this move enough air to be really effective. The noise level is acceptable, but I think that is the result of the fan not really moving a lot of air. In my opinion, a stronger fan would be worth the additional noise level. I've also noted that the timer, which is a nice feature, seems to be a little problematic. The unit has 3 preset times, the longest being 4 hours, which is what I use most often. The problem is that it will occasionally turn off within about 20 minutes. It starts right back up and continues without complaint, but it's still bothersome. For the price, I would consider it again, but if the need arises, I'll probably look somewhere else.

Won't power on, appears to be refurbished?
It's defective out of the box. The blower motor will not turn on. The control panel lights up, the remote works, the various settings appear to work, but all I get is a slight hum from the blower motor in the back regardless of High/Medium/Low settings. I checked the fuse (on the back panel, unscrew with a Philips head screwdriver) with my multimeter and it's fine. The screws on the unit also appear stripped. I don't know if I got a refurbished unit -- even though I paid full price for a new one -- but a very frustrating experience. I will not be buying a replacement Powertec and will be staying away from the brand. Though I might buy a Wen, since I've had better luck, and they make an almost identical model probably out of the same factory. Buyer beware!

Great for small projects and small spaces.
A solid built unit, easy to operate. Good for a small shop or temporary work area. Best for wood dust, not for sheet rock dust. Also works well to prevent migration of dust to adjacent areas. Two stage filters a nice plus. And they can be cleaned. While you could put multiple units in a large shop, that's really not the design intent. You need a full blown dust collector for that.

Initial impression - Outstanding for the price paid!
Initial impression and photo's. (It will be installed in my shop tomorrow, but I was so impressed with it, I wanted to take a few pics and post up my initial review.) Packing was minimal, however item was received undamaged. It's secured in a box by two hard foam inserts on it's face and rear. Unboxing was easy, and as you can see from the pic's, it's painted a nice slate grey/blue. I plugged it in, and hit the button and on it went. The noise level is enough to know that it's running, however I'm sitting on my couch watching TV with the unit directly below the TV and I didn't need to turn up the TV to keep hearing it at the same level. (I can also hear my wife talking to the dog upstairs with no problem, however full disclosure, that's to be expected I'm guessing my neighbors can hear her too.... ) The noise level between low, med and high, is noticeable, but the noise on high isn't enough to be a bother so I can't imagine running it on any other speed. I haven't used the remote yet, and I'll be updating this review in about a week after I've done a good cleaning of my basement shop, and then made a mess again. My shop is a basement shop, about 25x16x7.5 and I'll include a pic of that too once it's mounted. The Day 1 of use follow up - Installing it was easy, I put 4 screws in my floor joists, and used the included chains to hang it. It took about 10 min overall. I used it while cutting 8 panels to length (16 cuts) and then cutting a tenon on each of the panels (16 tenons). What I didn't realize was my dust collector was completely clogged and was not doing a good job sucking, so I also started to troubleshoot that and let's just say that created a nasty dust cloud in the air. I removed the filter, went outside to clean it out and blow it out, and upon returning, (about 10 min) the shop air was pretty close to perfect. Assuming this thing keeps working, it'll be an outstanding purchase. Complaints - The remote isn't ideal, but it's sitting near my light switch and I'll be turning it on when I start working and letting it run for an hour after I'm done - I'm not going to be turning it on and off throughout my working down there. The noise level of it in the shop on high was minimal, and couldn't be heard when wearing ear protection, and wasn't really noticeable over music that I also can't hear with hearing protection on. 7 Month follow up - No change in performance, I've blown out both filters a few times now and I'm not gonna lie, it's kinda scary the amount of particulate that this thing catches. If I had to guess, it's likely run for about 8 hours a week since ownership. I'm a hobbyist that will spend 2-3 hours at a time in the shop and let it run on the timer for another hour or two once I'm done. It's not loud enough to be noticeable, especially when wearing ear protection and I think that this is a good value in it's class. (CFM's/Filter/Price Point)

I needed an air cleaner but was concerned about noise levels, workshops generate enough noise without another droning on non stop. So one of the things that attracted me to this machine was reviews that praised its low noise level, and I can say that I am very happy. It runs in the background and you don't notice it at all. What you do notice though is the reduction in dust and cleaner air. Also I really appreciate being able to use the timer to let it run from 1 to 3 hours after you leave. Very happy with this product.

Great product. It is super quiet and does an excellent job at filtering the air. I love the automatic shut off feature. It allows me to leave the room while it cleans the dust then turns off after it is done!

The unit works great in my metalworking shop to catch floating particulate and metal dust. The remote works well, the timer function is super handy, moves lots of air, and collects lots of dust. Noise level is perfectly acceptable in a workshop and doesn’t bother me. Seems solidly built enough for the price. I only really have two complaints and those are 1 The filters are realistically too expensive for how often you have to change them. I make a lot of dust but I can plug a filter up pretty quick. 2 The internal cone shaped filters need a foam gasket on the face to press against the pleated pre filter. What happens is that because there is no real seal there, if your pleated pre filter becomes too plugged, it will just suck air around that filter and pull the dust into the internal filter which is much finer, plugs way easier, and is more expensive. I didn’t catch the main filter in time on two occasions and plugged up an internal filer, meaning I had to replace both. To solve this I boat 1/2” wide medium density open cell foam weatherstripping tape on a large roll and I tape all the way around the aluminum face of the internal filter. Then when the pre filter is installed it seals against that and forces all the air to come through that pre filter instead of around it. A few bucks in foam tape means I now get about triple the life out of my internal filter and normally only have to replace the pre filter rather than both.
