Stainless steel contains no lead. I cannot attest to the fastener holding the knob.

I don't understand your question. The dome would be for concentrating heat in order to melt cheese. A burger press is for pressing burgers. Two different applications Buy both. I've found this one to be quite good. Look Here

What’s behind the complaints about rusting?

While they are made of stainless steel, they can still rust if they are not properly cleaned after each use. Please be sure to clean by hand washing with a mild soap and storing inside when not in use.

Are these dishwasher safe or must they be hand washed?

These kids are great quality I would say you could put them in the dishwasher. I wash by hand because don't like dishwashers.

Ich hatte vorher schon zwei andere Versionen von anderen Herstellern, wo ich jedes Mal unzufrieden war, da es nicht so war, wie ich es mir gewünscht hätte. Bei diesen funktioniert es endlich perfekt. Der Griff bleibt kalt und ist stabil, die Wärmeverteilung unter der Kuppel ist gleichmäßig, so dass der Käse auf dem Paddy schön schmilzt.
