This stuff is INCREDIBLE! Move over, chalk paint!
Pros: Where do I start?! Cons: Nope. This. Paint. Is. MAJIC! I feel like I can say that with some credibility, being that I also make and sell my own paints (watercolors) Other than painting on paper though, I recently have updated my entire house, floor to ceiling, and I love a good DIY moment. Being able to save some dough, get creative, and wind up with a custom piece... what could be better? So right now Iโm making a MegaDesk, inspired by my weekend stay at a lovely little B&B in Scranton, PA - Schrute Farms, maybe youโve heard of it? The irrigation suite was delightful! Anyways, that was a reference, not an actual anecdote, and if you understood it you get a gold star. But, in all seriousness, I decided I did need to create a giant โMegaDeskโ for my bedroom/office where I run my small business - everything from production to marketing to shipping, as well as painting for fun in my spare time - happens at my desk. Despite using every trick in the book to maximize my space, I just did not have an adequate surface area to work with. I bought 2 cube storage shelves to serve as the legs/foundation of the desk-counter hybrid, and hit the hardware store to have them cut the top for me. It was supposed to be a white melamine panel, but the store screwed up and I wound up with a very heavy, albeit sturdy, panel of sanded MDF. It measures 7.5ft L x 3ft W (roughly the size of a twin bed). I had no idea how I would take the panel from a raw, sanded finish to a surface that was resilient, pretty to look at, easy to accomplish, and wouldnโt cost a fortune. Yikes. Chalk paint? Epoxy? Contact paper? Enamel? Spray paint? Ugh. The Amazon gods demonstrated mercy and my search resulted in this miracle paint. Reading the reviews, I was like - OMG! Tile?! Appliances?! No WAY! It says on the can to prime raw wood, but I took my chances just laying down the Diamond Hard Majic Paint over the dry, dust-free panel. I bought 2 quarts and I donโt think Iโll even finish the first one. First coat went down so easy and by the time I got to one end of the panel, the other was dry enough for a second coat touch up type deal. One more solid coat and itโll be perfect. I am so beyond happy and canโt wait to use this on other projects throughout my home!

Perfect for painting with no need for sanding!
I was committed to writing a review for this paint because I had benefitted from othersโ reviews here. If you have furniture or items you want to paint but donโt want to sand (I loathe sanding!) then get this paint! Itโs an enamel type that ensures it holds up better than a standard latex paint. I included pics because the Mocha color is more of a purple-ish brown and was not what I expected nor what I wanted. So I bought the Black color and mixed it (1/3 Mocha to 2/3 Black) and it came out beautiful on the piano, which had a cherry stain, so there is a slight red hue which I like. The Black color did look blue when it came out do the can but mix it well and it dries as Black. I also used the White color on kitchen chairs and it is holding up great in a house with two kids and two dogs! I will note I wanted a thick solid color so I did multiple coats, maybe 3-4 but each subsequent coat required less time/work. I recommend this paint 100% for people who love DIY projects but hate sanding!

I LOVE this stuff...painting Thermofoil cabinets is no longer impossible!
I moved into a house with cheap white Thermofoil cabinets and while they are in ok condition, the white has started to yellow. I looked everywhere for a paint that would adhere to Thermofoil, watched a ton of videos online about painting Thermofoil and felt really discouraged. Everyone had a different idea about it, and a lot of peiple said don't even try to paint Themofoil. So, I called the manufacturer and they said because Thermofoil is a type of vinyl, it should work, but that I could use a primer if I wanted to. Well, Majic paint IS Magic!!. I painted my white bathroom vanity black and it's GORGEOUS! I did prime it first because Thermofoil is a type of vinyl, but if I did it again, I'd skip the primer. This paint went on smoothly on the back of a door I forgot to prime and seems to be adhering just as well. The paint is self-leveling, so around the door panels where i needed to use a brush, it still came out smooth. For a large project I'd use my paint sprayer, but for this small project, I used 4" velour rollers - NOT foam - and it went on smoothly and dried to the most amazing finish. I used 2 coats, applied a day apart, but honestly, 1 coat looked fantastic. 2 coats on the entire bathroom vanity and I still have about a third of the can left. Next, I'm going to do my master bathroom. Maybe one day, I'll get ambitious and do my lower kitchen cabinets. I love this stuff!

Disappointed
I have 40 year old Formica kitchen cabinets. They have a dark stained oak handle that I wanted to paint black. I cleaned and sanded the handles, but this paint would have required at least 4-5 coats to cover. I primed and used 2 coats of Krylon latex and it worked fine. I hope it will work on your project, but it didnโt on mine. I added 2 more stars. Although the paint didnโt work well on my old oak handles, I used it on some new pine boards for under the cabinets and with 3 coats it did very well. Happy now.

First time? A must have for DIY backsplash makeover!
This is the first time ever painting backsplash and i used it in the Master bathroom shower where there appears to be discoloration and mildew present. I am amazed and happy with my purchased as it transformed the shower to almost new! Here are the supplies i also used and steps: Other supplies: S.O.S pads (dollar tree) Comet powder (green can>dollar tree) Handheld scrubber (dollar tree) Scraper/razor Blow dryer Paint roller set (dollar tree) Fan! Instructions: Do this before the next step *Get out all the old mildew caulk/silicon off first! If its too hard to get off then make sure you use blow dryer to help make it easier with heat to soften it for easier removal. Use scraper (dollar tree) or razor blades. Then vacuum all the residue! Cleaning: 1.wet the shower area and sprinkle the comet powder all over the shower tile wall and floor. Waited 10 mins. 2. Wet the S.O.S pad and start scrubbing 3. Use the additional handheld scrubber to scrub if you run out of S.O.S pad and just scrub until you feel that is the best you can try to clean it 4. Rinse off everything and wait for it dry or paper towel hand dry (thats what i did) or can use hair blower. Painting: Make sure you have windows open or use a fan for ventilation! I just poured the this paint onto the paint tray and start rolling the paint with pint roller. Make sure to do 2 coats! I didn't wait cause i used the fan to help the process go faster so i just paint second coat within 30 mins. Overall I do recommend this! Enjoy and have fun!

Good Coverage & Color, Horribly Patchy
A little goes a long way, I was very surprised. I bought a small tin just to do 1 wall & a sink unit & I still have over half a tin left. I love the teal color, it's so nice & a great contrast to the white walls I didn't plan on painting. However, this dried so horribly patchy, my wall looks nasty (see images.) I used decorator's tape for edges & when I peeled it off, it peeled chunks of the paint with it so I had to go over it again very carefully without using tape. It claims that you don't need an undercoat or any prep things like Killz, but you must have to, because paint easily peeling from a surface like this is not normal. The sink unit I painted, the paint won't stay on that surface either, so I had to re-do it about a week later after even more began peeling off. Overall, this was a huge disappointment. I see so many great reviews, which are what made me buy it in the first place, so I don't know what happened with my specific paint, but I am very unhappy & I personally don't recommend this product. Just look at the state of my walls after 2 coats! (And yes, I stirred the paint very well before using it!) Maybe my issue is an anomaly, but I definitely will not buy this again.

Transform your worn furniture, no need for primer or topcoat!
I have a wood and granite bathroom vanity that is in terrible condition and too heavy to replace easily. The vanity is a cute shape and a great size, so I tried revamping it instead of buying a new vanity. One can was more than enough to do 4 coats. I probably could have done just 3 coats, but this is in a steamy high traffic bathroom so I wanted the paint to be durable. The project took two days due the 8 hour dry time between coats, but it was a relatively easy project because I didn't do much prep work. I sanded the rough parts, cleaned with windex, did a very light sanding all over, and cleaned with a tack cloth. Then I just painted my 4 coats. The first was a light coat with foam brushes, then 3 coats with a brush and mini roller. I loved that I just bought one can of paint rather than having to buy a primer, paint, and topcoat. The paint dried well and we were able to use the vanity after the last coat dried for 8 hours. The paint is very fragile for about a week, but dries to a hard finish. After a month the finish was fully cured and almost impossible to dent with a fingernail. I was afraid to buy the pure white to cover the dark wood, so I went with ivory. No regrets, it looks fine. I'm pretty sure the white would have covered just as well. The paint hid the wood grain and filled in uneven areas. The paint cleaned well off my brush and roller with just water and dish soap. The can came sealed with metal tabs. The paint appeared fresh and well blended. It smelled like latex paint and was not overwhelming indoors. I'm very pleased that I got so much mileage out of this small can. Well worth the price and I would rebuy again. Hope you found this review helpful ๐

Some good/some bad and a steep learning curve but overall loved this paint
I have such mixed feelings about this paint. It is beautiful and thick when you open it with a blue tint but goes on and dries perfectly black. Even though it said you did not have to prep the surface, I sanded and washed my cabinet doors before applying this paint. Goes on nice and smooth and evenly. I did 2 solid coats of paint, letting it dry for days in between with a final 3rd touch up coat before remounting. I remodeled my kitchen before I moved in so was not living in or using the kitchen when I painted my cabinets. Because of this there were several days drying time between coats and before remounting which I thought would be plenty to let them cure thus avoiding any chipping as mentioned in other reviews. Unfortunately, I found myself touching up EVERY single door after they were re hung. I painted the inside of my cabinets and have open shelves so glasses and dishes are touching the paint. After a week, there were scuff marks everywhere from plates being slid out. I touched up all of the shelves again and am now very careful to lift things out of the cabinets instead of pulling them towards me. You really truly need to apply 3 solid coats of this paint and let it cure for several weeks before you can rely on the finish and I was super disappointed to find it did not hold up to cleaning. The first drip of something that I tried to simply wipe off with a wet sponge smeared the black, revealing the ugly oak beneath. Now, ALL of that being said, I purchased another quart. lol. It really is a beautiful black which is really hard to find and I love the finish. I think you just need to use this paint on the right projects. Every day use like kitchen shelves, maybe not, but display pieces definitely. I will be using it on a bathroom vanity and I will try a layer of polyurethane over the high traffic areas in the kitchen that suffer future scuffing.
