Nice economical way to move to mirrorless if you're a canon user.
If you already shoot with a Canon EOS DSLR, this will be an easy transition for you. With an adapter ($99 separate) you can use all your old EF and EF-S lenses. Picture quality is good. There are some quirks (primarily video) that are well publicized on the photo sites so there's no surprises. It's amazing what 15 years has done in technology wise compared to my older Canon DSLR. The 24-105 lens in this kit is one of the nicer kit lenses. Not an expensive hunk of glass, but more than adequate.

Fantastic!
I would consider myself an amateur photographer working towards advanced but I’m very picky about quality and this is a great camera. It doesn’t require much editing at all to get great quality pictures that are sharp. I had the rebel t6 and the 80d and the build quality feels as sturdy as the 80d. With the L lens (24-105mm USM) it adds a good amount of weight but to really experience what this camera can do, it’s important to match it with good glass. I was going to get the R but I wanted to get into the world of mirrorless full frame without breaking the bank and still getting a lens that I can use on my next purchase. I’ll probably eventually upgrade in the next few years or maybe sooner but the RP is doing everything that I hoped it would! Definitely grab yourself another battery for all day photography and if you’re going to do a lot of video you might even need three batteries.

I upgraded from a Canon 80d. Wanted to try a full frame camera. Coming from a canon background the learning curve has not been too bad. I enjoy using the camera. As a stills camera it is wonderful. Better low light capability and higher iso is very nice. I don't care that much about video but for the casual family events I have shot it has been fine. I am waiting for the additional native r glass that is coming this year. With the adapter canon ef and ef-s glass works fine but I have found that third party lens are hit and miss. I have tried my Tampon 16-300 with poor results. Auto focus is poor. Chromatic aberration is unacceptable and it is totally unpredictable when a photo will work and when it will not. I still have my 80d but am having a hard time finding a reason to still use it. I think my daughter will like it.

Excellent low light for the money.
Great smaller Full Frame Canon Camera. Only cons are the lenses are expensive and large. They need some smaller pancake primes and to add uncropped 4k video recording.

Wow, what a camera! - but there are downsides
I traded in my aging Canon D50 SLR, and made the jump to mirrorless with this EOS RP after reading Ken Rockwell's review on it. I wanted ultra low light capability, shallow depth of field for separating backgrounds, and live view that showed me my exposure in real time. What I got exceeded my expectations in every way. The shutter is much more quiet, the image quality is astounding, and the autofocus - THE AUTOFOCUS! In the past, I've had bad luck with front-focusing and back-focusing lenses, especially my 50mm 1.8. The mirrorless camera design is immune to focus tuning calibration issues, so every focus is spot on, even with an ultra-shallow DOF. Took it out on a millpond for some fall pics, and it did everything I needed, and did it well. A camera is only as good as the photographer, but it helps if the camera doesn't get in the way. I usually bracket my shots with high contrast pictures, but I was able to see in the viewfinder what I'd get when I underexposed slightly to bring out the blue in the sky, and that's exactly what I got. NIce! I coupled this with the 24 - 105 F4 lens, because I wanted a decent close-up focus capability, and I wanted the ability to use the full frame shallow depth of field to separate people from backgrounds for portraits. I also tried it on my old cheap 50mm 1.8 lens, and - wow. Just wow. The only con? Short battery life. Buy extras. Mine crapped out after a few hours on the water, but I had a backup so it wasn't a problem. That's about it. This camera has wicked low light capability at high ISO with very little noise. Best camera I've owned by a long shot, and significantly better than my old DSLR. I'm now a fan of mirrorless! *** 2/1/2022 update *** Now that it's winter, I've had some experiences that have changed my opinion on this camera. For one, the battery life was not good when I first got it during the summer: but in cold weather, batteries hold up for less time. This made the poor battery life on this camera downright dismal. The bigger problem is with their new STM lenses. All their mirrorless lenses use the new STM system, which is much more quiet than the old USM technology. However, this technology is "focus by wire," which means there's no mechanical linkage between the focus ring and the motor - it's all digital. You turn the ring, and the motor responds based on the sensors. When the lens focus motor stopped working on a cold outdoor shoot in the wind, there was no manual focus option available to me and the camera became nothing more than a brick as I turned the focus ring with no results. I have sold the camera and lens, and I have a 6D Mark II on its way. No more short battery life. No more loss of manual focus backup in cold weather. Even better, I regain compatibility with my wife's DSLR lenses. It was a fun experiment, and in theory the mirorless camera was better on paper. However, the limitations of this model and STM lens design in the winter were not worth the live preview, quiet shutter operation, and lack of viewfinder blackout. At least not to me.

I am very happy with this camera
When buying a camera, it is important to do your research. For what I was looking for, this camera has been absolutely great at a decent price.

Great camera
I could care less about video quality or what it cant do. This is an awesome upgrade from a t4i, i use it for stills, and i absolutely love it. So worth the upgrade.

Absolutely terrible
The manual clearly states that "processing RAW images from this camera is not possible". I wish I had known this, I would not have bought this camera. While the camera does allow you to shoot in RAW, you cannot download or open the files on your computer. You have to go to the Canon website and download software. The instructions to do so are confusing, and the instructions on how to actually use the software are even more confusing. Unless you plan on only shooting in JPEG, do not buy this camera. The autofocus and shutter (there is a lag or delay when you press the shutter) are so slow on this camera, don't even think about trying to capture moving subjects. I tried to shoot my dog jumping in broad daylight, and it was impossible. Nothing but complete blur. Also, because it is completely digital, the viewfinder and image display shut off after you take a shot, as it is processing. The viewfinder itself is also digital as well...which totally negates the purpose of having a viewfinder... This camera is also completely useless in low light. Don't even think about increasing the ISO to 10,000. Also, the max shutter speed is only 1/4000.
