I can't see anything with the red light, but my running friends can see the light on me. The white light is cool blue with a focused beam. Two red lights, one on each side provide good reading light at night. The red lights are not bright enough to use on a trail in my opinion. I realize this is a cheap Chinese product but for the money (~$16usd for two headlamps) it's a great deal. Bought these for my kids during Christmas and they seem to like them. As far as the build quality it seems cheap but functions fine. I would not rely on these for backcountry camping, but around the house and backyard it's great. Afterthought, I wanted to mention too that there are two separate buttons, one for red and on for white. In the picture with the light on the left is a 500lm Olight SR10 baton, on right is this head lamp on hi power. This works perfect when doing electrical work with the power off. It is very bright and I like the headband style. Before purchasing this one, I was using one that was not very bright and it had the center strap that goes over the top of your head. It is much more comfortable not having the center strap.
