how strong is magnifying glass?

It's decent. We use it in our home for painting miniature figures. We have one to two lights directed at the figure and that, combined with the magnifying glass makes a good set up for painting. I would say that this glass is not as strong as the magnifying glasses my grandparents used to read with, but for our purposes of painting this works well.

What is the smallest part that will fit between the clips?

The clips can articulate to the point of touching their tips. I use it for splicing fine electrical wires and components. It’s very handy.

Why is there a cancer warning?? Am I in danger if i use this?

There’s warning labels about cancer on everything. You won’t be in any more danger of cancer using this than you are breathing air every day.
