Laverne & Shirley: The Complete Series - Eight Seasons of Zany Antics! America's favorite bottle-cappers - Laverne & Shirley - provide eight full seasons of unrestrained pandemonium in this hilarious DVD collection. Starting as a spin-off from TV's Happy Days, Laverne de Fazio (Penny Marshall) and Shirley Feeney (Cindy Williams), now joined by Lenny (Michael McKean), Squiggy (David L. Lander), Carmine (Eddie Mekka) and the rest of the Milwaukee gang, soon became a smash hit sitcom with audiences nationwide, in one of television's all-time greatest comedies. Laverne & Shirley is a sitcom that played for eight seasons on ABC from January 27, 1976, to May 10, 1983. A spin-off of Happy Days, Laverne & Shirley followed the lives of Laverne DeFazio (Penny Marshall) and Shirley Feeney (Cindy Williams), two friends and roommates who work as bottle-cappers in the fictitious Shotz Brewery in late 1950s Milwaukee, Wisconsin. From the sixth season onwards, the series' setting changed to mid-1960s Burbank, California. Michael McKean and David Lander co-starred as their friends and neighbors Lenny Kosnowski and Andrew "Squiggy" Squiggman, along with Eddie Mekka as Carmine Ragusa, Phil Foster as Laverne's father Frank DeFazio, and Betty Garrett as the girls' landlady Edna Babish. Great except for the final season
This is a really good set. I wasn't a big L&S fan back when it was on but I did like the show. I bought this on a lark and I really like the show. The final season stinks though and that makes it more evident that Cindy Williams was the glue that held the duo and show together. She is funny and oftentimes delivers her straight lines with the sort of sarcasm that made the show good. She left for the final season and the show just wasn't the same. Also, Michael McKean who played Lenny was critical to the success of the show and he was missing a lot during the final season. David Lander (Squiggy) is funny but he missed having McKean as the almost as dumb sidekick. All in all, with the except of the final season, the show is really funny and worth the money.

Some great comedy, fun memories, short enough to binge!
This Happy Days spin off in many ways I found more enjoyable than Mork and Mindy. The girls were funny (very Lucy and Ethel) at times, and early episodes were memorable and laugh out loud funny. Often thanks to their surrounding cast - especially Lenny and Squiggy. Lotsa funny toss away lines, some impressive physical humor, and the occasional touching moment. I looked forward to watching them make their dreams come true. Mind you, this show "suffered" a bit from the Garry Marshall technique, mainly the high school play format of often unrealistic sprawling and similar sets (what could even have been ON that 4th wall?) Everyone's very loud talking - even when whispering, bad dubbing/voice over to bridge scenes, exiting scenes with leaving lights on doors unlocked or just wide open, etc. Petty, I know, but when you think these are supposed to be 2 struggling girls working at a brewery, and SO fixable, it just seems lazy and distracting. Also, as the series went on, entered seasons 6-8, it kinda fell apart a bit and lost its spark. Once Shirley was gone, it was a shell of what made it fun. But you could say the same for I Love Lucy once it went on and Ethal was sporadic. But, as a collection, and the Lenny & the Squigtone music alone, well worth the watch!

More than worth $36
The dialogue in the episodes between Laverne and Shirley is amazing and extremely well written. And there is a lot of acrobatics performed on the couch by the two actresses who seem to have done all of their own stunts, some of which can be dangerous. The timing between the two actresses is simply amazing. A first class series that has withstood the test of time. Even Paramount made it so that one didn’t have to write down where one stops on a given disc, unlike the Paramount Blu-rays and 4K discs. And the DVD transfers are first class, easily rivaling some Blu-rays.

Laverne and Shirley is a Happy Days spinoff, but one as successful as its original show. I love 1970s TV shows and this one's no exception! The humour is great (without being crude, like many modern sitcoms), the actors play their roles to the tee and the storylines are light and fun! Laverne and Shirley is like comfort TV : you know you're going to laugh, there's a coziness to it and it's "intelligent" humour, so you won't cringe at inapropriate jokes. I recommend it to everyone!

How wonderful to watch these old sitcoms. I feel this series has amazing talent. They are extremely great actors, singers and dancers. Lots of different story lines and keeps one interested through the whole series.

I remember watching this series when I was a teenager, I thought it was great then so it's nice to be able to see it again. Of course the show was a spin off of the very popular comedy series 'Happy days', which had the great character the 'Fonz'. Both series ran for a very considerable time, & I must admit I had a teenage crush on Shirley played by the lovely Cindy Williams. It is sad that Penny Marshall who played Laverne is no longer with us, she died last year & will be greatly missed. At least she left us a great comedy show in 'Laverne & Shirley'.
