We now have all the graphic novel versions for our kids, including our nine year old boy who likes them and our seven year old girl. I don't suggest getting only graphic novels for kids - I think there is something to reading a book with sentences arranged in a traditional way - but nonetheless the Baby-Sitters Club graphic novels are well done and have helped to foster a love of reading and books in our home. It has actually resulted in the kids reading the older versions that I have from when I was little. The kids liked that Dawn eats tofu since they also like tofu and they liked to tell their own babysitter about the adventures they read about with Dawn. This one was not illustrated by Raina Telgemeier who illustrated some of the previous ones. The kids like her a lot and have some of her other books and could tell a slight difference with the style of this book, but overall it wasn't a big deal to them.
