I use this to cut open boxes and cut through plastic and tape, works great. It was a bit hard to protract and retract the knife, and I had to use both hands to move the lever when I first got it. Thankfully, after just a few hours I found it much easier to open and close the knife, being able to do it with just one hand and not much effort at all. I'm not sure if it's a muscle memory thing or having to "wear down" the knife in a sense. It's very nice to hold in my hand and it also looks quite nice.

Very stable and ergonomically correct.

The main point: the included blade is extremely sharp -- as in sharper than my kitchen knife. I can cut a sheet of paper in midair, cut styrofoam with no resistance at all, or the things it's meant to cut like product packaging and cardboard with ease. Some things to note though that prevent me from giving it a perfect 5 stars: - The knife does not already come ready to go, you have to open it up, remove the blade from the clip, and place the blade in the holder correctly - It's not designed to be used with the blade just a little open, unlike a lot of box cutters. If you have it semi-protracted, the blade can be pushed back in physically. It only locks when fully open. - The sliding mechanism is a little harder to use than traditional sliding mechanisms. I don't really see any benefits from this new mechanism.

I was looking forward to getting this Fiskars retractable utility knife. As soon as I got it, I removed it from the packaging and found there was no blade already installed in the working end of the knife. So I went to open the handle to install a blade, which requires sliding open a black button on the handle to separate the two halves of the handle. However, it was very difficult to get the button to slide open, taking numerous!! tries to finally get the darn thing open. Inside the handle was a single blade held in a spring clip that holds a back-up blade. I removed the blade and installed it in the slide mechanism at the front of the knife, and then closed the handles together and tried to slide the black button back to lock the handles in the closed position. However, when I pushed the button back to lock it in place, it would not stay in the closed/locked position, repeatedly springing back open -- it was not latching onto the part on which the button was supposed to catch/lock. After 20+ tries pushing the button back while squeezing the handles together as hard as I could, it caught onto the latch part and stay closed. Finally!! A while later I went to open the handle again to install a couple extra blades in the clip for that purpose inside the handle. But now I could not get the button to slide open again, apparently being stuck/jammed shut, and no matter what I tried, I could not get the *%@*$!!! thing open again. A very poor, flawed, and frustrating/infuriating design. The struggle and frustration is not worth it, so I am returning this flawed utility knife and will get a different brand. Needless to say, I don't recommend buying this utility knife.

This is my favorite boxcutter that we own. It's ergonomic and has a non-slip rubber section of the handle. Safety first! Fiskar gets it right here. They have great quality products and terrific customer service. I've been using their products for years. Other boxcutters that we have are just metal and aren't as easy to work with as these. The ergonomics on this box cutter are terrific and the added safety from the sturdy, non-slip handle design is a sure sell for me. I love the orange pop of color as well. Excellent product!

I have been wanting a REALLY GOOD utility knife for years. Saw this on YouTube, and thought I would give it a try. To be honest, it is a tad BIG, and tough to handle in my wife's little hands. But BOY DOES IT CUT WELL!!! I could not believe it the first time I used it. Cuts thick cardboard like a hot knife through warm butter. Precision cuts are also very easy with this knife. Looking at the blades, I could see these were not the usual cheap replacement blades you buy for a few dollars. I was going to order just the additional blades, but I like this knife so much, I bought another and two boxes of blades. We have some Fiskars garden tools and their quality is really good, but this is hands down the BEST UTILITY KNIFE I EVER USED!!!!

I am morning merch at Costco in foods department. This box cutter holds up very well. It is still sharp even if the tip gets broken off, even cutting plastic straps on the pallets is easier without using so much force. I'm still on the first use after 2 weeks without switching the blades. Cutting thick boxes and slip-sheet is so much better without gripping it too tightly. The orange color helps when I set it down, and easy to spot. The grip is nice enough to stay sturdy in your pocket and not worry about it slipping off.

Use to open carton boxes and some cutting of PVC sheet 1mm thickness. Effective.

Product is great however it came in an open box with the blade removed.
