American Originals Mini Cupcake Maker

I purchased the American Originals Mini Cupcake Make for my husband. He loves chocolate and I thought they would be a neater way for him to have his chocolate. It has proven to be correct. The cupcakes are fun to make, although you do have to rebatter every ten minutes or so. I believe it is eight minutes. Then I figured out after frosting a lot of tiny cupcakes that a frosting tip and a bag would be neater and faster. It is. For Father's Day I made the Red Velvet cake with white frosting and the frosting bag and then sprinkles and they were just darling. It makes about 48 cupcakes out of a box mix.

I can only rate this item as four stars because to me nothing we purchase anywhere is ever worthy of five stars. Anyway if you're looking for a quick and easy way of making some great snacks then you're going to enjoy this mini muffin maker. What I really love about it is that there is no real cleanup necessary. Just wait till it cools and wipe it with a paper towel. It heats up quickly and is ready within minutes so I'd advise you to have your mix complete and ready to go in advance. The only real advice I can you, well "warning" perhaps is that when you open the lid which itself is hot there is some pretty intense heat, steam waiting to greet you. I myself use a long handled wooden spoon to push the lid up thereby avoiding contact with the heat. This really wasn't meant as a complaint and by no means should stop you from purchasing this great little muffin maker. Just be careful as you should with all electric appliances and enjoy your mini muffins!

I love this machine so much, I bought 2 so I could make twice as many, twice as fast. Cupcakes come out perfect everytime and I just set the timer and know that they are ready without needing to use a toothpick or fork to check the inside. I have 2 other name brands of this machine but I ended up giving them away since the cupcakes didnt come out as fluffy and nice. Would highly recommend this product!

Don't bother

This is poorly designed, imo. When the maker heats up and you lift the lid you can easily burn yourself since the heat plate is much too close to the handle. When you put your finger on the latch to lift the top a finger can very easily touch the hot plate. I thought this would be fun for our 10 year old grand daughter since she loves to bake and has taken baking classes at King Arthur Flour but I am returning this item, it's just too risky.
