Fun family Game
We love the original Clue game and decided to give this a try. This game has a more modern look, more rooms, and more fun aspects. Our whole family (children ages 6-14) love it!

This is the modern version of a timeless classic
I was looking for the Classic Cluedo (known as Clue in the US) but bought this instead. It's pretty good and a tonne of fun!

Clue
Very nice board game, fun to play! This this certainly better than Discover the secrets for many reasons and it appears Hasbro has moved away from that..my overall rating is 5 stars!

The CLASSIC Mystery Game -- A NEW Step In The Right Direction
This NEW edition is incorrectly titled "The ULTIMATE Mystery Game" by Amazon. Instead it is actually called "The CLASSIC Mystery Game". Amazon's incorrect listing title aside, this appears to be a new edition quietly being substituted for Hasbro's much maligned "Discover The Secrets". Perhaps to avoid admission and the embarrassment that they made a mistake with their shallow, pop-culture reinvention of their classic property that they heavily marketed and promoted just four years ago. Hopefully this is the case, and Discover the Secrets will fade into memory as did "New Coke". In any event, this edition marks a return to many of the TRADITIONAL elements of the warmly regarded family deduction game that has been essentially the same for over 60 years. Foremost among the changes from Discover The Secrets: 1) The elimination of the Clock Cards which could eliminate a player before the game is over. 2) The original six weapons have been restored, eliminating the extra 3, and speeding up gameplay. 3) The player "special powers" have been eliminated 4) The often confusing intrigue "bonus space" cards have been simplified 5) The characters have been divorced from their specific qualities during the game, and their vapid and shallow backstories eliminated. They are however, somewhat younger-looking than any previous standard editions prior depictions. New backstories are included, but are somewhat perplexing and have little to do with the game. Kids may enjoy role-playing them, however, I recommend they mostly be ignored. Still going only by their last names -- "Mustard", "Plum", etc. this is still a step mostly in the right direction. 6) The rooms have mostly been restored to the traditional rooms used in various classic editions. The exception to this is the addition of a bedroom and bathroom for the first time ever. There is also an "upstairs" depicted for the first time. 7) Additional rules have been provided for a two-player game, also a first for Clue. This makes the game far more useful for more frequent gameplay. 8) And probably most importantly, the entire approach to the game, previously focused on vanity, gossip, rumors, and tabloid sensationalism has been removed. Female characters are now more than just actresses, and social butterflies -- they are lawyers and politicians -- and the men are not just celebrities and connected hipsters. The heavy emphasis on money is toned down as well. While I realize this is kind of trivial given the subject matter of the game (a grizzly murder has been been committed), it eliminates many of the shallow pop-culture influences which took this game out of the traditional farcical, and historically stereotypical realm, planting it firmly in present day reality and potentially reinforcing these current negative social values for younger players. All things considered, this is an edition of Clue that the grandparents will recognize, and likely appreciate, as well as appealing for the kids. It is modern without pandering, offering just enough change to make it fresh. It also marks a return to the lavish detailed artwork that once adorned and became a hallmark of Clue games, making the game seem a bit more substantial than it actually is, as well as offering visual stimulation that is sure to delight with new discoveries for many sittings. As for the overall quality of this edition, the box and storage are high quality, offering a superior way to organize the contents over its immediate predecessor. The general build quality of most components is adequate, and the colored, people-shaped tokens are appreciated and much more identifiable over the relatively cheap versions in the previous edition. My chief complaint is directed at the playing cards. Unfortunately they are very thin, with the feel of something that you could print at home on your inkjet printer. These will quickly develop folds and tears after only a few games, and generally wear poorly. Further, they are printed with black backgrounds making scratches and creases easy to spot, not only making them look bad, but potentially making specific cards easily identifiable to other players. The game also includes two "Discards" for some unknown purpose as they are marked on both sides, making them unsuitable for replacements should another card be damaged (a high probability), or lost. Fortunately, Hasbro makes replacement parts available on their website, though the card quality should be MUCH higher in general. Since the playing cards are integral to the game, I knocked off one star for this alone. FOR THE PARENTS: Please NOTE: The advertised age is 8 and up. The suspects depicted in the game are all extremely youthful in appearance, anywhere between late teens to early 20s. However, the game board artwork somewhat incongruously depicts dozens of half-empty and empty wine glasses and bottles throughout the house. This is not readily apparent from any of the promotional images available online. Online Rule Booklet from Hasbro: [...]

Big Clue Fan!
I got this when it was like $7 something. I try and buy the new version of Clue whenever there is a new one out. I gotta say this is just like the original. It just takes place in modern times, the weapons are the same. The rooms are slightly different with some added but the rules are the same old classic! Must buy!
