Good Tape, and Latex free
I needed some tape that would work as masking tape and eventually for painting. And, I needed it to be latex free because I recently developed an allergy and other masking tapes made me have a reaction. This tape works really well, has just the right amount of adhesive, and doesn't give me a reaction. It's also easy to tear, easy to use, and is a good value for the money.

Great for painting, and other uses
While the tape is great for painting, as it can be quickly and easily removed without leaving a residue, it also has other uses. I mainly use it to label plastic containers, jars, spray bottles, paint containers, etc. I use a Sharpie to write on the tape. Since the tape is light blue in color, it's easy to see the writing. I've purchased other brands of painter's tape, but most have a darker blue color, which makes it hard to see the writing. I've had labels stay on containers for several years with the Scotch brand tape. And removing the tape left no residue, even after several years. I used masking tape to label things before, but they would either be too difficult to remove and leave residue, or would come off over time and leave residue. I've also tried Avery labels, but they would fall off over time when labeling plastic containers. I've used the Scotch tape for hanging my HDTV antenna on the wall, as well. It's held up for two years so far.

The Undisputed Champion of Painter's Tape
Let’s be real: painter’s tape is the unsung hero of DIY projects, and ScotchBlue Original Multi-Surface Painter's Tape deserves a standing ovation. It's like having a reliable friend who shows up, does their job perfectly, and then leaves without a fuss. And it does it in style—that bright blue is practically saying, "I've got this." First off, this tape sticks like it means it. I’ve used it for everything from walls to baseboards to furniture, and it holds on like it's auditioning for a tape Olympics. But the best part? It comes off clean. No sticky residue, no peeling off half your paint job. It's basically the superhero of painter’s tape, swooping in to save the day and then exiting gracefully. I used it indoors, outdoors, on walls, trim, and even a weird project where I tried to paint designs on a mason jar (don’t ask, Pinterest made me do it). Every time, this tape kept the paint exactly where it was supposed to be—like an invisible forcefield against my clumsy brush strokes. And the clean lines? Chef’s kiss. It’s so satisfying when you pull the tape off and reveal those crisp, professional edges. You almost want to take a victory lap around your house for nailing that DIY look. I’m not saying I did, but I definitely thought about it. Pro tip: make sure you press down the edges of the tape really well. It’s like making sure your seatbelt’s clicked before a rollercoaster—you don’t want any paint sneaking through! But once it’s on, you’re golden. Bottom line: whether you’re giving your living room a facelift or just trying not to paint your doorframe accidentally, ScotchBlue is your go-to. It’s strong, reliable, and leaves no mess—basically the perfect partner in crime for any painting project. And when you’re done, it peels off smoother than a well-delivered punchline. What more could you ask for from tape?

Strong Tape, Good to Have Around
I just bought a new house and have been tackling a bunch of painting projects to get it looking just right. I picked up this ScotchBlue Original Multi-Surface Painter’s Tape (the 1-inch wide roll), and overall, it’s been a really solid product for what I needed. The tape sticks well to a variety of surfaces around the house — I used it on walls, trim, and even some outdoor areas like window frames. It’s got enough stickiness to hold down firmly and create clean, sharp lines without letting paint bleed through, which was super important for my projects where I wanted neat edges. One of the things I liked best is how easily it peels off after the paint dries. I didn’t have to worry about it pulling off paint or leaving any sticky residue behind, even when it was left on for several days. That really helped when I had multiple coats or needed to wait between steps. That said, I did notice a little bit of paint bleed on some textured walls, but it was minor and didn’t ruin anything. Also, on rough or uneven surfaces, the tape didn’t stick quite as well and sometimes lifted up a bit at the edges. For the smooth surfaces I mainly worked on, though, it was perfect. All in all, this ScotchBlue tape is a dependable, no-frills painter’s tape that gets the job done well. I’m giving it 4 stars because it’s not perfect on every surface, but for most indoor and outdoor painting around the house, it works great. If you’re doing home painting projects and want a tape that’s easy to use and removes cleanly, this one’s definitely worth grabbing.

Super clean paint line if the edge is really pressed.
Blue tape. I use it often. Mcguyver with it. I try to always fold one end 1/4” so it’s much easier to pull. It freezes. It sticks to Ziploc‘s in the freezer. Perfect to label. It sticks to carpet if you’re doing cutting details. Used correctly it will leave a really clean line. Correctly meaning pressed into place. Works on a bumpy surface as long as you really press the edge. If you order the 1/4” wide blue tape. A radius is no problem. My time is worth more than these rolls cost. I do not use sparingly.
