Accurate and adorable
Exactly what I wanted. Simple. Colorful. Cute. Accurate. Fairly easy to set up. When setting up you can not just fill it up in a super fast manner. It has a Doppler squeeze type fill up applicator so when filling up the blue liquid (which you can make your own color btw, or colorless if wanted I guess), but you need to have your own food coloring as it does not come with any. But anyways, you need to fill the water kinda slowly so it doesn't shoot up though the small tube on the right. But other than that it was way easier than I thought it was going to be. The only downfall is that the globe (blue part) on the right can get dirty/dusty inside depending on where you have it / how clean the area and air is in that location. For example, I put mines around my plants near the window and all the dirt and what not from the plants made it look kinda dusty looking when viewing from far away or on an angle. But in normal rooms, normal homes, this shouldn't happen. The temperature tube on the right is extremely accurate. Obviously it doesn't change much given that our indoor temp is always the same. So I put it outside to test it out and within 5mins it changed to the current outside temperature. The other part (sorry I can't remember the technical correct terms) but the blue globe part seems accurate for the most part but I'll have to look back in the instructions bc we are suppose to have a storm, and I thought that meant the blue dye was suppose to be higher up. But maybe it's just about the pressure in the air(??) And not storms(?) I'm not sure. I'm probably wrong per usual. But this is the perfect gift. Very cute. And it works! And u can customize the color. Just remember to already have the food coloring dye or purchase it as well 😊

This is my second one
I had one of these for years but the globe broke when my cat knocked it over, so I had to get a new one. It seems to be a pretty good predictor of when it's about to rain or get stormy. My husband I get a kick out of looking at it to see how it changes. We had a pretty severe storm not too long ago and the water was almost coming out of the top! The thermometer works just fine, we don't really need it to tell us what the temp is, lol, but they make a nice set and is attractive sitting on our mantle.

Good Product
Accurate to description. Do be aware though that both pieces are not glued or attached in any way to the stand. Also the tube they give you to fill the globe is curled up and slightly hard to get all the way through to fill it. Other then that stuff, this is a great product, size, dimensions and colors are Accurate. Works how it's intended and gives a nice decor to a room.

Looks great on the shelf
Looks great on the shelf and that's all I wanted it for. I don't care or expect it to be accurate (as it's not) and the day I'm using this to predict the weather is the day civilization has officially ended. Thermometer portion was pre filed as it is a solid sealed piece of glass. In a 69deg room the 80 deg bulb is up. But again I don't care about accuracy as this is just a decoration. The Barometer is the only thing you will need to fill yourself with your choice of colored water. Process is very simple and they include the necessary syringe. You will need about 1/2 a cup of colored water to fill it and it may be helpful to have a second pair of hands since you will need to re-fill the syringe a few times while holding it upside down. I was able to do mine solo but if you have unsteady hands, bad arthritis, or are getting this as gift for a child assistance may be required. The Barometer does not have a scale or anything that will give you the actual air pressure. Its really more of a "extreme pressure difference indicator" that will let you know when major differences in pressure occur like what you keep with major storm fronts. A good visual indicator of air pressure for kids. Two concerns I have is: - the sentence in the include manual. "On cases of severe weather or major storms the water may even run out of the spout" So I hope that doesn't mean the next time a storm rolls in that I'll have red colored water all over the place. - The thermometer sits in a a very shallow milled portion of the wooden base. Nothing but the weight of the glass keeps it planted there. The problem is that it would be very easy to knock it over and break it since the thermometer is pretty top heavy. So if you plan on putting it someplace where a kid can reach it or you could brush up against it you may end up tipping it over and breaking it. But I give it 5 stars as it looks good and should last a lifetime if I don't end up breaking it myself. And if civilization as we know it does come to an end and all technology fails us, then I'll be the one smart looking guy telling everyone the wrong temperature and that a storm is coming.

Just mesmerizing!
I am just fascinated with this Galileo thermometer. It catches your eye with the various colors floating within. I first saw one at my dentist’s office and asked the receptionist where she got it. She told me Amazon. When I got home, I ordered it right away. I truly am delighted with this purchase.

Fun Weather Learning
Quality product, good price. If you like scientific knick-knacks like I do, then this is a “I gotta have it” item. My grandson checks it whenever he visits to see if it looks like we’re going to get some rain. Fun way to teach how weather works and it looks cool too. You’ll need some food dye to color the barometer water.

Did Galileo Really Own This?
I think I may have got ripped off with this. It says it's a Galileo thermometer & barometer, but I don't think it belonged to Galileo at all. Galileo died in 1642 so if this did belong to Galileo it would mean that it was at least 374 years old, and the one I got looked brand new. On the other hand Galileo did spend the last 8 years of his life under house arrest, for offending Keith Urban - or was it Pope Urban? I always get those two confused. - so I suppose, with there being limited internet back in those days, he may have spent quite a bit of time dusting and polishing, which would account for the fine condition of this glass thingy. But I'm pretty sure that Amazon didn't exist in the 17th century, so how could Galileo have purchased this to begin with? Anyway, whether Galileo actually owned this or not, it's a pretty stunning looking item that could proudly be the centerpiece of any thermometer or barometer collection. People will be flabbergasted when they see it. In fact never will their flabber have been so gasted. Their eyes will open wide and they'll say such words such as “ooh”, “ah” and wow. It really does look that good. One word of warning: although this is a thermometer, don't - DO NOT - try to take anyone's temperature with it. It's way too big to go under the tongue and for God's sake don't stick it anywhere else. I lost a good girlfriend that way. Despite all that, if you use this product in a responsible and non-life threatening manner it works extremely well.

4 degree increments; overflow expanded wood & cracked glass
I was excited about this piece when I ordered it for my office, however, although it looks nice, it is not as big as I expected. The temperature is showing 4 degree Fahrenheit increments (64,68,72,76,80) which is not as precise as I'd like. The main problem however surfaced two weeks after receiving this. Weather glass initially couldn't fit in its hole in the wooden stand, but since the misfit was minimal, I mistakenly decided to sand the hole and make it fit instead of returning the whole set and waiting for the replacement. Since there was no wood polish left, this later resulted in a cracked glass - over the weekend when it got sunny in the office, some water overflew and wet the stand, the wood contracted and cracked the base of the bottle, and all water leaked to the desk. So if you receive this and it doesn't fit, you better quit (return it). Otherwise, I really like the thermometer because it confirms my belief in analog scales - one glimpse and you know where you're at, and here's the analogy with my moods: - red, blue and orange up: it's too cool for most people, but kewl for me - both blue and red up: good work environment for me, - only red up: I'm hot, - red down: I'm miserable and ready to leave the office because I can't work in such heat. Summary: Nice looking toy for grownups.

Nice little thermometer!
It's not very large, but it's perfect for a desk or a mantle. My dad loves it and stares at it all the time. It's easy to read and quite mesmorizing to watching when it's changing.

Looks nice
Lovely item and we'll packed. Good instructions but would love to know exactly how much liquid to put in. Other reviews mentioned food colouring, so we got some in advance.
