The included plastic strainer looked a bit restrictive and cheap and was made with a barb fitting rather than threaded, I had bought a metal one, so did not use the included plastic one. Motor is awesome, but the northstar pump degrades this package. The pump burns up seal after seal for no reason, (yes it was primed properly and never ran dry) Please be warned this pump is junk, and the northstar rep. I spoke with thinks he is a pump God but truthfully I don’t think he has a clue what he’s talking about and he was very argumentative on the phone basically told me I was out of luck on a pump that was less then 2months old that only pumped water one time. Thank goodness for the awesome people at the store I bought it from who were very understanding as they have received multiple pumps back in for similar problems. Exchanged it for more reliable pacer pump with the same Honda gx engine on it.
