Easy to set up and operate
Works with my 16ft Coleman power steel no adapters needed. However the outflow price is to big but oh well. Runs great and very quiet super easy to set up.

Excellent pump at a reasonable price. So far given us years of great swimming!
This pump has been incredible. We purchased it as an upgrade, and it's oversized for our pool. However, that has kept our water crystal clear. We do run the pump 24/7, and haven't noticed a huge change in the utility bill. It's very easy to backwash and rinse. Just make sure you follow the instructions. We haven't had to replace the sand yet. We've used this pump all summer long from 2022 to beginning of 2026 summer (the time I'm writing this). We might replace the sand this year. I can't testify to the ease of changing it out, but filling it was a breeze. The only real issue we've had is sun damage on the control board. Even though there is a little protective cover, it still has become faded and cracked over time, and now we have issues with the on/off button not working consistently. However, there is a simple workaround. I won't go into details, but it involves removing the casing of the pump and moving a plug from one set of pins to another. That puts the pump in always on mode, meaning whenever it has power, it will be running. Since we use ours 24/7 when it's plugged in, we intend to use this method to override the control/timer and simply use the GFCI test and reset buttons on the plug to turn the pump off and on when we need to backwash, rinse, etc. Overall, highly recommend. This pump has helped make our first pool owing experience a wonderful one. If you're new to above-ground pool owning, do these things (at the very least): - Prep your ground well. Spend the money if you need to, because it makes life so much easier. We actually poured a level concrete pad. - Oversize your pump, and upgrade to sand filtration instead of the cartridge filters these types of pools come with. Don't even think about it. Just do it. If you don't, you will hate owning a pool. - Upgrade to larger hoses (from 1.25 to 1.5), along with a better return jet. I also very much recommend installing a skimmer. Hayward makes great ones, and they are easy to install (and I believe even come with an improved return jet). It can be intimidating to cut into the liner of your brand new pool.. but trust me... it's WORTH THE UPGRADES.

Must Have
I don’t usually write reviews but felt this warranted one. If you have an above ground pool you need this. This is our third summer with our pool and our first summer with this filter. It was so hard to maintain the pool in the past with the A/C filters that you remove and rinse. It would take a week(s) to make a green pool clean and clear. This sand filter works so well and not only does the water flow faster it is also a more powerful stream. The filter doesn’t take up much space and is very easy to use. We hadn’t swam in the pool all week and I forgot to add a new chlorine tab so it was starting to turn green. I put in chlorine, algaecide and clarifier and the filter had it clear in less than two days. Very impressed with the quality and price. It didn’t cost much more than it would have cost to replace the old tiny filter that came with the pool. I have faith it will last for many years!

BE READY TO CLEAN SAND
To start off with, I live in Alaska and this year we have had a lot of rain. But then for a month or two, we had really nice, hot weather. (Perfect conditions for algae to grow!). Our paper cartridge filters were overwhelmed, so we got this pump to replace our above ground paper cartridge filters that could not keep up with the gunk. We followed the instructions for set up, and any time the pressure started to get close to the yellow, we back washed it. After awhile I noticed the pool was just not getting clean and gunk was accumulating on the bottom, the water was cloudy, it was just gross. Kids didn’t care though! It was to the point where even when I backwashed and rinsed to level the sand out, it was still throwing reddish or green water into the pool. We have only used this pump for about about 2-3 months. I finally took the pump apart and put the input hose i to the skimmer basket from the old cartridge pump and took the sand pump apart. The amount of algae growing in it was phenomenal. I thoroughly cleaned all the sand, took the solid chunks of algae out, rinsed the sand again, and then reassembled. I disconnected the output hose that goes to the pool from the filter and drained the gross water from it. Once everything was cleaned out and put back together, I turned the pump on. Clean clear water poured quite forcefully into the pool. I did not realize how weak the return water pressure had got. I figured out how to set the timer for how ling the pump runs for, and put that on 5 hours. A couple of days later and the pool was looking much better. I vacuumed it to help the filter, but it still needed more help. I put flocculant in and over night the pool was crystal clear. Vacuumed it again and it continues to run smoothly and is keeping up with the gunk. I also got a cover for the pool which is helping. The pump runs with the cover on and has no issues.

Is not powerful enough for 3,700 gallons of water
Based on many reviews, I purchased the Intex SX1500 sand filter pump to ultimately spend less on chemicals. According to the Seller's description, this pump is for pools up to over 8,000 gallons. I have the Intex EasySet 15' x 48" pool, which holds just over 3,700 gallons of water. The pump that came with my pool was the regular cartridge pump that filtered 1000 gph, not enough power to circulate the pool and kept getting algae overgrowth. The realistic thing to do was get a more powerful pump. THIS PUMP IS NOT IT. I backwash, rinse and clean the hoses, filter and debris daily if needed (backwash daily). There is no user error. I don't know if the Seller is getting returned items from Amazon or pallet items and is selling them on Amazon, but this pump is very inefficient and doesn't have enough power to use a simple pool vacuum and definitely not to control the algae that keeps trying to grow in my pool. I am very disappointed in Intex, the quality has definitely gone down since I first became an Intex EasySet pool owner 15 years ago. Just to make note that I have all the right chemicals and supplies, use them appropriately when needed. My pool is in full sun for about 8 hours in the summer, then part to full shade as the sun goes down. P.S. Don't buy this at the end of season or continue to use what you had when or if you buy this pump. Seller's return is 30 days and all Intex will do is replace the pump just in case it's a faulty pump within the 2 year warranty. We just opened the box, assembled and connected this pump 3 weeks ago. I am waiting for a replacement, but honestly I don't have confidence in this pump.

Perfect upgrade pump
Easy set up, great filtering for my 2000 gallon pool. No leaks and I love the automatic timer function. A little pricey but no water quality issues.

Better (and easier) than expected.
My new sand pump is working great. With a couple of hose clamps it adapted well to my Summer Escapes 12 foot pool. Instead of an adapter for my skimmer, I removed the impeller from the old pump and cut out the extra plastic from its mounting. I then used a unibit to gain as much of an opening as I could without weakening the fitting. I was not able to use the supplied aerator due to the location of my return being too close to the waterline but this is not the fault of the product. I retained my skimmer filter and installed a reusable foam filter to keep leaves from reaching the filter at the pump. This has the nice side effect since the new pump creates quite a vortex and introduces air causing the pump to lose prime if not in place. Again this is not a problem with the product, just a consequence of my particular setup. Being able to use my skimmer also allowed me to retain use of my vacuum. Man does that thing suck! I can now vacuum the bottom in half the time as before. If this pump lasts, it may be the best choice I've made since setting up my pool. If not, I will let you know. By the way the packaging was great and everything I needed except sand (picked up at my local orange box store for less than $10) was included. Don't forget to backwash the sand before filtering. I used a large clear jar to sample the initial backwash until it was clear with no sediment after a couple minutes. Its been running for a week with no issues.

Powerful Circulation, Crystal Clear Results
This filter pump transformed my above-ground pool. Easy to install with clear instructions, and it started clearing up my cloudy pool within hours. The 6-way valve makes backwashing and rinsing effortless. I also appreciate how quiet it runs compared to cartridge filters. After a full week of use, the water clarity was excellent. Maintenance is straightforward and long-term operating costs will be lower thanks to not needing constant cartridge changes.

Good pump
Purchased this at the beginning of summer. Pump has been running well, with lots of pressure. Easy to use with a good variety of features. I believe the sand filter works much better than a traditional pleated filter, but you need to backwash more frequently. Timer function is a plus. Nice long power cord with a reset button built into the plug.
