900mA MPPT Solar Panel Controller - Solar Power Manager Module for 5V Solar Panel - Support Solar and USB Charging

I'm using this to power a MeshCore repeater. On the MPPT side of things, I checked it after a day of operation and it seems to keep the 18650 batteries (wired in parallel) close to 4.2v using a small 5w pannel. On the output power side of things, the regulated 5v measures at 5.11v (on both output USB and pins) and didn't dip while under test, so it seems to keep up with power demand just fine. I was not able to detect any noise on the 5v output using my Xminilab oscilloscope, but I put a 1000uF capacitor on it anyway to reduce the possibility of signal interference. When I first plugged in the battery, I noticed that it powered on by itself (desirable for this use case). When I later unplugged the battery and plugged it back in, I had to press the "boot" button get the output going again. I hope this is not a button I have to press in the scenario where the batteries fully discharge and charge up again. Time will tell.

Worked well for what I needed. I used this for a solar project for my son. It has all the connections that you would need and is very well made. Good price for a good item.

Good product, works as advertised. Fully charges the battery from solar, and the reverse indicators are nice to have, just in case. Only con is that if the battery fully dies, the circuit won't restart outputting power to the load. It will recharge the battery, but I have to disconnect and reconnect the load in order to get power to flow again, which is obviously not ideal for applications where the circuit is less accessible. Paired with a large enough battery though, this shouldn't be a concern.

Purchased this on June 5th, 2025 for a solar powered weather station. Little over 3 months later, this is dead. Will not operate even if I plug in 5c USB cable into it. I could understand if this was 2-3 old but 3 months? Update: I am changing my rating as I was sent a replacement. Good customer service.

Needed two different voltage outputs. This thing filled the bill. Using it for a Mota solar note that needs both 3.7 V and 5 V. I think this will do. The trick price is right, showed up fast and would buy again. Compatible with a solar panel.

I use these to power solar Meshtastic LoRA Nodes. I have a 5v6w solar panel and 3 21700(4500mAh) cells in parallel. Output to the Meshtastic node. It has been up on my tower for 3 weeks and it has kept the batteries fully charged even during sub freezing Temps and multiple days of cloudy conditions. Very happy with the DFRobot controller. I have bought 6 of these now and would buy more.👍

Be aware: this company uses a crowd-sourced forum documentation model and does not provide any actual instructions or information beyond the datasheets. I am having to use trial-and-error to get the device to work, which thankfully has not destroyed any of my electronics nor burned any li-ion cells yet. It appears to be a good device but I have yet to determine if it will work for my use-case. I will source my solar controllers elsewhere after using this one, successful or not.

This was exactly what I was looking for but didn’t want to wait for shipping from AliExpress for a fraction of the price.
