Excellent Must-Have Product for My Hair Type
I purchased this product to replace a Conair Hot Curling unit that was probably 10 years old. Let me be clear that the reason that the old product lasted so long was that I rarely used it until about a year or two ago-mainly because I wasn't using it properly and my hair was longer and styled differently. My hair is now just shoulder length, in lots of layers. My hair is very fine and if left to air dry will have some natural waves to it. It is color treated and very "fly away". I use this product as follows: After towel drying hair, I always use a leave-in product (I have used very expensive variations and I am happy to report that my favorite it currently a bargain, Loreal EverPure Smooth Frizz-Free Serum). Then I dry my hair on the lowest heat setting (yes, it takes a little longer but it makes a big difference) with my regular hair dryer and a round boar bristle brush. Important: do not dry completely-ends should be dry but hair should still feel very slightly damp near your scalp. I really do not style my hair at all at this stage with the brush it's just that the boar bristles will mimimize breakage while creating lift when brushing the roots up and away from the scalp. Now I am ready for the Conair 1.5. I like the barrel with the shorter bristles, it seems to work better with fine hair. THIS product will NOT make your hair curly NOR do you want to try and dry your hair with it. This product will give you volume and smoothness with ends curled under or up. I use only the high heat setting because it is not very hot. Again, my hair is just shoulder length, so I just brush a section of hair from the roots to the ends and roll it half to two thirds the way up, hold it for ten seconds and unroll. I don't "pull the brush" through. If you want a very smooth look, after finishing each section, lightly brush and use a light hair spray. If you want a more "unkempt" effect, after styling each section, allow hair to cool and style with your fingers, then spray. If you want curlier hair, keep your hair dryer handy. After the "10 second curl" turn the Conair off while your hair is still "rolled up" and blow cool air directly onto the barrel from your dryer for a few seconds until hair is cooled then unroll. I also purchased the Conair BC171CS Ceramic Ionic Hot Air Brush 1.25 Conair BC171CS Ceramic Ionic Hot Air Brush, Black, 1.25 Inch inch at the same time I purchased this one. As I mentioned, my product that died was very old and I wasn't sure which one would work best for me so I just went for both of them. I do not like 1.25 inch for myself nearly as much because: It seems to get too hot, even on the lower setting. My hair is color treated and too fine for this much heat. If you try it, you may want your hair more damp. I also do not like the size of the barrel. I have small hands and it is very unwieldy. It will "curl" your hair to a greater degree and may work well for certain hair types. I did not send it back but would recommend with caution. When making this purchase on Amazon, I noted that one reviewer raved about the difference in the "ionic" feature. I noticed zero differnce, perhaps because the higher heat of this unit cancelled out any "ionic" benefit for my hair type. If I had it to do over, I would have ordered two of the 1.5 and saved one of them until the one I am currently using dies. I love it and highly recommend for my hair type.

Been using daily for 10+ years
I love and live by this tool. I have been using this since I was in junior high and I am now 27. I have a layered hair cut, and this gives me he right amount of curl in towards the face that I have always loved. It smoothes my hair, gives it bounce and body, and gives me the layered around my face look. I love it. It makes my hair look so much better than any old hair dryer and brush combo could. I have always gotten compliments on my hair, and I always attribute it to this hair tool. It is my beauty secret, if you will. It is something I will never be without. I use it daily and my hair is still healthy, so I believe it is less damaging than a normal curler. I can't live without it. I took off a star because these things do not last long at all. Some break within 2 months, some last almost a year. I've been using these for so long and I have gone through a tone. However, I have yet to find a product that compares with my hair, and I can usually pick one up for fifteen to twenty dollars, so I feel it is well worth the bargain. I should also point out that I only always use the stiff bristled brush that comes with it. It combs out all the tangles and locks them that way, so it leaves the hair great looking all day. I also do find that after the initial curling that my hair relaxes a tiny bit through out the day, but that just makes the curl and body look more natural. I have also had my hair all different lengths from hitting just at my shoulder to down the middle of my back and have always used this - no matter then length, it always smoothes and pefects. It's a wonderful tool, even if it doesn't last long. Although, it might not last because I use it almomst daily! Also, I would like to point out, I often switch between different types of shampoo/conditioner, from Pantene, Tresemee, Pureology, Biolage...and no matter which type I use, I always get the same results...from cheap to expensive. Give it a shot for salon perfect hair!

DO NOT PURCHASE! DOESN'T WORK AND CAN'T RETURN
Go ahead and do yourself a favor, save money, and purchase another product. I almost never write product reviews, but I want to save people from the headache this product causes! It doesn't have enough power to dry your hair, even after 5+ passes. It's a gentle blow that you can barely feel. I purchased this to use on my own hair (thick and curly, more African American style) as well as my wigs (thin and straight, more Asian and European style). It couldn't dry either and doesn't work across any hair type. I also tried returning the product, and I was only given the option of troubleshooting with the device. I even tried contacting Amazon customer service who also directed me to Conair's troubleshooting videos. Then when troubleshooting didn't work (no surprise), I tried to return the item again. I was told that I had to contact the manufacturer (Conair) myself. When I called Conair they don't me they don't do refunds for purchases they don't make. Since they sold the products to Amazon, that's who would refund me. So I'm stuck in a loop There is no way to contact Conair directly. Conair has no email address, so you can only call their customer service line (1-800 number). I have called multiple times and am still able to get to a person who can refund my order. The phone is an automated customer service bot that only lets you get updates on your order status or Conair's products. SO, IF YOU WANT TO TAKE THE RISK AND TRY FOR YOURSELF- BEWARE YOU CAN'T RETURN OR GET YOUR MONEY BACK!

A curling drying combo that is gentle and doesn’t pull out my hair.
This curling drying combo dries evenly and quickly without being frizzy. It is bigger than I thought but still light weight and quieter than most dryers. I used it on my 88 year old mother who is losing her hair and it was so gentle and soft. Great product!

Disappointing - may work for some people
Just a warning - I am an old lady with a head of somewhat thin gray hair. I have been using another brand of brush dryer for over 5 years but it is having problems so I ordered this set. I ordered this unit so that I had a choice between a multiple bristle brush and the stiffer plastic brush (I liked the bristle one better). For me - this is a frustrating product. 1. There are no directions on how to change brushes. 2. Turning the ring from Lock to Open was a big challenge for arthritic hands. When I finally got the ring turned to open, open, I struggleld to pull out the small brush. 3. Then came my next challange - tryiing to insert the larger brush. There is a little piece of plastic that sticks out on the bottom of the end that goes into the handle but there is no indication if there is a place this should be inserted. After struggling for a while, I finally was able to push then new brush into the unit. 5. Now the biggest problem - anda big failure. I could NOT get the ring to turn from Open to Lock. I pulled the brush out and rotated the brush to move the position of the little piece of plastic bump. I was able to use the unit without locking in the brush - it was OK but it didn't give me the lift or the curl that I was used to with my old dryer brush. This unit may work better for someone with younger hands.

wont buy another, this is amazing
i bought this for my mom as a gift after buying for myself twice. Purchased in the store a very long time ago then had to replace & bought on amazon b/c it was the perfect curling iron brush. No other brush is literally the perfect size and is so easy to use. So many are sold in ulta, tjmaxx, target, walgreens but none of those come close and are triple the price. this thing is amazing.

Rubbish product
Rubbish product. Need a converter to use. Supposed to reach 30 Nov but I only received today 5 Dec and can’t use. Not even with the converter I have. So now I have to find one converter that can attach to this. Delivery was super long and the inconvenience. Can’t try if it’s working condition or not. Singapore customers, do not buy! Waste of more money and time. Will review more once tested.

Combo hair dryer
I like this hair dryer because it comes with 2 size hair brushes. A 1-inch bristle brush for short hair and a 1.5-inch brush for when my hair grows longer. The dual voltage makes it ideal to travel with. It has very good drying power. One thing that I will mention is that in the description it states that it comes with a 3/4 inch bristle brush and a 1 inch brush. The size of the small brush is incorrect it is not 3/4 inch but 1 inch. the larger brush is 1.5 inches. Other than that I am pleased with the purchase
