Q: Can this socket be used with a big breaker bar to get the job done? Or is impact wrench required?

Although a 1/2” breaker bar will fit this socket , you will need a crankshaft pulley holding tool to hold the engine from turning while attempting to loosen the crankshaft pulley bolt . This socket will NOT fit through the 50mm crankshaft pulley holding tool used on Honda engines for example . This socket and/or other sizes or brands are designed to be used exclusively with an impact wrench . Since it won’t fit through the pulley holding tool previously mentioned , using this socket with a breaker bar will be of no advantage if you’ve no way to hold the engine from turning upon attempting to loosen the crankshaft pulley bolt . Using the holding tool will require just a deep impact standard socket so that it may fit through the holding tool .

The extra momentum will help you to get the crankshaft bolt to move.

If using an impact wrench, the inertia of the engine will keep it from turning. If you do the crank pulley bolt first, before you take the serpentine belt off, the inertia of the accessories will also keep it from turning. I just did this, and the engine didn't turn at all.
