Witness the rise of manโs first galactic federation: The Terran Alliance. When Simon and Katherine Hawke stumble upon an alien shuttle that has landed on earth, itโll not only change the course of their lives, but of the entire world. Taking the shuttle into orbit, they discover a much larger ship left adrift with no one on board. Commandeering it, they confirm that weโre not alone in the universe and must prepare the human race for what is about to come. Recruiting from all over the world, they begin to expand their fleet and build a federation to give humans a foothold in the galaxy. Thus the Terran Alliance is formed, led by Simon, Kitty, Gayle, and their new comrades. Everything is going according to planned as they construct more ships, but the governments of the world are vying for control of these technologies. To make matters worse, their second encounter with an alien species is not one of peace. After the attack, they are left with more questions than answers as they face resistance from, not only outer space, but their home planet as well. #1 Best Seller in Humorous Science Fiction Newly re-edited (June 2019)! Review: Stellar new series! Can't wait for each new installment! Lots of room to grow! - After reading current top critical review, I had to go back and re-read Book 1 (after having first read 1 then 2 then critical review). Can't really understand the negative reviews. This is excellent story telling, believable premise that it's not at all hard to suspend disbelief to entertain. Well worth your time and effort. SPOILER: SPOILER: SPOILER: The end of Book 1 "Legacy" comes out of nowhere and steals your breath away! The nerve! The gall! This author kills off our hero and looks like our heroine too! WTF?! BUT, seriously, take a deep breath. Do you believe the Alliance is going to fail upon this horrible loss? Really? NO, of course not. These people our hero/heroine collected to their cause, this Alliance they've formed is by no means ended. The human species' future is at stake. The survivors BELIEVE and KNOW that they must persevere, however much their hearts ache. AND THEY DO.... And in Book 2 "Spheres of Influence" we see the Alliance move on from this tragedy....and then ANOTHER SPOILER: ANOTHER SPOILER: ANOTHER SPOILER: ...and then the Alliance learns that Simon is NOT dead! He survived! And Kitty is not dead, she's in alien healing chamber getting healed. And after some interesting drama, the Alliance recovers Simon, and proceeds on the path Simon and Kitty started them down. And Lucy is WONDERFUL! Great job, Author! Seriously great story, can't wait for next installment! Review: An exciting new space saga - Legacy is the first book in Bob Mauldin's Stellar Heritage Series. This installment follows the early formation of the Terran Alliance. Beginning with the circumstances that lead to the Hawkes possession of a super advanced alien spacecraft and following their plan to expand and protect this invaluable resource for the benefit of humanity. They face dangers from Earth and beyond. While much of the story is world-building, it contains plenty of action, adventure, and intrigue, with complex and compelling characters. I recommend this book to current and new science fiction fans.

An exciting new space saga
Legacy is the first book in Bob Mauldin's Stellar Heritage Series. This installment follows the early formation of the Terran Alliance. They face dangers from Earth and beyond. While much of the story is world-building, it contains plenty of action, adventure, and intrigue, with complex and compelling characters. Outstanding new series
The book needs some good editing but I can overlook that because of the great plot and character development. The characters come alive as people you know around you and have their quirks and foibles. I tend to appreciate the story and unless the flaws completely overwhelm the readability, I will ignore them and just enjoy the book. I have been reading science fiction for over 60 years and have seen some incredibly talented writers appear in the last 10 years with the advent of self publishing of ebooks. Despite the lack of the finer points of publishing such as good editing, this venue has allowed talent to rise and will, with time get their details resolved to everyone's satisfaction. Carry on!

Great
This was a great book. I was fascinated with this story. I truly enjoyed this book. It had all things that i love in a book. Action, intrigue, mystery, hope and even humor. I had make myself put the story down at times. I didn't like the sad things but i know that is a part of life. I do have one request. My brother would love this book. But he only listens to them on the way to and from work hour and a half long drive one way. So the request is if there's someway to get it to Audible. He and i would very much appreciate it. Thank you

Shows promise
Good idea, nice flow to the story. But, I think the book also shows an inexperienced writing style. The style jumps from one style to another, first person to narrator, technical to personal, etc... itโs like a blend of young adult adventure with serious political undertones. Still, itโs shows promise, so weโre moving on to book two.

Not a bad start.
Pros: I like the story line, and the path chosen by the author. Loving the part where we have to deal with woke socialist doctrine so comments in today's authers. Cons: As person who was once part of the us military, I am well aware of how heavy handed it, and its sister agency's can be. the lack of professionalism re the behaviour of our suits and military personal is not realistic. people like this do exist, but they do not get the plush career making assignments represented in this book ( we save them 3 rd world county's). Following procedures, professional ism, and an awareness of what public image is expected at any given setting is required for these positions. they CA be cutthroat, but they will do it with polite/ political nature, A smile, and warm body language( trained to put the public at ease). 3rd world country in this day and age do not have starvation and poverty because a larger nation took all the resources available. The box lens are internal, with corrupt people controlling/ hoarding the resources avalable. This corrupt ion prevents education and technology that would allow the comment fold to have better lives. this education and technology would also rob the Despots running things of their power and control. One of the characters has a nervous breakdown/PTSD and just voices back. NOPE! The Dr would have referred her to a clinical psychologist, and would be er have cleared her for duty without said psychologist report. It is a given that some of us are more prone/capable of violence/ killing. Those of us who are not capable go into(or are moved to) other professions. This commander would self destruct killing herself, and possibly others with ever increased risky/ destruct ive actions.

Outstanding Book
This is an exceptionally good book. Author Bob Maulding is an excellent writer both in format and writing style, and does outstanding character development. He makes this story not only believable, but also desirable. I want to volunteer as on of the crew members. The special honor he pays to my favorite science fiction writers is very poinent. As Master Science Fiction author Robert A Heinline wrote in his "Number of the Beast", "I tell you three times..." if you like science fiction stories, you will absolutely love this book!

A new Author for me
Excellent plot line and expansion thereon. My only downer was the ending. Hate when main characters are killed off in the beginning of a series but then I read the epilog. I m more than sorry to hear the author ( a fellow Montanan) has since left us.
