great desk
I am loving this desk. I recently took a work from home underwriting job so i needed a desk that provided enough room for two large monitors, a docking station for my laptop, and still enough room to spread out documents to review and this desk is perfect. Luckily my laptop is small enough that my docking station and laptop fit perfectly and conveniently in the keyboard tray so thats not even visible to the eye. I prefer to havd my keyboard above. It seems very sturdy and it is very sharp looking. Unfortunately if i ever move i will not be able to get it out of my downstairs office in one piece, i will have to take it apart. But thats fine. I put it together myself, instructions were clear. I was misding some screws, but luckily there were other extras that were included so i made them work. It took me a good 4 hours to put together the main parts of the desk, with a few breaks inbetween. Then another hour or so the next day to finish and install the drawers. There were a few marks on a few pieces but nothing major and a black sharpie fixed that no problem. The shipping seemed slower than it should have been (one week from ordering to received) and it was delivered by some random company id never heard of. The poor delivery guy was solo but still managed getting the 200lb box in my house. The box was wrapped in plastic that was covered in black filth, i waxnt too happy about having that sll over my floors but i got over it and got it ouside asap. He brought it in main kevel of my house, and i then just had to carry it in pieces downstairs. But it was well worth it. It looks great. I also purchased the matching file cabinet, whicj which also looks nice but it's much wider (front to back) than the pictures make it look like. But its still solid. I bought locks to have installed on it but there is no lip on the top so i hsve to look into a different kind of lock. I would highly recommend this desk!

Beautiful, Spacious, and Worth Every Minute of Assembly
I’m so happy with my purchase of the Sauder Edge Water Executive Desk in Chalked Chestnut. It’s a true executive-sized desk—long, wide, and designed to give you a proper workspace. I have a gorgeous diamond-stitched, wide executive-style chair, and it fits perfectly under the desk without feeling cramped at all, and looks great with it. The chalked chestnut color is beautiful in person—neutral yet rich—and gives the space a polished look. Assembly took me about 4 hours on my own. There was one step that was a bit more involved, so I asked my husband for help (parts P & Q 😧), but otherwise, the process was simple and well laid out. I also appreciated that the desk came in two separate boxes, which made it much easier to manage and likely helped prevent any shipping damage (as I ordered another desk from another company, and let's just say both arrived with damaged desk tops, so I'm glad I found Sauder!!). Everything arrived in just about perfect condition except for the fronts of 2 drawers but I don't think it was from delivery but from manufacturing, so I've asked for replacement parts and believe I will get what I asked for, but will update you on that experience once they respond! I love that I was able to register the product through Sauder, too—it gives a little peace of mind in case anything comes up. This desk has elevated my office space in the best way. Highly recommend if you’re looking for something solid, stylish, and functional.

Get this desk.
Without spending $500+ at a furniture store this is just about the best desk for the price. It may not be real wood and needs to be constructed, however the finished product LOOKS AND FEELS like a quality piece of furniture. I am beyond satisfied. Let's start with shipping: Scheduled for 2 weeks. Company called with an earlier date. Received 5 days early. HUGE heavy box placed in living room for me. When I say heavy I couldn't budge it, so it was unpacked and assembled from where they placed it. Next, the contents: The desk comes in about a thousand pieces, but do not be discouraged... Just stay organized and work slow paying attention to the nitty gritty details. It helped me to leave the stickers on and to only open the screws that are needed working out of the separated packs. Also, be careful! Inspect everything. In my case the top of the desk had a crack. Sauder customer service was AMAZING though, not only did they send a new top to me in 2 days but they even replaced a leg that I had mishandled and put a huge gash in the finish! Seriously I am so very thankful for the splendid treatment as a customer. On to construction: As I said stay organized and have a large carpeted area. The finish will scratch! Make sure you read the directions thoroughly, don't be afraid to go back and double check. I am a 35yo with carpentry experience but still misplaced a piece that caused me to have to go back several steps. Some people stated they used a power tool, I did not. I trust in my own judgment as for feeling the tightness of each screw. That did tack some time on, about 5 hours total from start to finish. Not rushing, just enjoying the experience and the smell of the fresh lumber. Had to adjust the top drawers once completed, this was easy to do. Just pull it out a bit and loosen the first screw so it moves enough to roll smoothly in and out. Finally, the finished product: It is gorgeous. I love it. It is heavy. Buy 1 1/8 inch Sliders for the legs. Also a can of furniture polish, it is a fingerprint magnet. I also purchased an oversized mouse pad to protect the main area of use while also adding additional functionality and cushioning for my electronics.

Looks nice.
They came packaged well and I only had 1 damaged (scratched) piece, but it's to the inside of the desk, so no big deal. Can't see it. We bought 2 of them (1 for me, 1 for my wife). It takes several hours to assemble, but it's not hard to assemble if you pay close attention to the pictures to see how things are supposed to line up. The only "hard" part is getting the drawers to line up properly, but they are adjustable in places. I saw a reviewer call the wood plywood. It's NOT plywood, it's coated particle board (like IKEA furniture). The only real wood on the whole desk are the feet that touch the floor. Everything else is particle board and MDF. It's sturdy though, but having experience with this stuff, I wouldn't put too much weight on it as it may sag over time. The only thing I can say I don't like about the desk are the drawer bottoms. They went with cheap flimsy pieces that slide into grooves. I'm going to add my own support to the bottoms though. Minus 1 star for the drawers. The desks look great and I'll have to do my best not to scratch the faux wood coating.

High Quality Desk
This is a high quality desk. The drawer slides are smooth and were easy to install with predrilled holes exactly where they needed to be for a good fit. I assembled the desk by myself except for placing the large top, which required another person. I'm very happy with this desk and would definitely recommend it.

FOLLOW THE ASSEMBLY DIRECTIONS VERY CAREFULLY!
This is a very nice looking and nice working cheap desk--the laminate is about as thick as scotch tape. It does everything it should do. It goes together perfectly--after all, all the holes and fasteners are computer directed. I've put together a lot of furniture like this, and it took me 8 hours to assemble. All you have to do is follow the directions so closely you will go slightly crazy--there's about 200 parts and screws etc. to put together! But the directions are spot-on, and so are all the parts. I'd advise having or purchasing a ratcheting screwdriver very strongly, since you will be doing a lot of screwing! UPDATE 2021: After 4 years of service, the 'laminate' on the top, where I use a mouse, has become pitted with brown spots where the finish has worn away. The laminate is thinner, I think, than even tape: it's more like just black paint on cheap particle board. Still, everything works fine and the big heavy desk is a workhorse.

Gorgeous desk!!
This desk is worth the money. It’s solid, has plenty of storage, and is a beautiful black. It’s solid ~ took several hours to assemble, but my husband was a trooper. The top drawers function well for storing small supplies and the bottom ones are perfect for hanging files.

low quality and design flaws
One of the two slide/rail pairs that support the keyboard drawer failed right away and got stuck — the drawer had to be removed altogether. This drawer is, perhaps, the least important component of the desk, but it speaks of the overall quality. The front panels of all other drawers are very flimsy, made of a thin material. Having the knobs mounted on those panels (as opposed to, say, on the frame) may cause problems, in particular, if a drawer is heavy. Otherwise, the assembly is easy but very time consuming. The desk looks better on the pictures than it actually is, but this is not uncommon.

The actual size of the desktop
Just what I was looking for. Sturdy and desk top large enough to hold my computer and everything else I need for my business

Good Desk
Overall, I am happy with the desk, so I’m giving it a thumbs up and recommending it. However, there are a few things that are not as perfect as they should be with the desk. By default, the modesty/privacy panel is as tall as the side cabinets. When sitting at the desk, if I straightened my legs, I would hit it, and that meant my legs could not fully extend (I am 180 cm tall – 5’9”). So, I cut 22 cm off the bottom of the privacy panel (I reattached the decorative bottom trim on the inside since my desk sits against a wall). Now when I stretch my legs out, I’m not hitting the panel. The drawers are shallower than you’d expect; they’re only 37 cm deep. My old IKEA desk was smaller, yet it still managed to have drawers that were 44 cm deep. And my wife’s 30-year-old desk is the exact same dimensions as this desk, yet it has 60 cm deep drawers. There is an extra 20 cm of empty space inside the cabinets of this desk, so they could have made the drawers deeper.

Desk is falling apart
Delivery took 2+ months and the desk (at year 2) is falling apart. Looks good but I would not have purchased it if I knew that the design had issues (or maybe it's the material?).

Follow the instruction
Great looking and functional desk. Make sure you follow the instruction step by step or you will run into trouble later on. The only reason i gave it a 4 star is because the delivery company sucks
