Crank works smoothly, very low effort transitions between sitting and standing. Bamboo top turned out to be pretty nice looking in person.EDIT: After owning this desk for a couple of months it is not holding up well! The bamboo top makes intermittent cracking and popping sounds and has split in several places (the strips of bamboo are coming separated from each other). Very disappointing and cheap feeling... the top is now very rough. It appears almost as if the wood top was assembled before the bamboo had fully dried or something? I'm not sure, I just know it's cracking all over the place :( Hard to see in photos, hopefully you can tell.EDIT 2: After my first edit above, the seller contacted me and offered to ship a replacement desk. Great (I thought)! They said they would pay for return shipping for the desk with the cracking bamboo top. Unfortunately, it has been a little over two months and the replacement desk was not sent to me. I've checked in again with customer service and have not heard back.EDIT 3: It's been about 6 months (?). Customer service finally followed up and shipped a replacement desk!EDIT 4: The replacement desk has the same issue. Consider staying away from the bamboo in favor of another wood alternative. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Good standing desk *by B***. on Reviewed in the United States on August 9, 2015* This is a very reasonably priced alternative to a standing desk. The unit was relatively easy to assemble, and the hand crank assembly operates smoothly. I went this route, rather than the much more expensive powered desk route, because of two reasons. First, I could literally buy two of these for about the same price as a motorized 60" standing desk, and because motors are the first thing to fail on a powered device. I am not so feeble as to need the desk motorized, though the motorized desks are probably much faster to raise and lower.Overall, the workmanship is good. The leg assembly is very sturdy, which is what I was looking for, as I have to support a heavy triple monitor stand with three 26" desktop monitors attached to it. The supporting structure for the table top distributes load well, and there is no sagging, or other sign that the desk cannot support the weight.They offer cable routing and power options, but I long ago discovered heavy duty velcro, and I just attached a velcro strip to the back of two surge bars, and mounted one left and one right onto the frame. That allows all my cables to be bundled, and only a couple of cables need to accommodate the raising and lowering function.This is a very tall standing desk. I am 6'4" tall, and at max height, it is almost too high to work at when I am standing. I actually have to lower it a bit from the top position. When I ran all the cables, I raised it to max height to make sure that the surge bar power cables had enough slack, and found that I could comfortably sit on the floor under it, with a couple of inches to spare, to tie up and route cables. This would be a good desk for anyone of any height, from about 5 feet to over 6.5 feet. It has a very wide range, and can be adjusted anywhere within the range. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great value, solid, attractive, recommended *by S***Y on Reviewed in the United States on September 15, 2015* 2015-09-15: Been using the glossy white top with charcoal metal version of this desk for a few days. I have about a year's experience with one other adjustable-height desk. And I'm computer/data scientist, so I live at my computer. A laptop with an external LCD and misc. papers and pens and a couple drink coasters live on my desk - altogether maybe 10-15lbs of weight.So far, I recommend this desk - it's a great value! Only two fairly minor issues:1) I'm 6', 0" tall. I've settled on 66 cranks to go from sitting to standing. The cranking effort is low (maybe max of 10lbs of force when raising), but I wonder if the gearing could be made coarser to reduce the required number of cranks. I'm used to a more expensive hydraulic design that raises/lowers in about 5 seconds with the press and hold of a tab beneath the tabletop, so the cranking feels like a big effort by comparison (even though it's actually less than a minute).Even so, I only do this about twice/day, and I imagine this will become less of an issue as I become more comfortable standing for longer periods of time...2) Possibly owing to the single-leg stands on each side, the desk rocks back-and-forth a bit during cranking. It definitely won't tip-over, and it's plenty stable in regular use - but if you have a beverage filled too high resting on the desk when you adjust it, you might get some splash-out. So, ensure you don't overfill, or take a sip before cranking, or keep your drink away from whatever you don't want wet. (Fortunately, this hasn't happened to me yet, but I can imagine it happening.)That's it for issues. There are higher quality adjustable desks out there, but not anywhere near this price level.Overall, the desk feels solid, is comfortable, is rollable (with two locking casters), should adapt nicely to adding a separate treadmill, and blends-in beautifully with a surrounding modern design style. It's also easy to build (although I would've split-out a couple steps for clarity), taking me a little under 2 hours.
