At first, my wife insisted that I not waste the money on this bag (preferring to use trash bags, etc...); but I ordered it anyway. Wow, am I thrilled! First, the density of the plastic bag itself is awesome. While I had a soft cast to start; the new hard cast has some sharper edges; however, I am confident that the bag will handle a few nicks along with the many uses I intend to give it. Also, as my wife is pushing me after two weeks to be totally independent; I am practicing my own Olympic gymnastics trying to get this on and into the shower. I can easily put the protector on with one hand and pull up past my cast and knew with great ease (Gold Medal performance by product and user as far as I am concerned). Moving onto the next event; the shower! I can now say that with this protector and a hard cast, I am up to taking a shower every day (at least once or maybe even twice a day after the gym) thanks to the ease of using this protector. The plastic rubber seal that fits 100% secure on your leg (even my big fat leg) is awesome. There is enough flexibility in the seal, that if you get the right size (or any size range closely aligned to the length of what you purchase); than I am confident that your cast or area of injury will not get wet a all! I have taken 3 showers with the protector so far not even with a drop of water on the protected limb. That includes not having residual water drop on my cast when I am taking off the protector. I was so confident that the protector would keep my cast dry that I suggested to my MD that I could literally go swimming with it on (frowned upon at this time due to the nature of the injury); but I will be trying it soon once my cast comes off! So, if I could give this product 10 STARs!!!! I definitely would. As far as trash bags; since I can use this product with confidence over and over again (I foresee at least 100 showers with its use in the future); it is also of better value in the end being a very cost effective, safe, and pleasant device to use. After surgery I was in a full leg brace which did not allow the leg to bend for several weeks. I ordered this product because I was getting desperate for a shower but I knew the leg brace must remain on. When the DMI Cast/Bandage Protector showed up my first thought was "No way will that work". The hole in the stretchy material at the top looked way to small. I am happy to say that it is not too small. It stretches quite a bit. We were able to get it over the leg brace and it securely snapped back to the skin on my upper thigh. This protector works exactly like the vendor indicates it will. My bandages and brace remained dry while allowing me to finally get a shower. The venal is nice and thick.
