Includes a preview of Watch Your Back Review: The perfect Ending - For people who have read the first book 'Did you miss me?' you would find this novella a perfect ending. The first book ended with what I felt a lack of closure. This novella was able to put lingering questions to rest. The story follows the heroine on her quest to overcoming what happened in the previous book, for those who haven't read 'Did you miss me?' I strongly suggest doing so, for two reasons; its a fantastic book and would give a better background for those wishing to read this. Without giving away the entire story the novella deals with the trauma of a young child and the strength the heroine displays in overcoming her fears and facing her demons. While sad in regards to the topic it was an inspiring story full of suspense that is normally hard to grasp in novellas. While it is short, the story itself is captivating, I wish it had been longer as I feel the aspects in the story could have been explained in greater detail, it had the potential to be another full book. The novella is an ending that fits well and leaves readers satisfied that the heroine from the first book is at peace. I would strongly recommend reading both of these books! Review: Broken Silence - Wonderful short story. Loved the characters. Happy that she helped bring Joseph and Daphne's relationship into a bigger picture. I definitely wouldn't have minded the story to be just a little bit longer. But with this book having a connection to many of her other books it was worth the read.

Broken Silence by Kate Rose
Intriguing but way to short and I truly don’t like short excerpts about other novels. Kare Rose is an outstanding author, so I expect more. Reviewed by Heide Katros, Winter Haven News, Florida

Short Story Packs A Punch
Asst. State's Attorney Daphne Montgomery is on a 2-weeks leave following a traumatic kidnapping of her and her son. She's not the type to sit around at home and do nothing. So when Baltimore Special Agent Joseph Carter asks for her help, she can't say YES fast enough. Four days ago, a very young little girl was found next to a burned out car with the bodies of her (what they believe) parents. Calling her Angel, she hasn't spoken a word since she was found. Joseph knows that giving Daphne something to do is exactly what she needs. When Daphne gets Angel to talk, a mysterious crime comes to light. Daphne and Joseph find themselves hunting a ruthless killer ... one who still wants Angel. Karen Rose is my go-to author for Romantic Suspense. Her books are a terrific blend and her characters as she paints them are impeccable. I'm always a little sad when I reach the end of a book. This is actually short story .... which is a bit of prequel for WATCH YOUR BACK.

Could have been much more
I’m not a big fan of short stories and novellas but I’m a big fan of Karen Rose and do read every bit she writes. Hence, how could I resist?! I won’t bother anybody with a summary of the novella because the blurb was very concise and expressive. Just let me tell you that this novella was based on the author’s “Did You Miss Me” and I strongly recommend that you read this one before you proceed to “Broken Silence”. The fact that this piece of information was placed in the end of the book wasn’t really helpful. Maybe a few highlights of “Did You Miss Me” as and introduction would have put the reader right from the start into the right mood to enjoy the short story’s atmosphere. The main reason I avoid novellas is that there is, according to my opinion, not enough space for character development and plot. However, since this story was based on a previous book, space for elaboration towards this direction could be “saved” and “relocated” to the plot. This worked out just fine. The plot was gripping and intense from the beginning. Karen Rose at her usual top performance! The romance part of the book focused on Joseph’s and Daphne’s relationship and how they tried to cope with the aftermath of Daphne’s ordeal. There were some hints referring to what she went through but I felt that this part needed definitely more information to be able to relate. (Maybe those highlights would have helped?) What I definitely missed was the sizzling sex scenes Rose usually crafts so perfectly! My complaint? My usual “thing” with novellas. There was so much potential that I thought there could have been, no, there definitely should have been more. Anyway…………………… An intense and fast read that had everything: a good plot, steady romance and nice suspense. For Rose fans a definite must!

BROKEN SILENCE BY KAREN ROSE
I've not yet met a Karen Rose book I didn't absolutely enjoy. She's a great writer and really holds your interest. I've found it hard to put her books down.

Love it but too short
It was great to see Daphane & Carter, two of my favorite characters. The story takes place 2 weeks after Did You Miss Me, and Daphane finally get closure for what happened in her childhood. It was cool to see Sophie & Vito Ciccotelli. I just wish this was a novel instead of a short story. But Karen Rose never disappoints. I would highly recommend this book.

good versus evil
This is the first book by Karen Rose that I have read and it won't be the last. It was perfect for me that this short novella was delivered to my kindle the day after I had finished reading Stephen King's fantastic new book 'Doctor Sleep'. I needed something to clear my mind but didn't want anything too weighty. Broken Silence didn't disappoint. It is about a traumatised young child found in the snow beside the burnt out wreck of a car with the bodies of a man and woman inside, presumed to be her parents. The problem is the child has been so affected by what she has seen that she cannot speak. Daphne Montgomery is the Assistant State's Attorney who is herself on leave from a traumatic event concerning her own family and is brought in to try to communicate with the child, using experience from her own childhood. It is important that they are able to make this breakthrough because the little girl is the only witness and holds the answers which will help the police start their investigation. I cannot say too much more without giving away spoilers which I don't want to do. Suffice to say this is well worth reading. It contains gentle loving characters pitted against those capable of performing acts of unbelievable brutality, all in the name of greed. A clear example of good against evil.

Simple and just as I was expecting
It was what I was expecting. I recently read a trilogy of this author in which there was a character here presented as a secondary element, but it was a surprise. It is short, but I liked it.

Closure
A great follow up with closure for Daphne in a short but gripping story. Love this family in the Baltimore series. Again a cleverly woven exciting plot from Karin Rose.
