Product Description The complete fifth season of the TV series CSI. desertcart.com Relaxing at the top of the Nielsen ratings, C.S.I. Crime Scene Investigation: The Complete Fifth Season stretched its legs a little to wander into the more grisly, more disturbing, and altogether more personal. "Down the Drain" showed the first overt romantic moment--in the form of a near-kiss--between Catherine Willows (Marg Helgenberger) and Warrick Brown (Gary Dourdan), which was discussed at length in the commentary and behind-the-scenes featurette as "a big moment." After that tease, the series pulled back and plunged into some of its most disturbing crimes yet. In "King Baby," a wealthy, middle-aged murder victim turns out to have lived as a baby, complete with adult-sized nursery; in "4x4," a personal trainer's face is eaten away from the inside out due to toxic mold in his house; in "Compulsion," a teen boy kills his younger brother for revealing that the older brother wets the bed. The biggest change in this season is an HR one: new director Conrad Ecklie (Marc Vann) splits up the team, making Willows a shift supervisor and causing friction between she and Sara Sidle (Jorja Fox). He also adds a new member, Sofia Curtis (Louise Lombard), to banter with Gil Grissom (William Petersen)'s team. The move doesn't dampen the show's pace, as most cases break the team into twosomes anyway. But it does add a new villain in Ecklie, all politics and PR versus Grissom's heart to protect his team. Meanwhile, other cases dig deeper into the personal demons of Sidle and Willows; and the season finale, a slam-bam two-parter handily directed by Quentin Tarantino, focuses on the kidnapping of Nick Stokes (George Eads), buried alive with fire ants. This episode, the most emotionally charged yet, brings the entire team together and shows why it's still the No. 1 show on television. --Ellen A. Kim Review: The “times, they are a-changin’” in “CSI: Crime Scene Investigation” Season 5... - “CSI: Crime Scene Investigation” once again proved itself at the top of its game among crime procedural dramas when Season 5 premiered on CBS in September 2004. With 25 suspenseful episodes, this police procedural had by now become one of my established favorites, and one of only a very few shows that I would make the time each week to watch. I now own the 7-DVD set containing every outstanding episode of this shows fifth season. The “times, they are a-changin’” in “CSI: Crime Scene Investigation” Season 5. Gil Grissom’s old nemesis Gordon Ecklie (Mark Vann) has been promoted to the head of the crime lab, a fact that doesn’t sit very well with anyone. Gil Grissom (William Peterson) continues as grave shift supervisor, and Catherine Willows (Marg Helgenberger) receives a long-overdue promotion to swing shift supervisor. Ecklie splits up Grissom’s team by reassigning Warrick Brown (Gary Dourdan) and Nick Stokes (George Eads) to Willows’ shift. That leaves Sara Sidle (Jorja Fox), a recently demoted and disgruntled Sophia Curtis (Louise Lombard), and CSI field tech trainee Greg Sanders (Eric Szmanda) working for Grissom… Let the fireworks begin. “CSI: Crime Scene Investigation” Season 5 has several outstanding episodes, including “Who Shot Sherlock?” where Greg Sanders must successfully pass his final field evaluation before he can leave the DNA lab and become a CSI-1. In “Ch-Ch-Changes,” the team investigates the brutal murder of a transsexual woman alongside a highway. In the two-part “Grave Danger,” episode, Nick Stokes is abducted and buried alive inside a Plexiglas coffin, and the team races against time to discover his whereabouts and rescue him. With its consistently high production values, “CSI: Crime Scene Investigation” continues hitting its stride in Season 5. It also maintained its position as one of the most-watched shows on TV, averaging over 25 million viewers each week. Without question, it’s still the best police procedural drama of its generation… and perhaps of all time. Highly recommended. Season 5 episodes!
The best explosive season of CSI there is to this day!, September 20, 2005 Season 5 will now be always remembered of the director Quentin Terintino who directed the 2-hour blockbuster finale in which is mind grabbing, awesome, and thrilling! I liked it
Purchased mainly to revisit the finale and to share with friends who are also big Quentin fans, but enjoyed the whole season again. I had recorded most or all of the season on VHS back then, but had not watched them in years. The episodes hold up well. While not intended as a criticism, I would have enjoyed a bit more of Frank Gorshin.

They've still got it.
The fifth season of CSI starts off pretty much as we would expect from CSI. About halfway through the season, things take a turn. Ecklie becomes the AD of the Crime Lab and promptly separates the team. Grissom, Sara, Greg (who finally makes it into the field), and Sofia from day shift make up one team. Catherine (newly promoted to swing-shift supervisor), Nick, and Warrick make up the other team. Catherine jumps right in with both feet, exerting her authority and taking charge. She and Grissom bump heads a few times as a result. As with the previous seasons, CSI never fails to find creative ways for crimes to occur. This season gives us adult babies, canned hunts, bed-wetting murderers, death by dryer, exploding toilets, nether stubble, and Greg and Sara sharing a shower (no crime there). And of course there is Tarantino. While I like Tarantino and I like CSI, I personally am not a fan of the season finale. I suspect it will be one of those situations where either you like the episode or you don't. No middle ground. Overall, the fifth season does not disappoint.

Glad to own this again!
So nice to be able to watch it whenever I want and not have to depend on a streaming service, etc.

Great entertainment, Great bargain!
I have been collecting the original CSI (the best of all the CSIs) and I think season five is the best so far. There is so much character development and depth given to each cast member's back story, and some of the most bizarre episodes. It's no wonder it's going into its 15th year of production, though I miss the original cast. Great entertainment, great bargain.

When interviewed, the cast and crew of this programme say how compatible they are, and it shows. The same was true of the T.V. version of M.A.S.H.when the final episode of that series came, apparently they were all in tears. Adventure, excitement, lots of humour, interesting technology and gruesome bits too. If you have the previous series, you need to purchase this one too, to see the inter departmental wrangling and relationship twists and turns. The commentaries by the producers, directors and/ or authors and actors are always interesting too.

I really liked this series when it was first shown on tv many years ago! When I heard that the series was coming back for a run with some of the original cast I was anxious to remind myself why I liked it so much originally! I was certainly not disappointed! Still the best series ever made it's type! William Petersen, Jorja Fox and the rest of the cast still bring the characters to life and are fun to watch .

I have been a big fan of CSI Las Vegas since I was a teenager, I may still. It has been 19 years since CSI was aired on TV and CSI is still most fascinating and remarkable TV series that I’ve ever seen in my lifetime.
