Great quality product. Works better than expected.
Tried two other gasoline power washers from another brand from a big box store. Both malfunctioned within an hour of starting them. Both were returned. This Simpson is a horse. Started on the second pull of the starter rope and runs like a dream. Very smooth operation. Honda engine technology and attention to detail are worth the price here. The pump works great. Variable pressure available via the large knob on the top of the pump. Have used it around the house several times. Each time the engine starts on the first pull. It makes pressure immediately and provides enough pressure to really clean the concrete driveway or whatever else you intend to clean. It does make more pressure than most garden variety electric pressure washers, so beware. If you've had a plug in electric model in the past, this one will make considerably more pressure than most if not all of those. Overall we are very pleased with this purchase, pleased with the Honda engine and the Simpson brand overall. Highly recommended.

Purchased this in 2013/ 2024 updated review....
2024: I've had this model since 2013 now. Little to no issues other than a sticky piston valve assembly which is common and is an easy fix once you know that's the cause of little water pressure. Some summers I use it, some I don't at all and it starts right up thanks to the Honda engine. I may go 2-3 yrs not using it. The pump still is working strong. There is a reason Simpson still sells this SAME model and uses the SAME parts a decade later. I should change the oil regularly but honestly as much as this washer sits and isn't routinely maintained it's amazingly reliable. I should dump the fuel out as well this year. Mental note to change the oil in the next month though. You don't need more than 3k-3500psi. The GX engine and AAA pump is the right combination. Honda's GX is always the better way to go whether it's on a mower or generator. The hose I upgraded to at the time of purchase is still in service with no issues and believe it or not the QD connectors are still good. Did spray one with wd-40 today because it was sticky and wouldn't snap on. Anyone having issues that I saw came from shipping but that happens and that's not a manuf. fault or the seller. Carriers all suck typically. --------- First Review: This was a replacement for a lessor HP/ PSI consumer model that I owned for 10 yrs or so (craftsman). Like many people I did a lot of research and it eventually came down to Simpson and Generac. I chose this Simpson model because of its features, engine and pump quality. I did upgrade to a Simpson 50ft hose (MH5038QC) and QD connectors for the hose and wand. This model is similar to the Dewalt DXPW3228 but at a substantial savings in price. Simpson makes many (if not all) of Dewalt's pressure washers. I used that money to purchase the hose and still saved $200 (minus local taxes had I purchased in a store). The price for this unit on Amazon cannot be beat and you will not find a lower price (I looked everywhere). This is a unit that will serve many purposes from general household uses to vehicle cleaning, etc. If you are going to be cleaning your driveway, porch and walkways...purchase a cylindrical surface cleaner like the EZ Clean AEZ31023. This single attachment is THE most useful tool for cleaning concrete!! I can't stress this enough after not using one for years it made my life so much easier and saved me a lot of time. My unit came shipped with everything with no missing parts, no damage, etc. The directions are very easy to understand/ follow and are authored for the inexperienced user. Setup was easy...just add the included oil and your fuel and off you go. The engine was quieter than my previous Briggs & Stratton. Honda engines are good quality and generally are more quiet than others. Pressure washer engines in general though aren't quiet so don't expect this one to be any different. I'm not sure why people complain about the noise....it's an engine, it makes noise. I only know of a few generator engines that are quiet but they are $1600 and up so you pay for the noise reduction. This unit has the GX engine which is better than the GC. It has a triplex pump which will last the average homeowner a really long time if taken care of (meaning in the winter or when storing for a long time, use pump saver like the Briggs & Stratton 6039 can). It utilizes the most common connectors and parts so finding them will be easy. You can always cross reference with the Dewalt model if you have problems finding them. Enjoy your pressure washer!

Excellent Machine - Powerful and Reliable
Bought an Excel 3100 (from Walmart - Amazon wouldn't deliver to my area) and it blew up in 35 minutes - seriously, 35 minutes! Upgraded to this machine and I am glad did! The Simpson starts easily and runs like a champ. First day out I used it for 6 straight hours, stopping only for fuel (gas for the washer, beer and a sandwich for me) and it never missed a beat. Have used it for a couple of hours on 3 other occasions and ran perfectly every time. It's really more power than I need but really happy I decided to go to the triplex pump and the peace of mind it provides in not having to worry about it failing or wearing out. Plus, I find I can run it with the throttle only midway and still get plenty of power, but with less noise. The low profile is great for storage. Mine seems even lower than what is pictured; the uprights on the handle are not nearly as long as the website shows. There is no way I can hang the coiled hose on the hook because the hose just flops on the ground even if I roll it into a pretty small coil. But it works for me because I can store the unit in a small space under a shelf in my garage. I really would recommend this machine if you have any significant power washing to do. The extra cost is worth it. p.s. If you are anywhere near 6' tall and are cleaning a patio or other ground level surface, get a wand extender to save your back. Like every other stock gun I've had, the wand is way too short to use comfortably - definitely worth the 20 bucks for an extension. Simpson Cleaning 80162 Universal 31-Inch Spray Wand for Cold Water Pressure Washers, 4500 PSI . And if you've got a little more in the budget, I would also really recommend a 50' hose if you are working in an expanded area or just want to get farther from the noise of the engine. Simpson Cleaning 40226 3700 PSI Cold Water Replacement/Extension Hose for Gas and Electric Pressure Washers, 5/16-Inch by 50-Feet (I just realized when I added this link that I bought all Simpson products! It just worked out that way when I searched for the items that got good reviews and met my budget. Really, I don't work for Simpson!)

Save your money - don’t buy Simpson
Have written and updated this four times now and still not showing up in reviews for some reason. Last attempt. I originally posted some comments and described the failure of my machine; withholding full review unit seeing how Simpson supports their products. Now I’m documenting the answer to that… Here is how Simpson pitches this machine: “ The SIMPSON® PowerShot™ Series is designed to meet the rigorous demands of the cleaning pro. Heavy-duty pressure washers with flow and reliability.” They go on to say how this is a great tool for contractors. And this is why I bought this model - though I’m only using it around my home, I wanted a product designed to provide long lasting performance, reliability and durability. Well, friends - this isn’t it. After only two years my pressure washer pump has failed; it has water leaking into the pump oil and Simpson Customer Service informed me it’s caused by a leaking seal or piston issue - and these are wear items so they won’t cover it. The rigorous demands of the cleaning pro is interpreted to mean wearing out after two years is acceptable. I’m a mechanical engineer and worked for 30 years in the HD diesel engine industry so I am familiar with mechanical products, duty cycles and wear. This product failing at two years is “premature wear” especially in light of the relatively light duty cycle it’s experienced. Contractors could not afford to spend money on a product that fails in two years. So if you’re considering a purchase I recommend you save some money and opt for one of the many lower priced options available. I’ve been using a good number of tools from Harbor Freight as of late with good results. Lower priced and performing well —————————————————————— Original post: I bought this two years ago and it’s performed well, but yesterday I looked at the sight glass to check pump oil and couldn’t see anything; the glass looked white. So this morning I drained the pump oil and it came out milky white as shown. My understanding is this means water has gotten into the pump mechanism and based on the color and froth - especially after sitting overnight - I don’t think this could be from a little internal condensation, but from a bad seal in the pump. I imagine this would quickly cause damage to the pump, too, so assume warranty service is at minimum a complete rebuild or replacement of pump. I’ve drained and replaced the oil before and it was fine. I emailed customer support this morning on how to obtain warranty service as this should have a 5-year warranty on the pump. I will revisit review after seeing how they respond. Coincidentally - this afternoon I am due to receive a new pump for my old Excell pressure washer with Honda engine. Engine is still fine and pump gave out after more than a decade. And it was an oil-less pump so never had to service it. So by tomorrow sometime I should have that one back up and running with an upgraded pump.

Wand holder is absolutely terrible! Rest of machine is great!
Excellent motor and pump!. Honda engines are flawless performers and the reason I would only choose a pump with a Honda engine. Pump worked fine for the 5 minutes I ran it 9 before winterizing). Would have given 5 stars if it wasn't for the very poor functioning wand holder. Wand balances in holder when no hose is attached, when hose it attached it is totally non-functional. You might as well just place the wand on the ground. For such a well equipped machine with good quality parts it was disappointing to see such a poorly designed wand holder. Also it would be appreciated if handle extensions were offered as an option as the standard handle is very low and difficult for a 6+ foot person to wheel machine around without being hunched over unnecessarily.

This is the right one.
I did quite a bit of research before buying this unit. I had also purchased a Generac 6590 from an eBay seller, but it was damaged during delivery and I returned it. I was impressed with how that unit was set up, but after doing some additional research, I decided to go with the Simpson. The Honda engine should be bulletproof and after going through multiple disposable electric cleaners over the years, I wanted to something with a triplex pump. Amazon shipping was fast and free, and my unit was packed well and had no shipping damage. One of the wheels had some damage, but it seemed pretty clear that it happened during assembly at the factory. I contacted Amazon and the immediately offered to take it back or refund me enough to replace the wheel. I accepted the refund and was impressed by how easily they handled the transaction. As far as the unit goes, I am very pleased. It was easy to set-up (read directions carefully, especially if this is your first gas pressure washer), and it started on the first pull. I also purchased an EZ Clean rotary surface cleaner (15") and this combination made quick work of my driveway and sidewalk. I would highly recommend getting one, it was a huge time saver and I was impressed with the results. This unit is exactly what I was hoping it would be. It uses quality components, it has a simple layout (pro in mind), it's small and relatively light, and has more than enough power to do what I need. Note, I have also ordered a 50' Simpson monster hose. The hose that comes with it is fine, I just wanted more reach, and with pressure washers, it is much safer to add reach with the pressure hose than simply buying a longer garden hose. Supply flow is critical to keeping the pump in one piece, and while you may have enough water pressure to supply this washer with a 50' hose, you probably don't have enough to overcome the reduced flow from an old 100' (or longer combo) hose. I didn't take any chances. My water supply is running through a 3/4" x 50' hose. I would highly recommend this pressure cleaner.

Powerful machine
Very nice pressure washer. Easy to put together. Just added the motor oil and it started on the first pull! Honda motors are rock solid. I cleaned the back patio today and it worked as expected. It’s also a pretty compact unit so it won’t take too much space.
