I did not buy another pad. **Q: Is it washable?** A: I have washed my standard size (49x14) in cold water gentle cycle. I use a cold air electric drying rack and slipped it on the board before it was totally dryer to make sure it didn't shrink. I put it on the board finished side down so the padding was exposed to the air and would not get bunched up or possibly musty while it finished drying. I didn't need to iron so I left it for another day before I put it back on the board again. It did not seem to negitively effect the cover. I have always had a front loading machine I I did not add any other laundry. Place material on floor and ironing board face down on top of it. Trace outline with marker, remove ironing board and cut. You will be just a little short, I think. Other alternative is to find some heavy felt, like a 1/4 inch thick at a fabric or upholstery shop and trace your ironing board like I said above. Nevertheless, all the bad experiences now, big thanks for your efforts, dear Amazon! ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ The grey cover had a weird feel at first but so far works well *by S***T on August 25, 2013* After 15 years of use I wanted a new cover for my Brabantia ironing board and thought the grey one might be better at hiding future stains. The stain-resistant part of this review will have to wait a while, but in the meantime I'll give my thoughts about the rest. First of all, the grey cover initially had a funny feel to it...kind of a tacky rubber-ish feel, and my iron didn't glide over it the top of it like the old ecru cover (which was a muslin type fabric). I think it may have just needed some breaking in though, because it seems to be getting less 'tacky' the more and more I use it. Yes, the foam padding is quite thin, but I use an added cotton pad that I made from quilt batting so it's not an issue for me (it may or not matter for this review but I rarely iron clothes, 99% of the time I use an iron only when pressing fabric when making quilts). The cover fit perfectly and was easy to put on, even with my extra pad under it. I like the plastic clip that makes it easy to tie off, and the additional clip that makes it fit tight near the center. All in all I like the Bratantia covers though they really do need thicker pads, or ones made of cotton instead of foam.
