## Questions & Answers

**Q: How large a print from this 16MP camera? I need 30x40 or even larger without pixel distortion.**
A: Very doubtful, as this camera's sensor is 1/2.3 (5.76x4.29 mm) which is the same size found in many smartphones. A 35mm (full-frame) has an area that is 35 times larger than this sensor size. The problem with a sensor this size and a high megapixel count (12 MP or more) is that you end up creating a lot of noise from these microscopic pixels. After certain point you can't help but have a lot of pixel distortion. I've done 8x10 and 11x14 but after that I'd have to resort to using my DSLR to get up there.

**Q: can this camera sownload pictuews ro a computer?**
A: Although I have not downloaded anything directly from the Canon Powershot to my computer (I use SD cards), the Canon manual indicates that you can download images via a mini-USB cable, and you can also update the software on the camera from the Canon website using a mini-USB cable.

**Q: what items are included with camera?**
A: Just the wrist strap and batteries. But still a great entry level camera with nice but not extensive features.

**Q: Which type of SD card is best for this camera?**
A: the cheapest price for the biggest memory makes sense. In terms of manufacturers of cards, I don't know of any big differences - SanDisk is pretty common. In terms of size, it depends on your shooting habits. I transfer the files on my card monthly - the Canon makes monthly folders. I use an 8 gig card, and if I shoot more than 300 pictures, or have more than 20 minutes of movies, it fills up. It might make sense for me to go to 16 gigs, but it's rare with my shooting load that I surpass 8 gigs. If you're someone who NEVER backs up the card, then it may be a better to use a smaller card in order to FORCE YOU into better archiving habits. My wife's camera has files on it dating back three years to various holidays and vacations - she shoots about 25 pictures per year. But if something happened to the card - theft, loss, gets dumped in water - then that's three years' worth of stuff that gets lost if it isn't backed up somewhere else. Short answer - whatever your shooting load is, make sure you regularly back it up and have copies elsewhere. Oh yeah, and you don't have to take every single picture off - you can select some to leave on the card, so that you can have them on your camera for playback. I've got puppy pictures on my camera that are three years old, but I've taken off thousands of pics since. When you copy the whole folder to your computer, you then go back and delete what you want from the card. You don't have to delete everything off the card you've saved to computer. Just delete files you don't want on the card and keep the ones you do. If you don't shoot a lot, you may never fill up the card, but back it up regularly anyway. Enjoy!
