Olive Leaf, like many other herbs, is a natural diuretic and blood thinner and it's best to use in a diet that is balanced in sodium, magnesium and potassium intake (vegetables) and water consumption. If any of these are out of balance please proceed with olive leaf in caution, unless you know for sure it will have the desired effect. Please also make sure to strengthen your kidneys and liver with Eva Ursi and Dandelion while doing so. I think the proper dosage for an older person or very young person to take Olive leaf, is no more than half a pipette (.035ml). It may sound like a little but if you'll be taking it for a couple weeks, it will definitely have an effect over time. No more than a couple weeks at a time, I would say is advised. Again, don't fear Olive Leaf, it's a truly beautiful, excellent herb for the brain and body's immunity. I love to combine mine with oregano and sometimes I'll combine also with Rapid Immune Booster. And I have personally taken 2 pipette fulls of this Olive Leaf tincture in a half cup of water, per day for 3 days with very good results. So, I met with a doctor that I don't normally see. I also dragged my husband with me because I thought my chest pain was a heart attack (not at all an overreaction....) After giving me a chest x-ray and exam, the doctor noted that I just had some inflammation from this chest cold and gave me a list of several over the counter medications (ibuprofen, mucinex) that I could use to alleviate the symptoms. I don't really love to take medicine, and I knew that these options were good - but wouldn't do anything to really prevent me from getting sick again. I expressed this frustration to the doctor - that these options just fix the symptoms, but not the problem. The doctor looked at me, and I expected her to roll her eyes and go about her merry way. However, she walked to the door - which was open for some reason - and shut it. She said that she had - for years - used this olive leaf oil extract as a means to prevent herself from getting sick and to boost her immunity. It was as if she was giving me some secret that only doctors tell each other. I thanked her for her candid advice and promptly ignored it. So while I was busy just complaining about my problems, my husband - who I mentioned was with me - went to the health food store and picked this up. He proceeded to use it for the remainder of the winter and not get sick. Which, was a big deal. I bring a lot of germs home with me from my job and usually he would get sick several times each winter, and the colds would linger and linger and linger. But, suddenly, this stopped happening. The next winter, after seeing this stuff in action, I took the good doctor's advice and have been a believer in this magic stuff ever since. Each time I feel a tingle of a sore throat, or other cold symptom, I would take this. Usually I would not get sick at all, or if I did, it would be a quick two-day cold that would go away quickly. When I was pregnant, I wasn't able to use this and it was the worst. It does taste extremely bitter, so if there are any reviews on here telling you that the taste "isn't that bad!" they're not being honest with you, or they have a terrible pallet. I do a full dropper on my tongue, hate every second of it, and wash it down with water. If I'm feeling bad, I may do this two or three times a day.
