A: No, this is the Body mount (AKA roof mount), you need to drill a hole on the roof

**Q: How long is the cable?**
A: 13.1 ft (4 meter)

**Q: Is it ok if the threads touch the metal to ground or should they be protected and only the round bottom base be grounded? Hard to tell in diagram.**
A: yes it's okay to touch the metal to the ground.

**Q: Is this the correct part to mount a 5000 performer to the roof of a car?  I understand the antenna could be direction installed onto the roof.**
A: As far as I can remember it is the correct body mount to use with a 5000 performer
