Good for me
A YEAR LATER... lights started to not light up 4 months after installation. That was disappointing, as it made my fence look ridiculous w some lights on and some off. Re-reading some of the comments someone had said that they replaced the batteries with new rechargeable solar ones. As much as I didn't want to spend more money, I ended up doing that. That really did the trick though. I charged the batteries around November and they are still working great now in mid May. One light, however, was not lighting up. I took it off the base and noticed that most of the solar cell was covered with bird poop. So, I hosed it down and that did the trick. The lights lit were up even during the wintertime, with snow on top, here in WNY. Only problem I have is that we had 100mph gails last winter and it blew one of the lights off. The two tabs on the base of the light, that go on the post, had broken off with the strong winds. With one other post, my kids were playing basketball in the driveway and the ball knocked one the lights off, which also broke the tabs. The lights still work fine. It's just the tabs I'm having issues with. Before I purchased the lights I saw a comment from someone else about this. He/she said they had contacted the manufacturer to see if they only sold the base part. Apparently, they don't. I really don't want to buy more as the lights still work. It's just the weak tab. ======================= True, they are made out of a light plastic. True, they are not very bright. However, they look good once installed and look even better once they’re lit up at night. I was advised not to put the lights on the posts along the driveway where the basket ball hoop is located until our teenage son leaves the house (several years from now) so that the ball doesn’t ’t break them when it hits them. Before storing the lights away I realized that I could still install them, twist the top off, put them away from the hoop temporarily and just leave the cap on the post whenever boy is shooting some hoops. Granted, they could still get broken, but this way the target is smaller. My son has learned how to put the top back on once he’s done playing. So far, nothing broken. Good deal.

Love these lights
These are a great 'decorative' top to your posts, which is what I wanted. They are not super bright like a porch light, but they are not made for that purpose, but well worth it for this price. They do throw enough light to make it safer to walk up the 4 steps to our front door. And they provide that nice winter twinkle. I read the previous reviews, and everyone who said they didn't work well at first, once they replaced the batteries they worked fine. (Be sure and get "rechargeable" batteries) I did same. Who knows how long the batteries that came with them were there? I was also concerned because mine are in the front of the house which is shaded all day, so no direct bright sun hitting them as they are solar recharging. But they still charge fine. They turn off all day and stay on all night. There ARE made of hard plastic (not glass) and a little fragile, sturdy enough for their purpose, but you wouldn't want to drop them. The little plastic tabs where the lamp part attaches to the base must be put together gently, but they come apart easily to change batteries, and there is an on/off switch inside. Also, I wanted them to fit the top of my 4x4 post exactly and they fit perfectly. If you look carefully at the specs you will see a lot of these type of lamps mounting bases are larger than 4x4, like 4x6. I didn't want them sticking out past the top edge of the post. They come with screws to secure them to the post. I've only had them a month, but so far I am very happy, and I just ordered the same brand of posts with stakes to go into the ground, to put along the path to the porch.

they fit the posts really well, and came pre drilled to screw them on, screws included.
Post tops I bought before didn't fit well, but these were made right and were just snug on the posts. Helped dress up an old stairway outdoors that was built with 4x4 treated posts. The low profile of the part that sits on the post is good, so it doesn't interfere with anything joining the original post. Just right. The top part is secure to the body of the light, looks like the top will stay on even in high wind, kind of a tough design against the weather. Some others I bought flew apart easy in the wind, but these look like they are wind resistant, which in the midwest is a good idea. We will see how they do but they look sturdy. They installed nice and straight and not all wonky like others I bought. Functions both as a rain protector for the post as well as a light. Happy so far.

Battery doesn't last through the night
Overall these are quite nice - easy to install & cheaper on a per unit basis than many others on offer. They let off a bright light that is reflected downwards, makes for a pleasant effect on my patio. The only con is that the batteries in this item do not last through the night. This is the case both on summer days with bright sunshine & comparatively fewer hours of darkness as well as on winter days. The fact that the lights are dark in the morning is really noticeable in the winter. I purchased these so there would be enough ambient light to go out onto the patio when letting the dogs out in the morning, and they do not fulfill this purpose.

Not worth the money, spend a little more for better quality
I bought 12 for my deck posts. Immediately 2 of them would turn on round the clock--in full sun the light was on. The dusk until dawn feature was obviously broken. Reached out to the company right away, they said I was doing something wrong and would not do anything. How on earth could I be doing something wrong? At the time, 10 still worked. A year later, 2 more either turn on all day or do not work at all. By turning on all day the battery is dead by nightfall so they do not work. I now only have 8 that work on a good day--usually it's only 6. Last year I replaced all the batteries and bought a charger. I will take all the batteries out and charge them up twice in the Spring then in the Fall. This gets 8 of them working pretty well for a few weeks but the solar cells simply do not keep up with charging the batteries. The ones that work I probably get a good four hours of light out of them before they die. My deck gets full on sun for a large part of the day--it's not a direct sunlight issue. Anyway, I would not recommend these.

Easy to install and so pretty at night
These were really easy to install. Great quality and makes the deck so pretty at night. The light reflects in a pretty pattern. The light isn't too bright or too low. We are really happy with how they look. In the picture I attached, the light isn't quite that bright. It came out a bit brighter than it really looks. It is a great level of light.

Cheap, poor design, batteries not kept in good condition
At less than $10 each, it should be known you're getting a cheap product. Its a cheap plastic product that looks ok on the outside. Its got one LED light that shines down on a mirrored pyramid. Problem is, the mirror just reflects that single point of light and doesn't diffuse it. The clear plastic is shaped in a manner to diffuse the light, but doesn't do a good job of it. So what you end up with is a relatively bright LED that is both annoyingly bright, yet at the same time doesn't really put out that much light around. This product would work better on posts closer to the ground so that your eyes could not see into the unit. Still wouldn't put out a ton of light, but not bad for as cheap as they are and it does seem to continue on into the night - whereas I've had other solar lights that I liked better, but are dimming well before midnight. I don't recommend these on posts 4' or higher. Oh, and others have said, the batteries clearly haven't been kept up so that they lose their recharge power. All 4 of these worked at first, but one has since stopped after a week. I put a non-rechargable AA in there to see what happens, which works, just don't know for how long. Will report back on that. Its about $8 for a 4-pk of these rechargeable batteries which I would imagine solves any issues with them, as its a relatively simple design. In the end, value for the money isn't quite there in my opinion, should be closer to $5 each.
