The iVid BD-780 Multi-Region 3D Blu-ray Player supports 2D and 3D Full HD 1080p output via HDMI. It's compatible with Blu-ray discs (Zones A/B/C) and DVDs (all regions). Plus, the BD-780 supports upscaling to Full HD 1080p as well. It also features an Ethernet port for network connectivity. For other connectivity options, the device offers HDMI and composite AV RCA jacks. There's a USB port as well, which allows you to enjoy a variety of content including photos, video and music stored on a USB flash drive. For high-quality audio playback, the BD-780 features 5.1-channel surround with Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD decoding. Other features include BD-Live, Bonus View and a remote control for easy operation.

Review: It plays UK's region 2 blu-rays from desertcart.co.uk w/o a hitch! - A TRUE REGION-FREE BLU-RAY PLAYER: REGION- FREE DISCS + REGION B DISCS ANYWAY ++ DIDN'T HAVE ANY REGION C ON HAND TO TEST: iVid BD780 blu-ray player came within 10d of placing order. Cost me around 120$ + FL tax. It worked right out of the box and plugging in power cord + HDMI wire (a free one was included) + included USB thumb drive labeled region B. There were 2 USB thumb drives, 1 labeled region A and other one region B. Not sure if you need to attach it to the player or not but I figure it wouldn't hurt and I couldn't find any written instruction so went ahead and didn't run into any problem. There are TWO USB ports BTW: one on front panel; other one on the back. A bonus: you don't have to enter any tricky code and say a lot of prayer with this model: it plays UK discs right away. Unlike my old LG, where every time the cat lies on the power strip and turns off the power, it's reset to region A and you have to hunt down the instruction to enter the region B code to play UK discs. The USB drive is genius and so convenient! So far I played 10+ region B titles bought from desertcart UK w/o a hitch. Pic quality is same as my older 6-yr-old LG blu-ray player previously bought from 220 Electronics. PIC QUALITY: 101 Films' "Rabid" and 88 Films' "Battle Creek Brawl" were beautiful. 88 Films' "Snake & Crane" was faded with green-yellow discoloration but I think that was the same quality on the LG. I'm not a professional Blu-ray/DVD reviewer so take my comparison with a grain of salt. +++ you can adjust pic quality under "setup" but I couldn't make the pic any better or worse on some of Jackie Chan's older movies with poorer quality. SOUND QUALITY: standard HDMI +++ I played with various setting under "audio" and "setup": none made the sound louder or different. Maybe you need a true surround system instead of just a Samsung soundbar + subwoofer like me? TRAY + LOADING SPEED: speed was insane! I timed the picture or menu easily started within 6 sec of closing the tray + clicking play; much faster than my old LG which took 10 sec+. REMOTE is tiny 5-inch long with too many buttons for its own good. Worked well for me but probably too tiny for large-hand users. Remote has an "OSC" (on screen control?) which I find useful: you can cycle through subtitles + audio (Chinese Mandarin, Cantonese, or English for example) quickly w/o bringing up the disc' own menu. WI-FI MISSING: there is a LAN connector for connecting internet wire but I don't believe this model has wi-fi capability. Why does my cell phone, Fitbit watch, and BP cuff have wi-fi/blu-tooth feature but not a 2020 blu-ray player? Who is designing these blu-ray players? anyhow, if this player needs to update firm-ware, I haven't found out yet under setting. This is bad, b/c every few years, I believe disc manufacturers add new anti-piracy features and players have to update their software; otherwise you get glitches. This is what happed to my old LG player: it can play older UK blu-rays w/o problem, but new discs made last 2 yrs: frequent freezes on screen esp with trying to advance chapters or when you bring on the menu; player just won't advance. I'm not into Blu-ray "Live" features that you download from internet so not a deal-breaker for me. SIZE: this player measures about 17" wide so fits in nicely with my home stereo. I avoid the recent crop of tiny 10-11" wide machines. Good look is important for me. BTW, this thing has a nice green display with minimal non-distracting one-liner. Much better than recent LG + Samsung players which NO LONGER have display. BUILD-QUALITY: typical low-cost made-in-China plastic case and really light (3-4 lbs max) but not really diffent than many players that I checked out at Best Buys. OVERALL: a 5/5 winner! I now have separate players for region A and this iVid is ideal for region B discs from our UK friends. It played region B right out of the box; you might have to connect the USB drive labeled region B 1st but then there is no tricky code to enter after that. Pic + audio quality: on par with my 6-yr-old LG player. CONCERN: how do you update firmware and is there such a thing? Anyone who knows more about firmware please let the rest of us know. A great and very convenient deal for $120 + tax. I am buying a second one for back-up at that price.
Review: Great Blu ray player - I just recently received this free region Blu ray player. Blu ray player comes with a USB A or B to connect on your device. B is to play the imported movies and A is for North American movies. But with my player I received I didn't have to connect the USB to play import movies and was able to play both domestic and import movies without doing anything special. It comes with instructions and a phone number in case you can't set up region B on your player. It does have optical output for surround sound. I do recommend pressing audio to choose your channel sound if you have a sound bar or full surround sound when playing imported movies. The only thing I didn't like was opening the back of the remote control to out in the batteries. Had to use my car keys to push down on that button. Almost cut my nail while doing so. Picture quality is good and sound is great if you have a surround sound. You can change picture settings on the Blu ray player and has a couple other features you can adjust. It comes with a manual and HDMI cable. If you have imported movies from the U.K this will definitely play your imported movies or tv shows on Blu Ray or DVD. :)

## Questions & Answers

**Q: My unit seems to be unable to play 'Date Night'
as it says the Blu Ray disc is Zone 'A' and the player is stuck on Zone B. ANy ideas ?**
A: Yeah I had the same problem. Although it appears that the blu ray disc player is immediately ready to reed any disc, there are a few steps to take in order to change each time the region your disc belongs to. First of all, press SETUP on your remote, then insert the 1369 code. Now press 1 to enable region A, 2 for region B, 3 for a region C disc... and finally press SETUP again. Enjoy your view!

**Q: When I insert certain region "B" BD's, It displays a screen stating "This BD was designed for region B only.", What is the deal? I**
A: This device is multi-region for DVD out of the box. But it is not completely for BD as there is a Region Code Instructions set on a piece of paper. I tried it successfully on mine. - No disc inserted - Press "Setup" - Enter code "1369" - DVD code is set to 0 which means multi-region - Blu Ray code is 1 for region A, 2 for region B and 4 for region C - press "Setup" again to saveIf you set Blu Ray code to 2 it should now read your region B disk.

**Q: How can I get that this player plays USB with videos format mp4 with audio. I have video but not audio?**
A: I was having the same trouble, but I think I just figured out a solution, at least one that works for me. When I'm playing an MP4 movie off a USB stick, I get no sound. The secret for me is to hit the "Audio" button on the remote. You'll see some info in the upper left hand side of the screen. The default setting there is "1/2 AAC." You don't want that. Hit the Audio button again. You'll see that that'll switch the audio playback mode from "1/2 AAC" to "2/2 Dolby Stereo" ... and in a second or two the sound kicks in. Works for me anyway -- here's hoping it works for you too.

**Q: My ICOM BD780 is set to 5.1 by default. Music and effects are fine, but no voices. I don't know how to change the default setting using the manual**
A: SOLUTION: When the device arrived is played DVDs ok. But Blu-Rays had no dialog on the sound output using the RCA L & R (white and red) connectors. A poor work around was to plug into the 'C' connector which is the center 5.1 channel, but that is like using mono (very flat sound). By default the 5.1 shold be mixed to plain stereo and feed out of the L & R stereo channels. Here was our solution: See p18 and 19 of the manual. Go to the device's setup menu. Audio Settings. Speaker Settings (this was initially disabled). Configuration, and set it to 2.x. Then you can use the test tone menu item to test it - the sound will bounce from left to right. As I said initially the "Speaker settings" menu was disabled, we are not sure what we did to cause it to get enabled, possibly selecting L/R item in the SpDiff Output menu (even through that was the default).

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great Blu ray player

I just recently received this free region Blu ray player. Blu ray player comes with a USB A or B to connect on your device. B is to play the imported movies and A is for North American movies. But with my player I received I didn't have to connect the USB to play import movies and was able to play both domestic and import movies without doing anything special. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Intact and Fully Functional Multi-Region Bluray Player
*by D***H on January 7, 2015*

Pros: Arrived on time and fully intact. Region change is easy to set up if you read the instructions. Plays Blurays flawlessly after set up. Region settings can be changed at any time and as many times as need be. Cons: My device, though the same hardware-wise, is of a different brand (just seems odd). Relatively large compared to other Bluray players. The disk drive is noticeably loud while it reads and plays movies. I received the player on time, and in one piece. The box and device are branded as iCom instead of iVid; however the device is the exact same as what is marketed, the BD780 model. The box was not sealed with tape, so I assume that it is in fact a post factory upgrade. Inside the box is the player, safely held in place with Styrofoam, the remote controller, batteries for the remote controller, AV cables (but NO HDMI cable), the user manual, and the instructions to change the region of the player. The instruction list steps to change the region of the bluray player. First you go into the set up menu of the player, then you punch in a four-digit code. When you punch in the code, there is no box or GUI anywhere that shows the input of the code. Basically, the code input is invisible. But if you enter the 4 numbers correctly, a region change menu pops up where you can easily change the region of the player. Once you change it, it remains that region until you change it again. I need the player for region B blurays, so I only needed to change it once. All in all, the region control is easy to set up, and the player is very quick. The player itself is kind of large compared to most other Bluray players I've seen. It is unfortunate that it does not come packaged with an HDMI cable because Blurays ought to be seen in HD, not standard AV. But I had a spare HDMI cable, so I did not have to buy another. Lastly, my region B Blurays play flawlessly on the player, and they look and sound great. However, the player is pretty loud while it reads discs. With a good sound system, it's hardly noticeable, but at low volumes, the constant loud hum of the disk drive is kind of annoying.
