It definitely did the job. The needle does seem a bit large, but I'm not sure how it could be much smaller. You just have to put the needle through the seam. I did it in the seam under the armpit on shirts and it worked perfectly! I only had 1 mishap where it made a hole, but it was mhy fautlt. I didn't have the needle the whole way in when I pressed it and it slipped. This is a great little tagger. My wife used this for tagging items to take to a consignment sale; pretty good deal considering that price is in the ballpark of just buying the replacement barbs by themselves.So few moving parts, it's hard for anything to really go wrong. It would have taken FOREVER to attach them with safety pins. It wasn't hard to figure out how to use it (there's videos on youtube) even though it came without any instructions.
