## Description

The All New G2 Aviation Headset Engineered in the United States

Review: Great headset. - I'm a student pilot and was tired of renting headphones. I bought these because of the reviews. I really like them. They are just as good as the David Clark headphones. I have used super cheap headsets through expensive Zulu and Bose and these are very good. I have tried the mp3 feature on the ground and it seems fine. I have not actually used the mp3 feature while I was flying. We have too much air traffic and I don't think my instructor would appreciate me rocking out. However, so far so good. I really like the additional volume controls on the headset itself. After I bought these then I found the ANR pair they had. Oh well maybe when I need to upgrade. Overall for the price, the sound quality is really good. They don't squeeze my head like other headsets. I made the mistake of popping off one of the ear pieces. I didn't have a hard time getting it back on at all. I really like them and would buy them again.
Review: Decent comfortable passive headset but the microphone is HOPELESSLY weak - If there were three and half stars, that would probably be closer. First off, they're comfortable, easy to adjust, the cord is plenty long enough, the volume controls for each ear work fine with no scratchiness, and the speakers are clear enough for easy conversation. There are two things I dislike about these; one is a just a gripe and the other is something that definitely leaves room for improvement. First the gripe. They block out enough noise but they're not as quiet as I expected. After an hour and a half in the air, my ears are a little tired from the constant background noise not being muffled better. In part that's due to them not having active noise cancellation, but the passive noise reduction could be better. I would rather them be a little bigger and have better noise reduction. Now for what definitely needs improvement. The microphone could be quite a bit more sensitive. I usually have to adjust the squelch in the comm system so that there is some background hum so the microphone will engage, otherwise I have to raise my voice quite a bit to keep a clear conversation going, and that's with the microphone jammed in my mouth. The boom for the microphone is also a bit short. It needs to be about an inch or so longer. As it is it's stretched as far as it will go to reach where it needs to be, and no I don't have a gigantic melon. I'm about average height and weight. Comfort-wise there are no issues. I typically wear them with a ball cap and have no issues. The pads fit nicely around my ears. With a few improvements these could be the go-to starter headset since they're good for the price but with a few tweaks could be much better. When I'm done my flight training I'll definitely be looking into an upgrade and keep these for passenger use. Update: I've become increasingly frustrated with these and changed to two stars. When I started my training I didn't know any better, but every other headset including very inexpensive ones I've tried in several aircraft with varying comm systems and radios do not have the constant problem of getting cut off because of the hopelessly weak microphone signal. It's frustrating to constantly mess with the squelch to get these to stop cutting off because the signal is so weak. I'll keep them for a spare passenger set but I would never recommend them. It's a frustration you can do without unless they've fixed the problem. I have an inexpensive Kore set that works just as well as these except they don't have quite as good of passive noise reduction. If you're looking for a good starter headset, I'd recommend the Kore set over these.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Good Student/Starter Headset
*by I***E on February 7, 2011*

I purchased this as my first aviation headset. So far, I think it is overall a good purchase. The sound quality (at least for its primary function) is great. I love the dual volume control and switch for mono and stereo. The flexible boom mic is nice, but that is not to say it couldn't be a bit longer. It does have some descent padding for comfort both on the ears and the top, but it still gets a little uncomfortable after extended use, though still within tolerable limits. The MP3 plugin feature is a good idea with a 3.5mm jack and included connector, but the audio quality for that (separate channel) is poor. This headset's best feature is the noise reduction. It may be a little too quiet in fact. It's no Bose, but depending on how long this one lasts me, I would consider buying another one. The price is good for students/starters. UPDATE: Long term this set has been great. It's still working as well as when it was new. My only minor issue is that the oversized pads on the earpieces tend to get caught on the yoke if I hang it on there and they pop off really easily. They go right back on, but it takes some time and strength to put it back on correctly, and if you're in a hurry to get airborne (or already in the air) it can be frustrating. Also, I find the earpieces to be rather large or bulky compared to other headsets. Yes, it's a good sign of noise cancellation abilities, but sometimes it feels/seems a bit "clunky."
