UPDATE!!! This thing is great!
I've only been using it for about a week but I think this product is great. I read a lot of the "so-so" and negative reviews before purchasing this product.... which made me concerned that this product would sag or not be as flexible as advertised .... but so far so good. It doesn't sag at any joint and it is very flexible. I like to read in bed so I've only used it with my 7" Kindle so far. Soon I will try it out with my larger iPad Pro....but I must admit that I'm hesitant to do so ... because some negative reviews said the "clamp" that holds your device ..(or the ball socket clip) ... broke when they were extracting or inserting their devices. The clamps that hold the devices are taunt but they don't seem flimsy enough to break easily. I'll update my review after I give it a complete workout. P.S. It is easy to insert this devise up-side-down which will prevent it from having much flexibility. Make sure you carefully and closely look at the provided illustrations which show the correct orientation. ***UPDATE Sept.30,23 I have been using this Bed-Tablet Stand with my Kindle and iPad Pro for quite a while now. (I think it's been close to two years.) I think it's fantastic!!!! But, It does have a couple of issues you should know about. 1. You MUST have a head-board that it can clamp onto "from above".... or something sturdy that it can clamp onto "from above". I do not have the correct type of head board, but I do have cabinet doors (built into my headboard) which allowed me to clamp this device onto the "top part" of a cabinet door. Some guy posted pictures (here) showing how he screwed-in a piece of wood onto his headboard to create a "lip" for this device ....(which I thought was a great idea). I have had no issues using it with my Kindle.... but, after about 6 months of switching back-&-forth, from my Kindle to my iPad Pro (10.5 inch), the "ball socket clip" did start to slip, causing my iPad Pro to flop-down. However, ..... I fixed this problem. My iPad Pro has a "back protection cover"... so by purchasing a teeny-tiny bungee cord and wrapping it around the "ball socket" area and then hooking it onto the iPad Pro's back protection cover, the problem was instantly solved. The tiny bungee cord has just the right amount of "stretch" so you can still position the iPad anyway you desire and it will not sag. Yes, it would be great if this company could design the ball socket to stop drooping with iPad Pro's ... but this device doesn't "jiggle or vibrate" at all ... which seems to be the #1. complaint about all other similar products. P.S. .... it is FANTASTIC watching TV on an iPad Pro that is able to hover over your face.... and the same can be said for reading on your Kindle.

Best thing for reading in bed.
I ordered this to replace a previous holder (which was a lot cheaper and less versatile.) This one is easy to attach and easy to use. I have it clamped to my headboard and use with a Kindle (while still in it's case.) The easy of use and it's range is great. It can adjust to however I happen to be lying in bed. The 'head' piece that holds the Kindle can also rotate quite well. I do have mine adjusted to a looser position to make it easy to push back when I'm done with it, and it is almost too loose, as I do have to position it to lean down further behind the headboard to keep it from swinging out, but this can be tightened to prevent this is wanted. I do need to have the head piece turned vertically, so the arms holding the tablet are on top and bottom, instead of on the sides, which can be a pain when I need to reach the power button on the table which is on the bottom. Also, while it works perfectly fine as is, the way I need to clamp it to the headboard, there is a screw (that when removing from box, is in the clamp base, that is supposed to connect the clamp to the arm that you need to take out to place the arm in the clamp, but you can't screw it through the arm once installed. I don't know if it was a manufacturing error (there are no holes in the arm to insert it) or if I am missing something in the instructions, but the two are not fully secured together, so that if I happen to lift the arm too much when adjusting it, it can lift out of the clamp base. Other than those two things, I love this product.

Works well for the price, with a minor mdification
I like to read in bed using my iPad Mini and the Kindle Reader app. This mount, attached to my headboard, fills the bill. It's a little flimsy in that no matter how still you lie it will move a _little_ constantly if you don't use a hand to steady it. But one finger on the side of the iPad does it and I'll be turning pages anyway. The reviews about the instructions are right. I forget now, as I'm writing this months after getting it and putting it together, but I recall one area where the wording had me baffled, where something is referred to with one term in one place and a different term elsewhere. Best bet is to simply ignore the written instructions and use close examination of the parts along with the diagrams. Instructions could use a serious re-write, or start over from scratch, by someone whose first language is English. Also without a minor modification it simply had too much tension and would NOT stay put where I wanted it. I remedied this pretty easily by just removing one of the pair of springs nearest the base, see the attached photo. With both springs in place it simply would not stay extended as far as I need, as in the photo, but with one removed it's perfect. Stays right where I want it. You may or may not have an issue like this depending on how extended you need it to be when in use. The bottom line is that you get what you pay for. It doesn't cost much and isn't fancy, or perfect, but it's "good enough." I am writing this as I came back to the item to buy another that I want to mount on the bookcase beside my easy chair and as I call it "the reading throne" (no, not the bathroom, my big recliner with the bookcase beside it!) in my living room so I can make the same use of my iPad there. I have a lapdesk there that I use for large books, and of course it's super easy to just hold an iPad if sitting but I recline and snooze in the chair some too, so I have the same use case as the one on my bed.

Far better than I expected
I like to watch/listen to YouTube vids while playing a game. I hesitated for a long time to buy this and just used a tablet case with a stand instead. I finally bought this earlier this month. It holds my Fire 10 tablet without a struggle as well my Nintendo Switch when I tested it with that as well. It works great and I highly recommend it if you're on the fence about it. Its strudy, and each joint has its own screw to tighten or loose, if needed. I plan to buy a second one next month. The following 2 issues are likely a me issue in regards to how I use it, but regardless, I don't think they take away from recommending it. The first is when typing on the tablet you need to hold it with the other hand, else its awkward due to it bouncing with each tap. Again, that's a me thing and just how physics works, so I figured its worth a mention. The second issue is paint getting scraped off of it when pushing it away or pulling close, which I do a lot. Easily fixed by not tightening the screw that connects the arm to the base. I figured in case anyone might do what I did/do I'd mention so that you know where that random small spot of black specks came from that took a little too long to figure out. We all have our moments, lol. Not that it matters to anyone but me, but in regards to my picture, its not normally that close and doesn't cover my tv screen. Its like that purely for the picture.

Worth your money.
I like it. I had to improvise a little with the grip. Since I liked it so much, I screwed it to my bed. Good extension and easy to move. For whatever reason, It shakes.

OMG, this thing is worth every dollar!
Let's start with some basics so you understand if this review is for you or not. I use an iPad Pro 12.9", and I use it mostly for reading technical material. So any sort of "holder" that I utilize has to support that level of weight, and has to support the iPad in portrait mode. Out the box this is a mediocre stand, just like others I have tried. For example the gooseneck stands can't really support the weight of the largest iPad and are a hassle to maneuver into place every time you use them. So how did I convert mediocre to perfection? Look at the photos! The first step (thank you some other reviewer who gave me the idea!) is to deal with the iPad mounting. The mounting that's supplied by the manufacturer is a pain in the ass to use, requiring an effort to slide the iPad in and pull it out on every use. Solution is to get a magnetic mount. Amazon is kinda weird about including URLs, but look for "ORASANT Strong Magnetic Tripod Mount". That supplies the "head" that's at the very end of my setup, holding the iPad. How do you connect it? Well look at how the mount connects to the arm that you have just bought. At the very end, the mount that holds the iPad, has a little neck, a screw ring, and a holder that holds a mini-ball-head thats connected to the final metal rod you see just before the iPad. You unscrew that ring and can pop the mount off the ball head. A similar setup connects the magnetic part of the ORASANT mount to the plastic holder that it sits on. And (yay standards!) they are identically sized ball heads. So just swap the one for the other! If you look at my second photo, the focal point of the photo, the black magnetic mount in the lower third of the picture, is the ORASANT mount connected to the rest of the arm that you've bought. At the very end you see the three-fold magnetic head, then right behind the head you see a black ring. Unscrew that ring and you have the ball-head that connects to the rest of the arm. Step two is your need your iPad to hold onto the magnetic mount, meaning you need to attach some thin iron sheets to its back, as you can see in the photo. I attached two "sections" of iron sheet, the upper section is for holding the iPad in portrait mode, the lower section is better for holding it in landscape mode. Since I use a Smart Folio as my iPad cover, it's very easy to pull the Folio off the iPad (it's connected by magnetism around the edge of the iPad Pro) and pop the iPad onto the magnetic mount, then to pull the iPad off the mount and pop its cover back on. You will obviously think this so, yes, I tried some obvious short cuts! Is the magnetism around the iPad edges (used by the Smart Folio or the Magic Keyboard) strong enough to hold it up if you bought maybe a cheaper mount with just an iron based? IMHO that's unsatisfactory because you can't really position the iPad nicely with it hanging by its edge. Just buy the magnetic mount, it's not expensive! Can you stick the iPad to the mount with its Smart Folio on? Not very satisfactorily! You can kinda just get it to work, but the magnetic strength through the additional thickness of the case is weak enough that the slightest wrong touch makes it fall off. But without the case the connection is very satisfactory and does not feel at all fragile. You can find the sorts of thin iron plates you need by doing a search for "Metal Plates for Magnetic Car Mount". OK, at this stage we now have a great connection from our iPad to this mounting arm. What's the next step? You will see photos showing various mounting options (and to be fair, the vice clamp that the arm comes with is pretty damn well designed, very flexible and capable of clamping onto a lot of different things. But I found that all the obvious options I tried (variants of nightstand on the side, or behind the headboard) were all unsatisfactory. The nightstand angles were always wrong, and clamped to the headboard the iPad was a few inches too close to my eyes for comfortable reading. This may not matter to you depending on your eyes, or whether you are watching movies lying down, rather than reading while somewhat vertical. But to me it made the product so close but still useless :-( Hence the last stage. You'll see I mounted a bracket on the wall that projects about ten inches over the bed, then I clamped the arm onto the end of that bracket. (This was just a bracket I had lying around, I'm afraid you will have to look for something similar in your garage or at Home Depot.) It's obviously not QUITE ideal -- you can (and I do) swing the arm all the way around to against the wall when it's not in use, but you still have that bracket sticking out ten inches, and if you share a bed that may be problematic. But for my use of the bed I have not found it to be a problem, mounting it as I did towards one side of the bed (not the middle). In the last photo you see the arm rotated away against the wall. The payoff for all this (about $50 in parts and half an hour with a stud finder and a drill) is a system that feels astonishingly good. The arm is robust and stiff, the iPad sits still where it should, and it's very easy to position the iPad exactly where I want it so that I can read for a long time without getting tired.

Love it! PERFECT for what I need!
A game changer! FINALLY!!! This was my 4th attempt/purchase at finding a tablet holder for my new bed frame. Everything else was just too high or wrong and would collapse or cheaply made. But this does exactly what it needs to and what it shows in the picture. I think what makes this stand out from all the rest is the base. It's made with plexiglass and a solid screw bolt that actually holds/clamps onto the bed frame without coming loose. A problem I was having with every other tablet holder I ordered and kept having to return. No matter how tight you would screw the base, it would come undone. But this stand? Not even. Solid and sturdy. Since I can't read sitting up for too long and need neck support I needed something that would hover over my head while lying in bed and this does that perfectly. You can adjust the tablet grip holder to whatever angle you need, and the arm swings whichever way you need it and stays. Love it so much! Highly recommend!

A repeat of my review of my earlier purchase, with some addenda
Contrary to some bad reviews for this product, it seems quite sturdy and stable to me. The arms are made of aluminum, so maybe that is why they think it is not strongly built. It is plenty long enough and strong enough to provide a stable platform for watching videos in bed. There is one possible problem you may experience, however. The position adjustments are locked by tightening knobs on the joints, which clamp round balls and round disk at the ends of threaded rods. If those are not TIGHTLY screwed into the balls and the disk, changing the position of the tablet will tend to loosen them on the rods, instead of rotating the clamps on the balls and the disk. I suggest before putting this device into use that you disassemble it, apply some kind of threadlocking substance such as Perrmatex, reassemble and tighten them back up HARD by judicious use of clamps, pliers and your vise. Addenda: My new purchase has the previously loose connections tightened, and appear to be thread-locked. After two years, repeated tightening of the clamps for the two balls has caused them to crack, and no longer to be adjustable. I perhaps could figure out a work-around, but I decided to buy new to match my new Samsung 10" tablet. I'm keeping the old one, pending a solution to the cracking problem. And, after two years of use, the pin which inserts into the mounting clamp has worn significantly, making the whole mount a little less rigid, but still allowing me to play Solitaire while listening to audiobooks in bed. I haven't seen any better, with this one's range of extension, so this is still my choice.

Daily use and a product image that is honest
I have to admit, I was quite surprised by this product. I have an old iPad air 2 that I solely use for sticking YouTube on the fall asleep to. This iPad has spent its life in one of those metal "love mei" cases, which I think has helped it live as long as it has. After falling asleep and dropping this on myself a few times, I knew something had to be done. This is the third tablet holder that I have tried for this setup, and I can safely say that I am yet to have the iPad fall on my head. The build quality is sturdy, with additional thumb screws that let you add extra tension to joints. The numerous joints allow for the tablet to be angled in every direction I have needed while tossing and turning. But the biggest positive point - the tablet is held very securely, and is easily slipped in an out (enough space in the gripper to hold my tablet securely and leave room to get it out without having to force it). The only downside of the design is the main screw securing the base - I imagine they've designed this for thicker tables or surfaces. With this being attached to my headboard, and there not being enough space behind the bed for the screw; this has lead to some close calls with me not paying attention. A small price to pay in comparison to the ease of use, and grip it provides.
