But first a word about the New Shining Image Company. My clock shipped with only one of the wooden dangles. We did not discover this until Mother's Day, even though the clock had arrived more than a week earlier, because it was a Mother's Day gift. I emailed New Shining Image through Amazon on Sunday, expecting at best to get a reply on Monday. To my surprise, they responded within an hour. On Monday the missing "weights" were on their way, and here in Houston by Thursday. That is truly exceptionally good customer service. An earlier review dissed this clock because "It isn't a real Black Forest Cuckoo Clock." Well, Duh! Sure, those are nice, and an equivalent mechanical clock from Europe could easily run $1200.00 or more. Sure, if you are rich, go for one of those. But for everyone else like us, who have to live on a real-world budget, this is as close as we will ever come to owning a cuckoo clock. My wife loves it, and I am very grateful to have come upon it while searching the web for cuckoo clocks we could actually afford. Yes, this is a battery-operated clock; the "weights" are carved from wood and are ornamental only. It's nice that the pendulum swings via a motor, even though it is ornamental, too, and is not used to adjust the speed of the clock. For $100.00 this clock is a fantastic bargain! It keeps time well; the cuckoo sound with echo sounds nice, and the music with the twirling dancers is even better. The case is hand-carved wood, not plastic, and it has all of the beauty of real wood. The clock keeps time well. I could not be more satisfied or happier with it.

The clock lasted 12 years in Hawaii before giving up the ghost. We enjoyed it while it functioned, but Hawaii is tough on gears and electronics due to the high humidity and salt air. Will replace it once we move to the Mainland.

So ugly, that it's ADORABLE! I've had this for about three hours with the two "D" batteries in it and so far I love it. Be sure to buy two "D" batteries when you order this so you can get it going right away. Besides cuckooing with a cute little echo, each hour it plays a different nursery rhyme tune, like Bingo, Baa Baa Black Sheep, etc. You can turn the sound off, or the built in light sensor will turn it off for you when it's dark. You can choose a high or low setting for the sound. I have mine set on low and that's just perfect. The wood is beautifully hand-carved and the clock is an impressive size (check product measurements). I'm thinking of getting some of these for my kids for Christmas. I think the grand kids will enjoy growing up with this cuckoo clock! Very nostalgic. This cuckoo clock is better than I expected. Let’s face it, any cuckoo clock made in the Black Forest that cost 120.00 was bound to be tiny, stamped out, and pitiful. It would have been inaccurate and prone to breakdowns. It would have been like the three losers that I foolishly bought in the the childish hope that I’d get to see and hear the charmingly fairytale whimsical CUCKOO on the hour. So I ordered this one. And It’s great. Big. Loud. Accurate. Cheesey. Garish. Noisy and does all sorts of silly movements. The pedulum swings, the dancers spin, the cuckoo leaps out and cuckoos. It’s got leaves and deer and trees; it’s got three weights hanging on chains. It looks like wood, in fact I think a lot of the decoration is wood. Now comes the kicker, because it’s movement is quartz it’s super accurate and probably won’t wear out for years. It does everything it’s supposed to do. It’s wonderful. It’s the absolute fulfillment of my 8 year old heart’s wish for the perfect cuckoo clock. For a little over 120.00 and free shipping. (There is One thing I might change, if I could, the cuckoo has an echo...why? But I guess that just adds to the whimsy... I

This is a very nice clock, similar clocks are much more expensive. I purchased this clock as a Christmas gift to my grandsons.

The children do NOT dance when the music is play like what is advertised!!! The clock is made of wood but for $150,go spend your money else where and not on this.

Bought this clock for a Christmas Present , Very pretty clock and easy to set up . I think its a little expensive for the quality and of course one of the points was broken on Christmas day and we just glued it instead of having the cost of returning to get a new one. The woodwork is very nice but the rest of it is just cheap plastic clock. Its been up since Christmas day and has already started to get screwed up keeping time. The night sensor never worked . Its very cute as just a novelty piece , but not if your looking for a quality cuckoo .

It only sounds during daylight. Everyone likes its looks, sounds and substantial size. Our 5 year old runs to the kitchen every time it sounds and takes a drink of water - which she agreed to do if we got this clock and put it in the living room of our isolated, off grid, ranch house. Sneaky aren't we? Guess who is better hydrated and healthier now? - - Edit: we are a month away from the 5 year anniversary of having purchased this clock. Still perfect, still running flawlessly. - - Edit: nearly six years now. Still like new. - - Edit: seven years. Still flawless. Now 12, our daughter still drinks water when it sounds. Important here in the high desert.

I love that it’s rather large. The cookoos and the songs after are fun. The greatest part is that the clock will not engage in the amazing outrageous noises and song when it’s after dark due to a light sensor. Also the ticking of the clock is very quiet.

ok so trying to find out if the pendulum was for display only or if it worked, I took the clock off the wall and looked at the back .the arm was on a pin. as soon as I moved the arm off the pin the pendulum worked. an easy fix. the clock is beautiful and works perfectly. Well after I got the pendulum to work properly I got a e-mail from hb saying it's for decorative only. HOW CAN they say this when it's not. It's their product . Totally confused!! Now I wonder what kind of customer service I would receive if I needed it.so I got to change my rating after that.

Wow! This cuckoo clock is amazing! My husband and I just love it. It arrived yesterday. I expected it to be smaller but it's much larger than expected. I love the way the cuckoo sounds....when it comes out it cuckoo loud followed by a quieter cuckoo which sounds like an echo and you can hear a background sound of birds. The little angel dancers dance to a different nursery rhyme after the cuckoo bird finishes his performance 😉. The bird only cuckoo's on the hour. This clock is very well made. Its crafted by wood.

We really love this coucou clock, it's size and look pefectly fits our traditional style country house. But it always runs in a hurry, in a couple of days it hurries about 15 minutes and we constantly have to fix it.
